Gaza' Rafah Crossing is due to open next week. On Tuesday, to be exact, as Ibrahim (@aburakhiaibrahim) told me. When it opens, thousands of Palestinians will be able to reunite with their families overseas. But not Ibrahim and his family, even though his sister in Canada has applied to the Canadian government for family reunification. They simply do not have the money to make the crossing. It has been 15 years since Ibrahim has last seen his sister.

Ibrahim does not even have the money to buy the medication that he needs. He was in a coma for 3 days because of his condition, and he also needs a surgery for his eye. Moreover, he is caring for his elderly parents, and his mother in particular suffers from several health problems, including diabetes and a herniated disk.

With the situation in Gaza now, with most buildings destroyed and no jobs available, these donations are Ibrahim and his family's only source of income.
