Doppo’s eyes are on Jakurai’s hands even though he should be looking up at the stars. They are, in theory, infinitely more interesting than anything the doctor could be doing with those hands, maybe, but he’s chewing the inside of his lip and thinking and thinking and --
The Blackgrove has general merriment and wandering, but Doppo seems stuck in place.
“Ah -- sorry, sensei, did you say something?”

In the southern sector, Doppo looks up and sees a set of games and prizes. Eyes follow the crowd and he takes a step forward, towards on of the booths.
He looks at the woman next to him and offers a small smile. “How do we play this?”

The sound obviously attracts his attention. He was thankful all the books were in a language he could read because he had been meaning to check out what kind of literature this world held. To his pleasant surprise, every book he had skimmed was very… interesting, in it’s own way. He’d have to analyze certain idioms later, since not all of them exactly make sense to him at first glance. He carefully approaches the stack – catching vibrant, crimson hair. The brunette furrows a brow and speaks in an even tone. Added with a neutral face of displeasure, at that.
“ Kannonzaka. Hiding, are we? ” He didn’t sound impressed. They were both now without reason to combat, let alone squabble. Without their mics, why would he run from him? He’s unarmed. He kneels down to pick up the knocked over books, directing his gaze away from him. He had no idea what made him this way, but he wasn’t that interested in finding out. People are a way for a certain reason and that’s to each their own. As he gathers the books into his arms, he examines each one for damage that might have to be paid for. He’s not sure exactly how the currency in this world correlates to what they know, so it was better to avoid any… expensive accidents.
“ Instead of just acting like I have three heads, kindly assist me in picking these up. Books are integral in our situation so we can have context to the world. ”
⁝ ▹ IF Doppo could have one wish in this moment it would be that the earth open up, wide mouthed and hungry, and devour him whole. He wishes it so fiercely that for a moment when his heart stutters in his chest -- it’s that anxiety attack that Sensei always warned him about -- he thinks perhaps a prayer has been answered.
It’s not though, and that’s depressing. “Yumeno... er,” he feels a slight flush on his face as he immediately bends down to help him pick up the fallen books. Oh, this is embarrassing. He’d really wanted to avoid the author, but maybe there was a silver lining to this? He thinks about it for a few moments as he stacks the books up and places them back from where they had fallen, and determines that there is no good that could come from this mishap. Doppo was... never good at finding the positives in things.
“I’m sorry,” he says as he bows his head. His mind races back to when he’d proudly declared he’d never apologize again -- something he’d said during the Matenrou and Fling Posse rap battle, and his face flushes more.

‘ You’re uh, Doppo-san, right? Are you alright? Do you need me to help you with anything? I can get you some water or something– ‘ wow, this was awkward.
⁝ ▹ DOPPO was indeed on the verge of falling straight forward. Exhaustion cut through him; he’d been out of work for days and there was no way there wouldn’t be a pile of extra paperwork when he got back if he even had a job and...
“Huh...?” he rubbed his eyes with his fist and tilted his head. This was... this was one of Jakurai’s former Dirty Dawg teammates. He recognized him from the first Division battle. “Oh, uh, water... would be really nice.” Oh, he was making a fool of himself, wasn’t he?

|| █ ▌— a familiar face is the last thing jakurai would have expected. still, he cannot help the smile that crosses his face at the sight of his friend. oh, he can only imagine how doppo has been holding up here ( not well, in all likelihood ), but still, the relief is clear in his expression, his gaze soft and fond.
❝ doppo… you’re here as well, ❞ he begins as he approaches him. ❝ i know the circumstances are less than ideal, but i’m glad… ❞

First, he’d spilled coffee all over himself, staining his shirt -- and as if that wasn’t enough, he tripped and spilled the rest of it all over another person’s shoes. He’d apologized so much that when he bowed, the fabric of his jacket ripped. There was no one here to help him sew it back here, he was going to have to buy another one, it’s all his fault it’s all his fault it’s all...
He’s pulled away from his thoughts as his eyes meet Jakurai’s. A wave of relief falls over him and he temporarily forgets about today’s events. “Sensei...! You’re here too?”

⁝ ▹ DOPPO is in a fog, his natural state of being -- and he feels in down to his bones. His eyes are heavy and he feels the gentle tug of sleep at his consciousness even if he’s apt to ignore it right now. Anxiety, a constant fuel beneath his skin, propels him forward; it’s only mid-day and he really doesn’t have any excuse to be so tired.
It is his fault, though, that he’s so sleepy -- he should have been better at making sure his sleep schedule was consistent since getting here. He let himself sleep in once and since then...
The internal monologue of berating himself is indeed cut short the moment he enters a small bookstore. He’s not sure what made him come in here (except, maybe, the idea of coffee and a comfortable chair) but it’s one of the people he distinctly does not want to see that causes him to pause.
He stares at Gentaro for a moment before taking a step to the side in an attempt to hide behind some bookcases, hoping he hasn’t seen him. He sighs, leans against the bookshelf and causes a precariously balanced pile of books to tumble down with a loud thud.
“Oh... great.”

⁝ ▹ ANXIETY bubbles within Doppo, and it’s not something he can necessarily stop or contain. On the outside he just looks sad, or even a little tired. Still, he wanders along as feet drag along the sidewalk. It’s getting later in the evening but no where close to sundown, so he’s not in danger. He still needs to find food for the day.
He stops in front of a small store and looks up at the sign. A small sigh escapes him as he tries the door and finds it locked, just another misfortune at add to the list. It’s his fault, really, he should have come out earlier or checked the times by calling the store ahead of time. He turns and faces another person who was nearby -- someone who upon retrospect may not have even been trying to enter the store -- and with an apologetic smile he addresses him.
“It looks like this is closed. I’m sorry.”

⁝ ▹ OH, Doppo does not like this place. His boss is probably losing his mind (and more hair) at his absence, and it’s not like Doppo can even call and explain the situation. What would he say, anyway? That he needs comp time, because he was kidnapped to another dimension?
Oh, this is all his fault. Being transported somewhere else... he shouldn’t have left himself so vulnerable. Foolish. And now he was going to lose his job and become homeless and...
“Ah--!” he bumps into someone else, and immediately takes a step back. Bowing and uttering many apologies he doesn’t even realize who it is until he stands up straight and meets Dice’s eyes.
“Oh.”
