Sticker order so I don’t forget
Wire brushed the rear wheel wells. No major rust was found. Prepping for Por-15 paint.
Built some skates to move the body around.
Dropped the rear end
Managed to remove the engine and transmission. Fairly simple process. 2 hydraulic Jack stand and 3 Furniture dolly helped the process.
Removed old nose and I was able to dry fit the “new to me” nose.
Before and after photos on interior.
Surprised to see the Rear wheel wells in very good shape. Cleaned them white a wire wheel then painted with Por-15 (semi-gloss black).
Painted the inside with 2 coats of Por-15.
Worked on the cracked dash. Happy with the results.
Steps:
80 grit on the whole dash.
Dremmel out all cracks wide enough and deep to accommodate Bondo Glass
Apply Bondo Glass
Smooth out Bondo Glass with 80 grit
Smooth out whole dash with 200grit
Apply regular Bondo to to all cracks to smooth out
Re-apply Bondo as needed to get a smooth finish.
Clean everything with acetone
Apply SEM texture 1 light coat, fash 10 minute then apply a second light coat
Wait 24hr to dry
Send with 600 grit any high spots and even things out
Top coat with SEM Color Coat satin black (vinyl paint)
Done
Back to work in the boot area. Traced a template for the spare tire wheel well. It’s shallower than original. That’s is fine as I’m not planning on carrying a spare. A 12v air pump, tire plugs and liquid tire sealer.
Rear shelf repaired.
Driver side door bottom seals are in good shape. No rust.
Painted the inner area of the front left and right fender with some Por-15.
Welded the holes for the knee high molding which I am not a big fan. Also did some rust repair around the turn signal.
All 3 floor pans are now installed.
Front driver is in good shape. No need to replace. Treated with some rust neutralizer.
