Druid Knowledge of Death- a #ConsciousDisruption
'With regard to their actual course of studies, the main object of all education is, in their opinion, to imbue their scholars with a firm belief in the indestructibility of the human soul, which, according to their belief, merely passes at death from one tenement to another; for by such doctrine alone, they say, which robs death of all its terrors, can the highest form of human courage be developed. Subsidiary to the teachings of this main principle, they hold various lectures and discussions on astronomy, on the extent and geographical distribution of the globe, on the different branches of natural philosophy, and on many problems connected with religion.’
—Julius Caesar,De Bello Gallico, VI, 13 (on Druids)
After our Wizard Coming Out party last week, I have come to embrace and love my connection to my celtic druid roots. The Romans feared the druids, due to their deep reverence for death. Some circular druid homes had family members buried inside, as ancestors offered a level of protection to the living. Many of the stone ruins around England and Ireland are the druid burial sites. Stonehenge is theorized to be a druid homage to death and the afterlife.
Growing up in the suburbs of Boston to an Irish Catholic family, my four siblings and I blossomed with life and energy. Underneath this external showcase of life, hid the death that all Connors children know intimately. My mother gave birth to a baby, Katie, on September 13th 1978, and she lived until December 15th of that same year. She was born with a unique genetic disorder, genetic dislocation; her death wrapped our mother in grief, as she consistently feared the harm of the rest of us. The older children knew the graveyard well, almost as if our dead were buried in our home.
My uncle Toby, prior to retirement, was a grave digger. He spent decades burying other’s relatives, as well as his own. Whenever anyone special in his life passed, he (and later on, the rest of the men in the family) would fill said ancestor’s fresh grave with a shovel. We all knew this, accepted it, and understood how close our uncle stood to death daily.
Members of my family have suffered from depression, and the meditation on death is present in our genome, more than most. My biggest #ConsciousDisruption came in August of 2011, one month prior to Occupy Wall Street, when I stood atop the Manhattan Bridge and contemplated suicide. In 2012 I was one of the thousands of pedestrians hit by a car in NYC. It appears that I continued to get what I was meditating on.
My months out in the city were a further dive into my abyss, as I felt the dirt behind my head at night, and tasted what dust to dust really means. By knowing death intimately, I realized my fears and demons, and what stopped me from living as a Creator.
Life feels so invigorating, and death is what makes it so. Without death, life’s sweetness wouldn’t be. That said, we are Eternal, dying and regrowing like plants. What can we as Eternal Beings, who have conquered our fear of Death, Create? Is this the Epoch of abundance and health for all of humanity?

The Assembly To Testify
(Inspired by Alain De Botton's article: 'What the rich Want and Why We Should Give it To Them.')
Looking at our society using Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs as a backdrop, the winners of our current marketplace typically have their needs met up to the level of Esteem. So the 'stars' of our society are those who have achieved, those who 'have,' those who obtain respect (and envy) of other market participants.
The Self-Actualization category is not looked at as the "peak state" of our market construct. Alain de Botton argues (in the article above) that by offering the 'rich' a societal incentive (honor in particular,) we can 'hack' the proclivities of market Masters into operating at a higher level on Maslow's Hierarchy, therefore pulling all of society up with them. Since Actualized beings have a more holistic and moral perspective, the theory goes that we will all benefit.
I have another idea (developed alchemically with my business partner Kiril Ravensong): To create a new spiritual expression, targeting game changers in our world to act together in union. Here's the pitch:
Assembly To Testify
TESTIFY-
We gather once weekly with people of all faiths and denominations who have committed to make a lasting impact to change the World, and that have subscribed to our Minimal Viable Belief.
Minimal Viable Belief- MVB
1) We all believe in some higher energy, Diety (or ies), Universal Construct, or God
2) We are all committed to changing the world for the better
All attendees commit to either having a project they are working on for the greater good, or come to the Assembly to discover a project to plug into.
Weekly meeting format:
Group Meditation followed by community leaders discussing their projects with the Assembly. 2 hour timeframe.
We aren't here to Preach; We are here to TESTIFY
(Minimal Viable Belief credited to Reverend Ken Howard, St. Nicholas Episcopal Church, winner of the People's Choice Award at LEAN IMPACT DC)
Dear Fallen Angels,
Did you make a mistake, at the time of the Fall? Did you seduce other angelic ones with the Daughters of Man? Did you take a role, for us all to see our own darkness; to give us a chance to see our inner light?
