Do you have any neurodivergent headcanons for Clank and Bobble?
Of course! Heck, I feel like Iâd have a hard time headcanoning (thatâs a verb, rightâŠ?) anyone from the pixie hollow cast as neurotypical.
But you are asking about my favorite boys.
I see both of them on the spectrum, which is one of the main reasons why I gravitate to them so much. Theyâre like me!
So I think I made a post several years ago about how I imagine their thought processes generally work.
Bobble for instance, I like to think his thoughts run a mile a minute, and can only really keep up with his own thoughts while working on a project. And when presented with a problem, he would start making mental lists of potential solutions rapidly.
I like to use Terence in the second film as an example for this. When he asks Bobble for a Sharp Thingy, you can see Bobble immediately ponder. I feel like his thoughts would go âsharp thingyâŠ. A knife, a pin, a spear⊠(Clank: how âbout a stick?) aye, of course a stick. Broken shells, jagged rocks, rose thorns, (Clank: a stick can be pretty sharp!)â And Bobble never ends up giving Terence an answer. But he does seem to be pondering through that whole sequence.
But I also feel like he can get stuck in his own ways. Like if he thinks something SHOULD work, but then it doesnât⊠heâll get annoyed and frustrated as he tries the same failed solution over and over again.
Clank on the other hand, when faced with a problem, I see him finding one answer that he thinks will work, and sticks with it, even if there are better, more obvious solutions.
Take the Terence scene again. âHow about a stick?â Clank offers, to which Terence (confused as to where Clankâs voice came from) says no, he needs a sharp thingy majiggy. âA stick can be pretty sharp!â Heâs not wrong, of course, but Terence already said no to a stick, and he still suggested it. However, I do think Clank is easier to bend to better solutions when provided with more information. Since he suggests âdid you try the cove?â the second he knew it was to help Tink. He knows her obsession with lost things, and surely heâd find something there. But anyway, moving on.
One thing I also notice about them (whether itâs tied to neurodivergence or not) is they seem to have a fear of getting in trouble, especially with Fairy Mary. Especially in the first movie when they were making the wagon repairs or trying to cover for Tink, I could feel their anxiety when Fairy Mary showed up. I dunno how else I want to elaborate on thisâŠ
Hmm⊠OH! Also Clank is dyslexic. I have nothing to back this up, but heâs for sure dyslexic.
