Chenford Week, Day 1: Outsider POV

Joy has never seen her son this happy. Granted she’s been more or less absent from the finer details of his life for the last twenty years, but still. From what Tim allowed her to know and see before compared to now, she can confidently say her son has never been happier. 

He is so unburdened by the trauma they endured, the hardships he faced in his twenties, the little she knew about his first wife and the beginning of his time in the LAPD. 

Tim is a version of himself that Joy has always longed for him to be. 

And she has a sneaking suspicion that one dark haired ray of sunshine is the reason. 

She’s never met anyone quite like Lucy Chen. Someone so pure of heart, beautiful inside and out. 

The way she loves Tim, protects him — it’s more than any mother could ask for her son. 

She offers a member of the waitstaff a quick thank you as he hands her a fresh glass of wine, eyes still focused on the newlyweds at their sweetheart table. 

It was a beautiful ceremony, nestled in the back gardens of Patrice Evers’ home — there wasn’t a dry eye during the couple's vows — and now an even more beautiful reception. She doesn’t know much of the wealthy woman, only that she is Angela’s mother-in-law and much kinder than Joy would have thought. 

Opening up her home to Tim and Lucy when she heard they were looking to plan a small wedding sooner rather than later — eager to be married after the ordeal they’d just endured.
