PRODUCT - SOPHIE (2015)

SOPHIE's music changed the way I see pop music and art forever. As an animator, I always found it sweet how her approach to pop music is similar to the approach to animation.

I always found the PRODUCT covers so fun and creative. The project itself is inspiring my new project a lot as the story and characters are strongly related to music.

Thank you, SOPHIE, for continuing to inspire me to create. Miss you forever! <3

Hold Onto Me Infinity by Hyd

Overall favorite: Watch You Cry

Vibes: 80s, calm, rhythmic

Angel- it reminds me of the 80s, which I LOVE. Hyd’s voice is so calm and soothing. I really like this song overall.

Freak- I like the rhythm. Honestly this song is difficult to describe. It seems like a hyperpop song but also completely different.

Grounded- very rhythmic, sort of like Freak. I like the whispered parts (they feel like poetry), the sung parts, and the bright instrumentals.

Physical Stuff- it’s simple at first and starts to build. The bell like noises are just *chefs kiss*.

Watch You Cry- as soon as I heard the beginning I knew I was going to love this. Honestly the rap part reminds me of Princess Nokia, especially in her album GIRLS, I’m honestly not sure why. I think it’s Hyd’s voice.

Makeover- More 80s vibes YESSSSSS. The percussion is wonderfully abrasive.

Looking Up I See a Cloud- I love how calm and chill this song is. It feels like a lullaby.

Take Care of Me- it sounds ominous in the beginning, which I like. Very intriguing song. I noticed Hyd’s signature ethereal vocals and some whispers too.

Light Span- the introooooo. I love it. It reminds me of a PC music song. I’ve noticed there’s lots of speaking in this album which I like.

Make Me Believe- total switch up from Light Span. We’re back to the 80s and I’m so here for it.

Never Is Over- another switch up. Back to chill vibes. It’s a quiet, gentle song.

Shine It- feels like a summary of the overall album (which I love). It’s got the chill, 80s, and PC music vibes.

THE FIFTH STAGE by @sorry-stacy

Overall favorite: 5

Vibes: Frutiger aero, mysterious, shiny, future

ME AND MARYLAND- very shiny song with nice layered and altered vocals and a good snare drum rhythm. It sort of reminds me of frutiger aero in a way which I love.

DOG’S LIFE- ok so this one is nice. I like odd electronic beats that seem to jut out and the mysterious sounding vocals in the beginning.

NOT SELF-STRATEGY- the smooth vocals and crunchy instrumentals actually go very well together. It’s very easy to get lost in the rhythm. Overall a satisfying sound.

YOUR BLOODLINE ENDS WITH ME- I’ve noticed in stacy’s songs she makes a good use of drums, including this one. This song is haunting, and the drums just add to that effect in a way, making me think of a slow march.

5- in the beginning, stacy layers speaking and singing which I love. The first minute or so is chill, and after that the song evokes driving through a large futuristic city. I LOVE when songs have 2+ parts that sound somewhat (or completely) different. There was some silence toward the end and I thought the song had ended. Then it started to fade in again, which was a nice surprise.
