throwback to my junior year of highschool pre covid where i never got to finish this piece because it got lost when school was shut down 💔 i think ill recreate it

to be honest my collection of tiger drawings throughout my highschool art years should’ve been a large indicator that i am a tiger lol.. i had just been fully accepting and embracing myself as an animalperson at this point though so the introspection was only beginning. i had to get past all the surface level blocks i had kept on myself for many many years.

#art was something that helped me express a lot of repressed felinity #it was frustrating knowing you are different than these human people around you #but you couldn't quite place why because you had conditioned yourself to withhold your self #covid helped me get more in touch as a tiger #social isolation and the more self expression i got to explore in that time greatly freed me #i look to this picture and i think it was some sort of self portrait #i hadn't realized it then though #therian #tiger therian #image

there should be more podcasts or video formatted nonhuman and alterhuman resources. I have considered going about it myself but I am wholly uninformed on how to do so. I think it would make a fun past time.

i don't know how much of this is the therianthropy and how much of it is just me, but i've never felt fully right with having a name. for a long time i felt like i just didn't like MY name, but i've never found one that feels correct to refer to me as, and recently i realized that having a name at all feels like an almost foreign concept to me. at most i feel completely neutral towards any name or nickname anyone uses for me, at worst it feels wrong to call me anything. part of it feels like, as an animal that doesnt use specific contact calls for each other, it makes sense to feel almost confused to be singled out and called as an individual. im a social species either way, but individuality in the human sense isnt really a thing for most animals. or its just a weird quirk with no source lol, who knows.

I feel similar, that’s why sometimes I prefer to be referred to as a tiger. while I do have an alias it can be strange to have a name. it is a human concept indeed.

this was one of those standout things for me when figuring out my felinity. being a huge hot beast makes for an intense urge to submerge in bodies of water. i grew up in the desert on the coastline, so getting in the ocean or more so in pools or creaks really satiated that itch on a burning summer day. however, this delight felt like a contradiction since a majority of felines despise water. this became one of those aha moments when i better figured myself out.

somewhat niche tiger affirming self care that i practice:

maintaining a tan — usually with self-tanner, i actually aim for a more orange look unlike most who self-tan, i think it is fun too to use deeper shades to paint on stripes. it is more efficient though to use henna for semi-permanent stripes though. drinking lots of orange juice and staying hydrated does help enhance this look. (side note; if you haven’t smelt self tanner it typically has this sort of ‘dirt’ smell which i like, it makes me feel more species euphoric).

dying my hair orange-red. I have loved keeping my hair this color, and it is not hard to maintain because even when it fades for me it maintains a tiger orangey copper shade which I enjoy.

getting white acrylic nail extensions. this is my favorite, I always feel complete having my claws. filing them and maintaining a sharpness is fun for me.

dry brushing as a form of grooming. I think this is one of the closest more sanitary ways to mimic feline grooming. while i do enjoy licking and slicking my fur to groom, this is good for the human skin i have. dry brushing feels much more like a cat’s tongue than my own.
