Back when I was young and stupid, I was a fan of Gundam Wing, Duo was my fave character. I took on Solo because I figured I would be “forever single” (self-fulfilling prophecy it seems), and I went with Shikigami thinking I was putting a feminine spin on Shinigami (Duo’s Gundam).

Little did I know that shikigami are a thing - Shinto Demi-gods. Ah well, I’ll still take it, and this has been my online handle since about 2000 or so.

I had such a kickass D&D moment last night.

So I was invited to an “Unbirthday” party that was of course Alice in Wonderland themed. My friend ran a one shot session also Wonderland themed. I played an Ace of Spades in the Queen of Hearts army and was in a tussle with The Mad Hatter for pretty much the whole session. Now earlier, we made the amusing discovery that anyone playing a card had a flaw trait that said “turns tail and runs when things look bad.” It was unintentional, apparently DnD Beyond put it in there automatically, and we all thought it was pretty funny.

The Mad Hatter was definitely kicking my ass and he knew it, and figuring my HP was getting low, he tried to persuade me to not flee. He fails his persuasion roll, so I look up at him and say, “you are not My Queen, your words cannot sway me.”

And the whole table went “Ooooooo!”

It was so fucking awesome.

Me: (just finished power washing the walkway in the heat) Mom? Can you bring me a glass of water?

Mom: Of course!

(mom bring my water where i'm sitting on the front porch and I take a sip)

Me: Thanks. It's so hot, I almost wanted to ask you to dump the water on my head.

Mom: (taking the glass) Is the water too cold?

Me: No, it's lovely, actually.

(Mom dumps half the glass over my head... which feels nice and I'm laughing asking what gives)

Mom: It's payback.

Me: For what?

(she goes to get her white t-shirt, which has a HUGE coffee stain on it)

Mom: Someone put a cup of coffee in the freezer and didn't put the lid on it.

Me: Oh. Okay, I deserved that.

Have they ruled out Bell’s Palsey? I’m not sure if it’s linked but someone I knew, towards the end of their pregnancy, the left side of their face was mostly paralyzed until about 3-4 months after they gave birth. I don’t think they knew why it happened, just did.
