A carved soapstone artifact called the Zimbabwe Bird is the national emblem of the country. Its likeness is found on currency, national flags and coats of arms. It's thought to be a representation of a bateleur eagle or an African fish eagle. Multiple Zimbabwe Birds exist and were discovered in the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, a city dating back to the 11th century. The exact significant of these statues is unknown.
Zimbabwe has eight Olympic medals, seven of which were won by swimmer Kristy Coventry in 2004 and 2008! The eighth was won by the women's field hockey team in 1980!
