If I really talked about every little thing I loved about him, it would take me days to write it up, and it would be an infinitely long post, so how about this: I’ll list a few things I love about him, both physical and personality-wise. ♡

what I love about Paul physically:

I’m sure I could go on and on, but those are just a few things about him I love. I really love how dedicated he is as a person, how, as Flake put it, he’s the one that grabs the reins when the others are slacking. He is definitely a no-nonsense kind of guy when it calls for it, but usually, he is all for nonsense. He’s a goofball that loves, but also a smart man who knows what needs to be done, and what needs to be said! He is whimsical, but he is also extremely realistic. ♡

Silent Oliver looking fabulous

Since I got reminded of this interview today, I figured I would post it. It is a Spanish interview from 1997 with Flake Lorenz and Oliver Riedel. And because these two Rammstein members were the worst at English at the time, Oliver decided to let Flake do all the talking while he just stood next to him, looking absolutely fabulous.

Highlight of the interview: About one minute in, Flake demonstrating the only thing that Rammstein can play, which makes Oliver smile.

"You can be sure the world isn't rid of us yet." Excerpts from an interview with Paul Landers at the Werchter Festival in July 2010.

"Almost every night I get minor burns. But don't worry: they're only first-degree burns; they don't cause permanent damage. And for a good performance, you have to be prepared for some discomfort."

The interviewer mentioned that the LIFAD album

was briefly on the German registry of prohibited goods due to "Ich tu dir weh" and "Pussy."

"Are you allowed to do anything, or are there any restrictions?"

I liked Paul's answer, so direct and witty.

"Listen, one artist is named Albrecht Dürer, and he paints a hare. Another is named Hieronymus Bosch, and he paints horrific scenes. I don't think it was because Bosch wanted to provoke, but because these aspects of life interested him, and he liked what he created. It's the same with us. Rammstein is the Hieronymus Bosch of music (laughs). And yes, we like to push boundaries. That doesn't mean that everything is permitted, and that we do everything without thinking. For example, the idea for a pornographic video was the director's, and not everyone supported it right away. But Rammstein operates as a democratic society, without veto rights. If four out of six support the idea, we implement it.

As for this indexation, well, that's typically German, right? We are valued abroad more than in our own country. Many of our compatriots still have a hard time accepting the fact that we sing in German, that we don't We're desperately trying to hide our German identity. A lot of Germans still have issues with their origins and history, and it's probably going to be that way for a while."

As for whether headlining a festival is a good thing, Paul also didn't hold back.

"I like playing festivals, if only because it gives a musician the opportunity to see a lot of other bands. This is our third appearance at Werchter. Although I do regret that we're headlining. That means we're playing last after a long festival day, which means the crowd is tired, and in some cases, even drunk. These aren't the most ideal conditions for a band. So I'd prefer to play a little earlier. But most bands don't want to play after our set because they're afraid their music will be drowned out by our theatrical show."

When asked if they think Rammstein is finished.

"Actually, we've been thinking about this since the very beginning (laughs). Those were crazy years. We had some big fights, some of us lost touch with reality for a while, others experienced periods of selfishness, but everything always worked out in the end, and frankly, the atmosphere in the band has never been so harmonious. Almost frighteningly harmonious, even. Rammstein has never been as fun as it is now. So rest assured: the world is not rid of us yet."
