Teach me how to draw sonic ocs, I keep trying and it just looks off because of their eyes

Okay so, to begin with you need to know the anatomy. It’s not complicated but still very hard to learn since it’s kinda different from other styles and you need to get used to it to start making poses and stuff.

Hands are a big problem for me because their size when it comes to flexing the arms, I need practice on that. Still, I love drawing them because of the size, I love sausage short fingers.

To draw faces you only need to set this lines that’ll help you to draw that thingy below the eyes (I CAN’T REMEMBER THE WORD OKAY?) and with that you’ll decide where the character is looking.

There are only a few changes you can make to the eyes. They’re pretty simple, and yet, takes time to get to draw the actual shape, it depends on own your style.

This styles work for almost all the species, except for the birds witch I’m no expert so heh… sorry.

Hedgehog’s hairstyle always depends on their quills, you can make some hairs here and there but not in the entire head cuz… ya’ know… Hedgehogs

Maybe this’ll help you. I never did any tutorial before and I did this in a hurry. Maybe I’ll make a video explaining this cuz there’s a LOT to cover. Sonic Oc’s are so fun to make and even easy. There’s not that many rules you can not break designing this fellas.

If I may offer my take on this -

First, it is entirely within her character to dress the way she does. I’ve talked about this before and I stand by it still.

But second… there’s a thin line between whether or not a revealing outfit is objectifying or empowering for the person wearing it, but it’s generally said that the answer to that question lies in how the camera treats the character. If the camera is doing smooth panning shots over the character’s “assets” and focusing entirely too much on the sexy parts of their costume, they’re likely being oversexualized and it gets gross fast. But if the camera gives them their own agency, focuses on what important is happening in the shot rather than on specific body parts, then the character can be interpreted to have chosen that outfit for themselves - especially if there’s in-universe reasons why they might choose to wear it.

So… how does the camera treat Rouge, exactly? Let’s take a look:

I went through my entire stash of gifs, and couldn’t find a single one that treated her like an object. She gets the same respect with regards to camera angles as do all the other characters. In fact, quite a few of the shots that are focused mainly on her were shot from a lower angle, putting her in a clear position of power over the viewer:

That first gif is from her introductory cutscene in the entire franchise, by the way, which means one of the first times we ever see her, she’s clenching her fist at the camera and claiming the world.

People see a character with visible cleavage - or just a large bust in general - and assume that she’s being objectified and treated badly, but I would venture to say the games go out of their way to give Rouge the same respect as every other character. Her character - the core of who she is - is not built on how she dresses. Quite the opposite, actually: her character is what dictates her design in the first place.

Tl;dr It’s 100% in character for Rouge to wear what she does, and the games never objectify her in the first place, therefore I see nothing wrong with her design.
