western zodiac: tierney is a leo sun, aries moon, and taurus rising. leo sun because they naturally attract attention. they are generous most of the time but can have a bit of a selfish streak. aries moon because their emotions are violatle and quick to react. their inner world is a little choatic and they often react first think second. finally taurus rising because i think she can seem very grounded and one with nature, but that comes with an expectation of luxury. which means that when times are difficult it's not that she can't endure it, but she will be complaining the whole time.
it had felt like a long day thus far, though that wasn't entirely the truth - not far past midday, though alice had been up since rays of the sun had begun peering through the cracks of the too thin curtains in her bedroom. she hadn't always been such a light sleeper, but the last couple of weeks, it had felt like a curse that she wasn't quite able to shake off. coffee helped. fresh air helped, too, particularly if it meant breaking up what otherwise threatened to be the monotony of her day. that was what she was trying to do now, get in a little bit of movement and wake herself back up.
the blonde turned when she heard another voice call out, and it took a moment for alice to figure out if she was calling out to her specifically or someone else in the street. she gave a brief glance around to see that no one else had stopped and the woman appeared to be staring at her, or more specifically, the necklace that was hanging around her neck.
alice would've considered it to be a simple piece - a thin gold chain rested against her neck and collarbones, but there was a small watch face that hung from it, resting on her sternum. the time on it was wrong. it was always wrong, no matter how many times that she seemed to manually reset it. she'd taken it in a few times to fix it to no avail. "oh, this?" she questioned as she looked up to meet the other's gaze. "i - gosh, i'm not sure. i've had it forever. i don't know how lovely i'd consider it to be, though, i'm not sure that i've ever actually seen the time on it be correct." a beat. the other's curiosity was a bit surprising. "did you want to look at it?"
AS TIERNEY PEERED CLOSER THE INSTINCT SEEMED WRONG. the simple chain paired with the lovely watchface wasn't something she could remember having fixed before. it was curious the way magic worked here. it wasn't as straightforward and often tierney was having to discover what the magic was trying to tell her. brow furrowed ever so slight before looking back up to the girl. "it's beautiful." she complimented.
as soon as the time was mentioned tierney perked up with a swift nod at the girl's question. "yes, i would love to see it." hands are outstretched to recieve the piece. "the timepiece has always been broken then?" she confirmed. tierney had never quite been a fan of the ticking that clocks could do. too many memories of sharp teeth and the continual pursuit by a certain crocodile. and there was no use for time in neverland - at least not in the way that there is here.
when the timepiece is handed over she deals with it gently. it really was quite pretty. her thumb ran over the smooth of the glass, eyes close but for a moment before asking," do you want the time to be correct? i believe i could fix this."
Kida jerked awake from where she had nodded off over the history textbook in front of her, grimacing at the small smear of saliva that now decorated the pages.
The library was quiet, twenty-four hours open for students of Walt Academy to find solace in the shelves of dusty tomes rubbing covers with crisp new editions.
Kida leapt to her feet when she locked eyes with the person across the table from here.
"I apologize, let me get my stuff out of here," she spluttered, diving across the table to pull the books Milo had suggested across the table towards her bag.
THE SMELL OF OLD BOOKS WERE COMFORTING. perhaps it was reminiscent of treasure maps or parchment rolled just right to fit into the crook of a bottleneck. slender fingers skim over the spines of the books. sharp gaze clicks to the soft snoring woman. it was tierney's belief that if you were tired enough to have drifted off to sleep in public than you probably didn't need to be disturbed by her.
she slipped the book about visable mending off the shelf and settled down at a table. quick hands bring out her notebook as she transcribed the steps that she needed. when the woman jumped up tierney was startled in her seat, leaning back a little bit.
"no, no, no need to rush -" she said quickly. tierney made the finishing touches to her notes before shutting the book. "i really was going to be out of your hair now. you don't have the apologize."

βtink was not all bad: or, rather, she was all bad just now, but, on the other hand, sometimes she was all good. fairies have to be one thing or the other, because being so small they unfortunately have room for one feeling only at a time. they are, however, allowed to change, only it must be a complete change.β
Vincent carried a crate of various loose ends and small tools. He was taking care of the weekly restock of his lab, and he even had an overflowing messenger bag wrapped around his form. Every pocket on his person and every inch of the crate he was carrying had some loose gear or wire crammed into it. It was a wonder the lean man could carry it all, but a trailing canine at his side gave a bark of encouragement every so often.
"Careful, Sparky. I do not want you to trip me like last time," he warned his companion just as a small wrench and a couple of metal pieces fell from his nearly overflowing crate.
A sigh fell from his lips as he contemplated his next course of action. If he let go of his crate now, he feared he would lose the strength to pick it up again as his arms grew more tired by the second.
IT WAS THE DOG THAT CAUGHT HER EYE FIRST. depite her size animals like dogs and cats still unnerved her slightly. the memories of being chased through houses and sidewalks is not too far behind her. tierney straightens though when she notices the tools all but ready to jumble out of the man's hands. hands are buried in her pockets and there is a deep sigh she releases. fully exhaling before deciding to cross the street.
tierney flinches at the bark but persists onward. it was one of those rare instances where she could see the trouble before it happen. for most of her life she was reactive but experience and sleepless nights could inform her. tierney is just about behind the man when he turned to her, asking if she would assist. it's a swift nod from the tinker, nimble hands gently pick up the pieces of metal and the wrench as well.
she gently tucked the pieces back into the crate. tierney shifted back on her heels, wisps of her hair failing forward. she tucked them back quickly, head tilted with continued concerns. "you need help carrying anything? seems like you've got your hands full." tierney gestured to the dog, "and it's not like they're being much help to you." she joked.
LACK OF SUPPLIES DEMANDED A DAY TRIP. it's infrequent that tierney was out and about when the sun was so high in the sky. she had forgotten some of the perks of seeing places so alive. the ambient laughter and the warm glow on her cheeks. it did not bring her as much comfort as the cool nights, where the world has stilled, but a nice change of pace never the less. braclets jangle with the gently swining of her arms, the light catching it just so. her bag is filled with copper wire, pliers, and a slew of buttons. projects were back on her worktable unfinished - one or two pieces from being returned to their owners.
quick flashes from person to person. the way someone could misalign a button, or laugh straight from the pit of their stomachs, or avoid stepping on the cracks. she enjoyed the observation of it. of getting to know people in ways that weren't even conciously choosing. it was all those little moments that built the full image of a person. while she was still in the process of collecting all of her own moments, attempting to see her reflection clearer.
she is almost to the corner of her workshop when a glint catches her eye. "hey !" she called out, fast feet moving to try and catch up with the figure. tierney was sure that the piece had been in her hands. there was a hum about it that was familiar to her. had she repaired it? it wasn't as if the tinker kept track. "it's a lovely piece you're wearing - i'd be curious to know where you got it."
