In the first of a series of live events as part of the Ensign Sgr A* exhibition at Radiator Gallery, the artist Aviram Cohen presents a live soundscape utilising his installation titled Sarff Sleep Machine. The installation is comprised of a contact microphone placed on a metal fan. The audio from the fan is then run through a pile of electronic controllers and played from a direction speaker hanging in front of the fan. This chain of fan, controllers and speaker forms a feedback loop air, movement and sound. For the approximately 30 min performance, Cohen brings the controllers off the shelf and plays the environment for you. About Aviram Cohen: Beginning in his late teens he has performed in a very wide range of music groups from garage punk (The Bad Form) to soft jazz (Soiled Mattress and The Springs) to synth group SIlk Flowers. Today he continues his practice in a more distilled form. Abandoning rhythm and melody to experiment with texture and tone.