Are you mad at the Father, are you lashing out because you feel unloved? Do you hate yourself and others? Do you really just want to be seen?
Is your darkness in us all? Are we here to overcome it? Blessings to the fallen, and Redemption is here for us all.

The Separation of Corporation and State
-Brought to you by #ConsciousDisruption
Rumor has it, back in the mid 1600’s, Roger Williams was stirring up some sentiment amongst his fellow ‘dissidents’ in what is now Rhode Island. He was fighting for recognition of the meme- Separation of Church and State. He and his counterparts were paving the way for a #ConsciousDisruption, and with the enactment of the 1st amendment of the US Constitution in 1781, they were finally successful.
Today’s world is more interrelated and interconnected than in the days of the American Revolution. Nowadays, there are Corporations with larger ‘GDP’s’ than the world’s 25th largest country. The intermingling of corporate interests in our geo political landscape is undeniable, and many in the world just accept this as ‘it is the way it is.’
Are we the new ‘dissidents’ of Rhode Island, seeking a world that makes sense, an economy of balance, as well as personal health and abundance? Is the idea of a present day #ConsciousDisruption that farfetched?
We don’t think so. Join us; Let’s Build the Future.
My darkness to burn away-
Anger
Lustfulness
Hatred
Impatience
I've got one tiny life to burn away the darkness. Let's not pretend to be perfect. Will you be light?

Social Entrepreneurs: Let's Embrace #ConsciousDisruption
Technologists frequently think of ways to Disrupt industry. Many entrepreneurs and VC investors look at network theory and studies of ecosystems as a framework for finding new ventures to back or embark upon. Business school graduates foam at the mouth on books like the Innovator's Dilemma, and they continuously scour the marketplace for incumbent firms to Disrupt. TechCrunch even has a yearly conference around the globe called "Disrupt," such ethos has permeated the consciousness of the technology world.
Another hot sector in business is social entrepreneurship. Talented recent college graduates know intuitively that our world is going to require a 'reboot,' and organizations like B Corps, Good Business New York, MakeImpact NY, and Be Social Change are aggregating the business-minded toward a more honest living. Conscious fashion companies like Zady and Vaute Couture change the way the beautiful dress, and foodies are seeking out delicacies from entrepreneurs who pay their famers, and their staff, a livable wage. Tiny homes and living spaces are becoming hot, as 'consumers' are realizing that life with limited consumption can be fulfilling and beautiful, and forward thinking companies like the Itsy Bitsy Ritzy Shop are crafting quality, local furniture to meet the needs of such a crowd. Markets are seeking to recalibrate toward a more human way of doing business.
Socially minded businesses are more 'conscious' than traditional businesses. They, unlike technologists, seem reluctant to embrace the meme of Disruption. Many quality upstarts have difficulty rising their message of quality goods above the noise of greenwashing advertising campaigns.
How can more socially minded firms aggregate together to Disrupt the malevolent 'old guard?' How could the conscious fashion world begin pooling their communication resources to inform the public of toxicity, sweat shops, and pollution of many fast fashion companies. How can small furniture makers team together to communicate the enormous waste of companies like Ikea, all to help foster the new artisanal economy with local production? How can social entrepreneurs with a limited budget, buy into a conscious communication ecosystem?
#ConsciousDisruption- coming soon to a marketplace near you.
Spiritual Bypassing
“All who are into the spiritual have engaged in spiritual bypassing. We need to accept that we have or are using it to avoid our psychological issues and to feel better about ourselves. We must view this with genuine compassion and understanding, not judgment or denial. We must be aware of our capacity for spiritual bypassing. We need to stop impaling ourselves on various spiritual shoulds and practices and preoccupations of being nice, positive, and spiritual. We need to recognize and act on addressing our darker or less spiritual emotions, impulses and intentions and stop denying them as part of who we are. We must be aware of our need to be someone special, spiritual, advanced, and stop dividing everything positive and negative, higher and lower, spiritual and non-spiritual. We want to reach a state of immunity to suffering. Signs of spiritual bypassing include: Minimizing, superficializing, or negotiation of our shadow side and negativity. Global statements such as “everything is perfect” unfolding as it must. It’s all an illusion including your suffering. Just your ego. Spiritually rationalized avoidance of feeling deeply especially our less pleasant emotions. Efforts to eradicate the ego: The greater the pain of our unresolved wounds, the greater the odds we will involve ourselves in spiritual bypassing Wherein spiritual practice and attainment are used to avoid directly and unguardedly feeling the raw reality of suffering, keeping us safe. Feeling a need to go deeper into spiritual practices if progress isn’t good enough, self-blame, but keeps them distracted from having to face and deal with their core pain. When in the grip of spiritual bypassing we view it as unnecessary and only for the neurotic and at best strengthened the very egoity that spirituality might eradicate. It is very easy to couch our fear of psychotherapy in spiritual language. It may even keep us stuck conceptually on a higher level. Cutting through spiritual bypassing means turning towards the painful, unwanted, scary shadow elements of ourselves. To do this we must cut through our numbness and defenses, approaching it with as much care as we can. If doing so seems to heal our heart, we are on the right path. When heart heals, it opens and expands, not shatters. When we denumb and become more comfortable with our own comfort we see what drove us into spiritual bypassing. This is a challenging journey to say the least.” - Robert Augustus Masters
Russell Brand speaking of consciousness and vibration. Very beautiful.
