Harry couldn’t believe what he was seeing. The woman had a ticket just like his. To suddenly know something after spending so much time in the dark, to know that he wasn’t the only one to be ripped away from his home was a relief. For a moment anyway. The obvious realization that there could be many more people stolen away from everyone they cared about and stuck in this place settled down on Harry like thick fog on the surface of the waters before the sun would appear to chase it away. No one deserved this. Not even his worst enemies. For the first time since Harry knew he couldn’t find his way back home, his hope that Uma or Gil would show up was replaced by a desperate wish that they would escape his fate. Well, Uma anyway. Gil probably wouldn’t be so lucky. His train of thought was caught off guard by Tia Dalma’s question, eyes closing briefly as he shook his head.
“Never. My loyalty to Uma…” he paused for a moment before speaking again, his voice much softer now. “is everything. She is the captain until she decides she doesn’t want to be captain anymore. I will be loyal to her until the day I die.”
Putting his ticket back in its place, Harry once more looked upon Tia Dalma in silence. She said a witch knows. What kind of a witch was she? He couldn’t recall anyone by her name or appearance on the Isle so either she was a good witch or she was somehow stronger than the spell that trapped all of the villains on the Isle and the spell that trapped them was a strong one. It brought dead villains back to life so they and all their descendants would have to live with the effects their actions caused. Accepting her hand in his own, he pressed a gentle kiss to her knuckles in greeting before slowly separating from her. The scent of the sea air that he faintly caught moments ago seemed to surround him still, reminding him of when he was a child sitting with his parents as they read to him. They both smelled of the ocean and he always made sure to hug them tightly enough so he would as well. When his mother died, it was like his father died too. By then, Harry was spending more time with Uma so he didn’t think about it. There were more important adventures to be had than getting lost in memories. Here in this place, Harry remembered and it brought a faint smile to his face even as he wished more than ever to be back home.
His expression doesn’t go unnoticed ----barely anything goes unnoticed by her, anyway---- and she smiles. He can recognize loneliness and relief easily, but then... then maybe... some longing? Calypso studies the boy’s expression, almost inclined to dive into his mind and read his thoughts, but... no, he hasn’t proved to be an enemy and such invasion of privacy was something she only allowed herself to do with those that intended harm towards her. SO SHE DROWNS HER CURIOSITY and allows him to continue.
A smile of content shows up at his words. The boy had immediately become of Dalma’s fondness and she would’ve gifted him a ship and even a crew if he wished so, everything with a price, that was obvious, but she wouldn’t have said no; STILL, his loyalty was admirable and that was probably one of the traits she admired the most in humans, that’s how Will Turner won her admiration.
His action is unexpected, but well-received. Calypso was glad to know a decent person after the amount of brutes that crowded this city “Well, well, you do know how to treat a lady”, she congratulates him. More sad memories seemed to occupy the sailor’s head, which caused the witch to tilt her head in curiosity after retrieving her hand. She had become intrigued by the life of this young boy, who seemed to have deeper feelings than the common male around him and so, she lifted her chin pridefully, a sympathetic smile always showing as she decided to try and end a little of Harry’s misery. “Would you like to have dinner with me tonight? We can go get anything you want”. Not always she was up to eating the weird dishes that humans invented in the past centuries, but guessing that both of them could have similar tastes. “Come on, darling, leave the dark and the gloom for the abyssal creatures... at least for the rest of the night”.
