I feel like I need to be following more people who post/reblog British comedy stuff, but don't know where to start.
SERIES 11: EPISODES 1 AND 2 STILLS
Dear @lyricara, Dear @sparklemouse,
It has taken me a little over two years to get the guts to send this post to you. In late May of 2014, I drove myself to Long Beach Island to see Barnegat Light. I had read Atlantis for the very first time in late 2012 and when I tell you that it saved and changed my life, I’m not kidding. I’d been through the wringer with a horrific situation that lasted for more than two years. When I found this story, I was broken. Over the course of the week that I read it, all of the little pieces of myself that I had believed were lost forever slowly started to come back to me. Atlantis reminded me of who I was and that there was goodness and light inside of me and in the world. Since that time, I have returned to Atlantis’ pages more times than I can count. Each time that I read the words, I gain another insight. There isn’t a piece of writing that exists to which I owe more. Atlantis has become a revelation, a reminder, a solace, a guide, and a teacher.
There really aren’t words that can adequately convey my gratitude to you for writing and sharing this story. I feel like it’s almost taken on a beautiful life of it’s own because it has touched so many people’s lives. All I can say is “Thank you” really and truly from the bottom of my heart. I’m getting weepy typing this! But if you only knew what you have done for me and for so many readers - you taught us that feeling lost is not the end of our story and if we are patient, kind, and ask for help - we can always be “gloriously” found.
I came upon that orange leather bound journal before I made the trip to LBI and I decided it was fate! It reminded me so much of Bernadette, with the Saint Augustine quote: “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page.”
The journal rests on my bookshelf now, along with my photos of Old Barney. Atlantis gave me back the missing pieces of myself and that day on LBI, I felt like I was returning the favor and bringing Suhaili back home.
All my love (thank you, thank you, thank you, always) Megan xo
I just bawled. I’ll be back, but this just left me speechless. ❤️
A month I have been away from my socials. How many people have checked on me?? Not one. Not one person has noticed I have been missing. Amazing when I am generally quite a prolific user of those sites. I guess now I am of no use to anyone I have ceased to exist for them. Never let anyone get close to you, it seriously isn't worth it.