We business men and women love to disrupt industry, especially in regard to the profit motive. Why not, if a startup can do it better than an incumbent organization, then isn’t it the duty of that startup to reach in and change the marketplace?
#ConsciousDisruption can come with the profit motive, but it can also come with a social ‘agenda?’ In the wake of the water contamination in West Virginia, are there companies out there who’s antisocial behavior requires a quick ‘revaluation?’ Can we utilize the power of the hive and social networks to call out offenders, leading to social change through the business lens?
Many social innovators are looking to carve out a profitable niche while also serving the ‘greater good.’ What would it look like when conscious people decide to group together to act in unison, from a market perspective? What kind of campaigns could you see developed (Got ?Capitalism?) What can we do in a combined way that effects massive change?
Let’s Build the Future.
Mankind is awakening. The lion has one eye open. We are seeing ourselves for what we are, divine creatures living in a world of true abundance. All else is illusion. <3
Data is the Holy Grail
Mankind is rapidly rising in consciousness. Never before have we been so interconnected, so interrelated. We are capable of empathizing with humans across the globe as they tell us their story via out Twitter feed. We are at a point in history where we are expanding our own personal identities; we are moving into the age of Homo Empathicus.
An even bigger story is not just this interconnection, but the fact that data actually maps this process for us. We have at our fingertips, data which shows us connections between variables we would have never consciously thought of previously. As mathematicians and physicists digest this data and easily visualize it for us to comprehend; humanity's collective consciousness becomes nourished, we all gain as an interconnected organism.
At the moment, those who are utilizing data the most are high speed traders on Wall Street, technology startups, and government agencies (especially the NSA and their PRISM program.) This is expected, as most people do not grasp the capability of data analysis, yet. This post is to encourage data analysis as a holy quest for mankind, the true frontier we should be setting out to 'conquer.' Those of us who want to empower ourselves and our children should begin learning what this science is about, or giving our smart children the opportunity to learn these skills. One needs a basic understanding of statistics before being able to digest data mining basics. Below are a few free University level courses to understand this science.
How to Process, Analyze and Visualize Data- MIT OpenCourseWare
Data Analysis with R- John Hopkins University
Social Network Analysis- University of Michigan
In the past, I mistakenly thought data was the New Oil, I was wrong, Data is the Holy Grail. Let's collectively rise in consciousness, Let's Build the Future.
Deb Roy, Your Ted talk, ‘The Birth of a Word" was mind blowing. I like your straightforward depiction of data analysis; it brings your complicated findings to a very accessible level. That said, using the framework you have already begun, I suggest an experiment that i would love to work with you and your team on: let’s either prove or disprove the hypothesis; Mankind is rapidly rising in consciousness.
Consciousness can be defined using the Meme profiles established in Spiral Dynamics. Many of us technology based thinkers want to move toward a more Open Sourced governance model and the innovation economy, which cannot be accomplished until the tipping point of mankind has risen to yellow consciousness on the Spiral grid. This consciousness level can handle complex systems, is comfortable riding the edge of chaos, and will be capable of making massive changes on a global scale. By mapping this data and showing the results in such an easy to digest format (if this thesis is proven,) you will lay the groundwork for creating an operative Open Source Society. You will be one of the founding fathers of ‘the New Way." Anyone who invests in such a project will be known throughout history as the men and women who paved the way for a society that upshifts to working together as a superorganism.
I wish you the best in your research and please do not hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected].
