~ Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj ~
11:11
Holding the mind firmly in awareness means shifting focus from the content of your thoughts to the space in which they occur. Instead of getting swept away by daily mental chatter, you intentionally step back to observe your thoughts, emotions, and surroundings as a passive witness. 🪶
11:11
The Gospel of Thomas was excluded from the canonical Bible in 367 AD by Athanasius of Alexandria. It comprises 114 sayings attributed to Jesus, devoid of miracles, birth narrative, resurrection story, and instructions necessitating a priest, building, or institutional intermediary. Saying 3 states: "The kingdom is inside you and outside you. When you know yourself, you will be known." Saying 70 reads: "If you bring forth what is within you, it will save you. If you do not bring it forth, it will destroy you." Saying 2 advises: "Seek until you find. When you find, you will be troubled. When troubled, you will marvel." Notably, these verses mention no institution, building, priest, hierarchy, or tithe. An individual who discovers the kingdom within themselves requires no external structure to maintain their connection to it. The gospel's removal likely stemmed not from its inaccuracy but from its efficacy as a self-sufficient spiritual guide, unencumbered by institutional intermediaries.
