Arch finds himself in a wetland of sorts. He's surrounded by many many animals and the sun shines on him without mercy. The algae block the view of the water and make it murky, while the trash blocks whatever the algea didn't manage to obscure. He sees dragonflies dance around him, circling him like drones, ready for attack. A heron hunts for fish in the distance.
He's on earth.
He doesn't remember why he knows that, why he knows all those creatures' names (why he knows that they're all probably extinct by now). He doesn't understand how he's seeing colors that don't exist.
There's a building in the distance. He knows it's a power plant. He knows that he hates that place. He avoids looking at it.
The bird watches him.
Since when is he standing in the water? Has it always been this hot? Where is the door?
The grip of the mud is freezing while the water boils him alive. The sterile stench of concrete walls and plastic chairs invades his nose as the flourescent sun stings in his eyes with a buzz even as he closes them.
He remembers now: he's dreaming. This is a dream.
He needs to get away from here, whereever here is. He needs to wake up.
Wake up in that lab. Meet the man.
Paralyzed he sinks fast in the black grime with every step the bird takes to approach him, wings outstretching in a warning gesture. Their eyes lock with the despair of knowing this is a dream, knowing who (not what) the bird represents; the despair of knowing anything at all.
He doesn't know! He can't; he makes sure of it.
Suddenly, Arch is falling, not sinking. The wetland isn't more than a faint memory, a fleeting feeling of nondescript colors and sensations that get peeled away from his soul the longer he drops into the darkness around him.
He screamed at first, resisted fate, but he quickly notices his voice is gone and his body goes limp in the comfort of the security gravity holds him with. 9,81m/s. Now he is silent, the only sound his heavy heart. Though the pounding feels far away and his chest feels hollow, he hears it loud and clear, hammering away in his skull like a drum.
Bumbumbumbumbumbum.
Each beat hits him stronger than the next. The nonexistent blunt force trauma making his body ache while it still just keeps descending down and down and down; heeding the call of gravity. Of the @heavy-force that holds the universe together, just as much as it's tearing it apart.
With that thought he suddenly crashes through a plane, the sound deafening. The black barrier bursts into shards and reveals a flood of light beneath him. A light so blinding he feels like he can see less now than before.
His fall halts.
Something caught his wrist.
Someone caught his wrist.
He screams without sound as the foreign hand burns itself into his skin.
He awakes, his wrist itchy. He scratches it until it bleeds and wonders why he feels like this happened before.
He refuses to fall asleep again. The sun will rise soon anyway, better get up and be productive now.
i think people get so used to their own creative work that they forget how amazing it is so i’m making this post as a reminder You are the only person capable of making art the exact way you make it. nobody else on earth can do that. there are always going to be those little habits and intricacies and details that simply cannot be replicated whether it’s in writing or painting or textiles and you make life all the better for it i love my friends’ art i love art from strangers im trying to love my own art I LOVE YOU!!! THE PERSON READING THIS!!!!!!! YOU ARE A PART OF THIS WORLD NEVER EVER STOP MAKING THINGS THAT CAN IMPACT IT
I used to use Google docs, but the white mode only was really annoying me (tires my eyes), so I swapped to Ellipsus (which I genuinely love and recommend), but it was bothering me a bit that I need wifi in order to use it, so now I switched to LibreOffice Writer, which I do like.
It very much has a Microsoft Word feel, but is open source and you need no accounts to use it. It's local on your device, so no AI can scan it, and no wifi is needed.
I still wish it had the Google Docs cards, because, bitch, that thing is so good for easy organizing.
