shoulders and legs pretty dedge after, but pretty worth it
hikes in april
april 17 pa’rus trail, 3.5 miles, ~2 hours bc we stopped to look at ants! otherwise, active time was 20 mph pace. very good family hike and nice weather
april 18 bryce canyon, queens arch, sunrise to sunset rim; ~3 miles total, casual 23 mph pace. trails were icy and not that paved, and the ones that were better paved were pretty busy sadge. views were fantastic!
april 20 arches, various hikes: ~5miles total in the day, very casual 25 mph pace. chose the small hikes, very family friendly and able to see a ton of arches in one day (: we also got a late start and were still able to make time to go back and see the stars! gonna learn constellations hehe
april 29 local peak, 7 miles ~28 mph uphill (2,000 ft elevation!), ~24 mph downhill (mobbin). a workout!! not family friendly and not much shade. the trail is not primitive, but very rocky so boots are a must.
april 19
~18 miles mountain bike!!!! total ~6 hours
canyonlands, isle in the sky --> boat ramp
notes: - mt biking is hard, uphill is killer, rocks are no joke
- stay hydrated, layers are good too
feb 25
~13.5 miles; 10.5 mph pace
home -> coffee shop -> bagel shop (bust) -> brunch restaurant -> train station
notes: - good pace for shorter ride! could add more miles at this pace
- reached 12 mph during the cruise in the middle (thanks flat roads!)
- sunscreen is always a good idea
feb 18
~26 miles; ~9.5 mile per hour pace
home -> bagel shop -> park -> home
notes: - bagels were good, could use a heartier filling or more veggies overall (for refueling)
- more stretching afterwards needed
- proper fueling is important, affects seen on mental in following days
- length was good, very doable for a half day ride; felt very nice for the average pace. we went a lot faster (avg. 10 mph) on the way home since we wanted to beat the dark, which probably contributed to a lot more soreness lol
- path was good, turns out paved roads are nice to ride on, and bike boulevards are great to minimize traffic (:
- weather turned cold FAST, need to figure out bike packing for layers
