Norris Geyser Basin at Sunset
Every now and then, it pays to follow your muse. Accompanied by my longtime friend Brant Nyberg, we left Bozeman last Sunday at 4PM for a photo drive through Yellowstone. Our timing put us in the Norris Geyser Basin at 8:30PM - just in time to catch shots like this one. This was my last shot of the night - three frames combined in CS5 and processed in LR3. Shot with my Olympus E30 and 50-200mm Zuiko.
Yellowtail Reservoir - Montana/Wyoming Border
Here's a panoramic shot of Yellowtail Reservoir in northern Wyoming. I've given this shot some love in post using OnOne's Perfect Photo Tools suite after tweaking the individual frames in Lightroom. The 70s vibe felt right for this one! Shot with my Olympus E30 and 14-45mm Zuiko.
Washington DC Pano from Arlington House
Here's a stitch of four separate frames taken during our fall 2011 trip to DC. Arlington National Cemetery is a sobering place, but a welcome respite from the crowds down the hill...
Cheyne Walk, London
Another example of Adobe's Pixel Bender plugin, this time using a seed image I captured on London's Cheyne Walk several years ago. I think I could overdo playing with this pretty easily!
Maui Flowers - a la Pixel Bender
I discovered Adobe's Pixel Bender plugin for CS5 earlier today. I was intrigued by the Oil Painting filter, so I downloaded the plugin and gave it a shot tonight after work. Very impressed with the speed - because it leverages the GPU, updates are almost instant. Quick, easy, done. Here's the output of one experiment - a shot of Maui flowers taken during my last trip to the island.
Gettysburg
At the end of our recent trip to Washington, DC, we decided to devote our last day to visiting the hallowed ground of Gettysburg. We didn't have nearly enough time to spend the time this place deserves, but I'm glad we had a chance to visit nonetheless. Taken with my Olympus E30 and Zuiko 50-200mm lens.
Echoes
Vistas like this one make me thankful to live in a great place like Montana. It may not be heaven, but I think God drops some pretty strong clues. Shot in the mountains near Cooke City.
Vintage
Sure, it's a new sled - but it looks pretty classy with a retro treatment. Shot near Cooke City, Montana - New Year's Eve 2011.
Smoke
Sometimes, it's just about the cold smoke. Taken in the mountains near Cooke City, MT - New Year's Eve 2011.
Float
Had some fun in post with this shot - floating through several feet of fresh powder is certainly a dream for some of us! Shot New Year's Eve 2011 near Cooke City, Montana.
Waves
They tell me you can think of snowmobiling as riding a jet ski through snow. Taken in the mountains near Cooke City, Montana on New Year's Eve 2011.
Cooke City Christmas Card
Dear Santa,
All my father-in-law wants for Christmas this year is a new Ski Doo - and a new orange coat so Tim quits whining about drab colors when he's shooting sledding shots...
Shot with my Olympus E30 and Zuiko 50-200mm; post-processed in Lightroom 3.
If I can see you...
Here's the second in my series of moose images shot Christmas Day, 2011. This bull stared me down for just a moment, and then went back to more interesting matters. Shot with my Olympus E30 and Zuiko 50-200mm lens.
Shake
Here's a shot taken on Christmas Day near Silver Gate, Montana. A pair of bull moose were just across the river from our cabin; my brother-in-law and I busted through the snow to get close enough for a series of shots. It's great to see moose back in the neighborhood! Taken with my Olympus E30 and Zuiko 50-200mm lens.
