"Hey, Hot short stack we have to go, the first drift will be soon."
"I’m sorry, was that directed at me?"
Neal flipped his hair out of his face wen she asked if their jaeger was actually called Eaglethrust. He grinned smugly, “Yeah, named it myself. I’m personally fond of it.” In reality, Neal hadn’t drifted with many people. He had only had one other partner and he couldn’t even remember their name. Not that their name mattered, they weren’t even female.
He knew right away that she was annoyed with him, but he didn’t care, not one bit. Why would he when she only seemed to be three feet tall?
Of course he had. Liv fought back an eye roll. If she didn’t make some attempt to converse with him now, there was no way this was going to go well. She hadn’t been with him for more than five minutes and she was already on edge. “Congratulations?” She said, unable to keep the sarcasm from seeping into her tone. They entered the Jaeger bay just as she spoke, and Liv was happy for it. It meant she wouldn’t have to force conversation much longer.
Neal turned to look at her, walking in front now as a smirk creeped onto his face. “You know, we could celebrate later, just you and me.” He barely watched where he was going, only looking out so that he didn’t fall over a ledge or something stupid like that, but if someone got in the way that was their fault, not his.
He could see his jaeger out of the corner of his eye now, it was mostly white, with stripes of dark cobalt blue and a dark red running down the arms and legs. Where it wasn’t white anyone could see the light grey color of the original metal. Neal loved his paintjob, having designed it himself.
"No way in hell, Pattleson." She shot back. As they approached the bay, Liv looked around, trying to find the Jaeger she'd been assigned to. Her eyes skimmed across several of the others, the ones she recognized and didn't, but they stopped on one in particular. It was theirs. She didn't even have to ask. The paint job, like her new drift partner was... obnoxious. He'd painted it red white and blue, presumably out of some attempt to be patriotic. Then again, he had named it Eaglethrust, so Liv didn't really know what she was expecting. "That one, right?" She asked, pointing and trying not to look too put off by the paint.
