Afternoon, everyone. I got the creator’s (@leeloodallasmultigrain) permission to rehost Muertitos on tumblr, so that’s what’s going on here.
This comic was so influential to me that I didn’t want it to disappear with its current ComicGenesis site, so I’m trying to share it with the world here on tumblr. I owe it a great debt for my style, humor, and preferred subject matter, so I wanted to give back a little bit.
The goal is to upload two strips a day. That means it will take a bit less than a year to finish queueing via Tumblr. If you like monsters, the afterlife, the supernatural, and comics dense with background jokes and references, I absolutely recommend giving it a look.

So Odin, right? He’s the Allfather king of the gods chopped up his giant dad and fed him to the sky. Dude has friends in high places is what I’m saying and all of those friends in high places they are all WAY overshadowed by the high place that Odin is at which is a big tower equipped with a chair that lets him check out ANY PERSON at ANY TIME so if anyone is going to be omnipotent it’s gonna be him, right? WRONG, SUGARTITS. THIS IS THE NORSE PANTHEON WHERE EVEN YOUR PRECIOUS GODS SUCK ASS AND DIE. Observe: So Odin is a guy who likes knowledge. He will do pretty much anything for knowledge all the way from reading the entire encyclopedia to this one time when he NAILED HIMSELF TO A TREE. YGDRASSIL, THE WORLD TREE, to be precise. How does one even nail one’s self to a tree? At a certain point I feel like you run out of hands to nail yourself with although I guess Odin is the Allfather and the least the Norse can do for their Allfather is give him extra hands to help CRUCIFY HIMSELF WITH. So why is he doing this? Well apparently he is doing this in order to invent writing. Yeah he has to sacrifice himself TO HIMSELF in order for some invisible switch to flip in the universe and unlock writing for everybody. He has to sacrifice himself for NINE DAYS to do this and during that time he does not eat or sleep or anything and he only stops when the nails actually RIP THROUGH HIS BODY and he falls down onto the ground screaming like you do when you’ve been nailed to a tree for nine days. And then he knows all these runes like the runes for increase and power and war and most importantly SEXUAL PROWESS. Yep, guys Odin stapled himself to a tree-stump for a week and a half in order to make his dick work more efficiently. That’s commitment. So the moral of the story is that you are not trying hard enough in bed. The end.
This one is obviously considered a long quote, according to the {Length} variable. From the Myths Retold! blog.
Brundlefly
Tumblr considers this one a short length quote.
Tags are in development as an OPTIONAL feature that can be tucked away and disabled if you don’t care for the clutter. Look out for this soon.
David Karp as of March 6, 2007 on the original WordPress blog for Tumblr. I know, right?
And then tags went on to become probably the biggest feature of Tumblr.
This is considered a medium length quote post by the {Length} variable.
This should be a Panorama post, and it comes with nonsensical EXIF information in case you want to have your theme deal with that, too.
Externally hosted photo post. This also has Wikipedia in its source, so if you're still doing the "source logos" thing it should trigger that.
Photoset post showing the three possible row layouts; one-up, two-up, and three-up. I went into this tumblr ipsum series attempting to be as bland and/or self-promoting as possible, and it took me like 5 posts to just start posting weird stuff from my filesystem. (Thanks to Asswave for most of these, wherever he is.)
I also added captions to each photo, so you you can experiment with how your theme deals with those.
Single image photo post; remember pretty much any kind of code can go in here! I also set a click-through link on this post in case that's important to your theme.

This is an example answer. Ever considered playing with the default anonymous avatar in your theme? I sure have.
And this is what it looks like when somebody reblogs an answer post now!

Long Text Post
Unlike the previous two, this text post will be very long, and show off common markup within the Tumblr ecosystem. All of the first set of markup is auto-generated by Tumblr's rich text editor, since only nerds use Markdown. Hardcoded HTML is more common.
This is a mention: tigts. This is a link, set to open in a new tab/window.

This image is smaller than the 500px width limit.
This one has automatically been resized to 500px by the built-in uploader.
This one is an externally hosted image inserted into the image's src attribute.
Lists are frequent.
Usually for comedic timing, or "I'm gonna lay down the facts for you tone of voice."
Thankfully, most Tumblr users don't care about the idea of "nesting tags," so it's rare to see lists used for anything complex.
Whether they use an ordered or unordered list for unordered or ordered content is completely up to chance.
Really, the fact that the two have their own HTML tag seems a little inelegant when you think about it. But most of early HTML was very, very inelegant.
Blockquotes aren't used too frequently independently, as they resemble reblogs very closely. It still happens, however, so this example is useful.
That about does it for the built-in rich editor options. Here are some examples of user-constructed custom HTML:
Users love putting odd captions in pre tags. You almost never see them used for actual code, but it could happen.
They also cheat in "small text" using the superscript and subscript tags.
Once upon a time there was a great deal of big(ger) and small(er) tag abuse, but ever since the Dashboard stopped honoring their display their use has dropped off.

You'll also see embedded tweets and other media like this, but again the dashboard doesn't display them for security reasons so they're not common unless below a read more break. Speaking of which...

This is a post with example content designed to show what sorts of content is too common on Tumblr. This particular post is just a regular old, short text post. (Did you know it was once called a Regular Post?)
