Thinking… about operation mincemeat… Monty…
I know it was out of necessity but Hidgens being the role that changes for each production is actually amazing bc each actor has given such a unique portrayal of him and SSN. It really gives each production a fresh feel
Someone at the show this afternoon tell me if Paul tucked Emma’s hair back at the end of act 1 or if the altitude from the top of the balcony is making me hallucinate
Might just choose to believe this is real until proven otherwise
He did at the Saturday matinee!!!
Anyway saw Operation Mincemeat for the first time and Monty was played by Madeline Jackson Smith and I genuinely thought I was a lesbian for 4 hours after bc I was so attracted to her
Wait I get to see a Starkid show tomorrow!! 13 year old me living in Ireland thought I’d never get the chance! I’m so excited 🥺
While we’re on the topic of TGWDLM:R, here’s a reminder appropriate/not appropriate ways to show your love for the show if you’re seeing it live:
✅ Cheering/clapping when the house lights go down: yes absolutely!! It’s an exciting moment!!
✅ Cheering/clapping at the end of numbers: 10000% yes!! Perfect time to show appreciation
✅ Laughing at jokes: of course! It’s a funny show
✅ Cheering/clapping at intermission: yes! They just killed the first act. Clap through the whole intermission if you want
✅ Organic reactions: no problem! But the key is organic (I’m thinking about the audience reaction in the scene where Bill tries to save Alice as an example - people are in the moment! They’re invested!)
✅ Cheering/clapping at the end of the show: fucking absolutely!!!! Go wild!! Give Lauren the fourth wall break nightmare she deserves!!
🚫 Screaming/cheering/clapping over the start of the opening number: no! If you’re still going when Jeff starts singing you’ve gone too long
🚫 Screaming/cheering/clapping at people’s entrances: no! I know you love them. I know you want to let them know. But save it for those appropriate moments. The comedic timing of this show was already great and they’ve finessed it even more, so don’t stop the flow. Even for cameos I know people will be excited about! Even for your favourite actor/character!
🚫 Any kind of heckling: definitely not!! This is not an interactive show. They don’t need you to make jokes or give commentary. Same for exaggerated dramatic reactions
🚫 Saying the lines/singing the songs: hard fucking no!!!!! You know them all. Same! But keep it in your head. People aren’t paying to hear you, they’re paying to hear the cast. Save the singing/quoting along out loud for the digital ticket/youtube version at home!
Multiple members of the cast have expressed their wish for good audience etiquette. They’ve worked so so hard on this show so let them perform it the way they want to without interruption, as well intentioned as it may be! I promise they will still feel the love!
TGWDLM:R West End opens in TWO WEEKS(!!!!!?!!!) so it’s time to bring back this (Joey and Lauren endorsed!) post
I feel like it’s a particularly important reminder because the two shows we’ve had in London until now have been concerts so yes being the loudest audience in palladium history was a great thing for those but that’s not the energy we should be bringing here!! We want enthusiastic but not disruptive
A rule of thumb, if a general audience member who’s never seen this or any of the hatchetfield shows wouldn’t understand why you’re making noise, then don’t do it! Because there 100% will be people in the audience who’ve never seen the show before and may not even be familiar with starkid so not only do they deserve to have the best experience too but we want to make a good impression and not put them off checking out their other work/coming to another starkid show in the west end which is definitely totally happening
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN WE FINALLY HAVE OUR HIDGENS
Booked my hotel for TGWDLM:R London I can’t believe this is really happening LFGGGGG
Hello team Starkid. Hope you are keeping well. Who will be Hidgens in the UK? Kind regards, literally everyone
Sometimes it doesn’t feel real that I am genuinely going to see a Starkid show live like I’m so excited
Nerdy Prudes Must Die is now available for licensing!
Curveball: what if we get Brian Rosenthal as Hidgens for TGWDLM London
Also hype as FUCKKKK to be in the stalls!! I hope the ppl who sit next to me will be nice!!
Lowkey cannot believe I’m going to fly to London, see TGWDLM, then fly back to Ireland that night
Anyone going to TGWDLM May 16th matinee?? And would like to be friends??
SEE YALL IN LONDON MAY 16th AT 2:30PM IN THE STALLS FOR TGWDLM WEST END PREMIERE🔥🔥🔥🔥
