Hatice Muazzez Sultan

Born in Poland in 1629,her name was Eva and probably she was Jewish. She became a spouse of Sultan Ibrahim I and gave birth to Ahmed II. She died four years before Ahmed accesion to the throne,so she wasn’t Valide.

She was known of her mild character and   she didn’t feel need to rule. Turhan Hatice played the first fiddle in harem,so I think Muazzez kept herself to herself.

Note: 

The slight inaccuracies associated with the number of children from little known concubines or Sehzades those that died soon after birth.Also it concerns “the second generation” - sultanzade and sultanas.Most often their names are not known or not precisely known the number of children some daughters of the Sultan.

There may be some typos with the dates - if you noticed that I am much mistaken (attributed to years of life of Suleyman to any child Murad lol ) send a message - I will correct this error.

From the European point of view of the Ottoman Harem was secretive, closed-world,and women living in it - a mystery.For Western women,cosmetics used in the harems was exotic and effective;special rituals to maintain the beauty committed by women of the Sultan were a secret they wanted to know.Actually,the Ottoman women did not use any special beauty tricks,only what they have inherited from centuries-old symbiosis of medicine and cosmetology.

One of the important components of makeup was kohl also known as kol, kehal or kohal in the Arab world,and surma or kajal in South Asia, is a cosmetic typically made by grinding galena (lead sulfide) and other ingredients.It was originally used as protection against eye ailments.

Perfume have been known to exist in some of the earliest human civilizations.It is believed that “favorite” sultana’s fragrance was sweet and consisted of ambergris or labdanum, often combined with vanilla, tonka bean and flowers.In France (1750-e) believed that the perfume used by Ottoman harem women was in itself a strong aphrodisiac that can attract any man.

Important part of a daily skin care is the use of essential oils.A list of useful health properties of essential oils it is difficult to count:moisturizing,cleansing,antiseptic properties.The aroma of essential oil was helped relieve headaches,get rid of fatigue etc.

But the most important “beauty secret” was the hamam.For skin was used soap was boiled on olive oil with added herbs and rose oil,for hair - with extract of flowers of hibiscus and jasmine.