Kind regards, Jon Connors

The Spiral of Anarchism
During Occupy Wall Street I became enamored with the theory of anarchy. I vividly remember being different from the other anarchists, as I was coming from the lens of orange consciousness. I would sit at the anarchy table during the occupation and spend most of my time discussing Friederich Hayek's The Use of Knowledge in Society, and the concept of free market anarchism. Needless to say, the red consciousness anarchists did not agree with my thesis. Below is a grid for authorities, Occupiers and others to examine anarchism overlapped with Spiral Dynamics. This post was inspired by the paper by Dr. Don Beck and Chris Cowan, Spiral Dynamics and Terrorism.
Purple/ Red- Black bloc anarchists. This group uses destruction and fear as a way to eliminate what they see is the issue; blue consciousness structure. Many Black Bloc'ers spend time marching on jails, destroying property of the orange conscious status oriented people in society, and covering their face, because the authorities highly target such a group (due to their inclination to do harm.) *This group is more red than purple, but they have a strong tribal contingent.
Blue- None. No anarchists can be grouped into Order consciousness in my opinion.
Orange- Anarcho Capitalists. This group feels that the market's invisible hand can handle all the needs of the collective, building roads, military, hospitals. This is an extreme version of the well known Libertarians in the United States.
Green- Christian Anarchists and Eco Anarchists. Christian anarchists believe in a world of unity, a world of peace. There is a heavy doctrine of nonviolent civil resistance, as a way to defy (perceived) evil systems that perpetuate war and violence. Dorothy Day and the Catholic Worker movement held this theory, and I was exposed to it during a volunteer program in Los Angeles (hence my tattoo.) Eco anarchists can be both non violent (Thoreau) or have an inclination to destroy property (ELF.) I came up with an eco, civil resistance based community project, Guerilla Gowanus, for my final project in Andrew Faust's Permaculture Design Course. The desire was to provoke blue consciousness (police, FBI and NYC federal officials) into a standoff as we cleaned up one of the dirtiest bodies of water in the United States, the Gowanus Canal. I no longer seek to disrupt, only go back through my consciousness development for frame of reference.
Yellow- Holocracy, Chaordic Organizations. This is a second tier perspective, so it could only be viewed as anarchism from a first tier perspective (especially blue.) Yellow concentrates more on systems development and less on 'fighting the man.' According to the turquoise consciousness Buckminster Fuller, “You never change things by fighting the existing reality.
To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”
Turquoise- It's all about the meta and the micro combining. At this stage, there is no differentiation of anything, so anarchism would not be separate from Order.
Anarchist or not, let's all move to the second tier; Let's Build the Future.

The NSA and Prism- Data Driven Decision Making
It has been recently reported that the National Security Agency monitors and keeps data on many social media conversations in the US. They are currently mapping, using predictive analytics, many different versions of possible future scenarios, and pinpointing those to watch closer. I am actually not at odds with this at all; I feel this data should be Open Sourced.
When one Open Sources much of the data the NSA accesses via Prism, mathematicians and physicists have a chance to mine such data and find correlations that can then be modeled to predict future behavior. This is done to predict consumer behavior in the business world, where the NSA is using it to predict citizen behaviors. I offer my data analysis brethren at these agencies an idea (they may already be working on); map out where groups lie on a level of consciousness using Spiral Dynamics, and overlap that data to web based conversations that exist. Map out who has changed consciousness levels over time you have been collecting data (I for instance, went from orange to green around the time of Occupy), and find those nodes (or influencers) in which these individuals share in common that created such a rise in consciousness. Find out what variables are needed to facilitate a rise in consciousness, and harness these findings so those interested can discover 'how to.' This will prevent any destabilization from occurring in the world if there were a massive consciousness shift, where people were left feeling out of sorts, and governing agencies would be forced to 'manage' such fallout.
My theory is that Mankind is rapidly rising in consciousness, due to our interconnectedness online, and the sheer amount of data at our fingertips. I believe that data analysts are having trouble finding true threads that interconnect human behavior (which are then used to build predictive models), because this rapid rise in consciousness has never occurred before. There is no past data which to map out where this 'will go.'
I would love to open a dialogue between former NSA (or FBI) analysts and myself over such an idea (granted as long as you have clearance to do so). Is there a way to create a minimal viable algorithm that overlaps the theory of Spiral Dynamics to online conversations? Is there a way to discuss how, if the data were open to academics and scientists everywhere, it could be used to learn more about human behavior, about human interactions, about potential crime (something the NSA has an interest in) and about the effectiveness of governance? I feel that data really is the New Oil, and that Prism data is the largest find we could imagine.
Thank you NSA for your Prism program. Open Source your findings for Americans to benefit from. Let's Build the Future.
