Sketch sat in her mini-studio, a room of windows and curtains that she created art in. Paintings, doodles, and even a few small sculptures sat on shelves that littered the room and filled it with color.
Now, you may know that artists need their inspiration. Sketch painted many still-lifes, colored many drawings of the garden outside, and even sculpted a little clay cat. This wasnât enough. Her art didnât seem.. good enough.
They had never had self-doubts about their work, and this worried Candice. Her closest friend, suddenly upset about things that used to bring them joy.. now thatâs a tough problem to solve.
She entered the studio and sat in a chair next to Sketch. âThe doctor is in. How may I help you?â
Sketch smiled. âIâm not sure medicine can fix this issue, doc.â
âNot even the medicine of love? Or.. laughter?â
âWell, maybe. But Iâm not too good at painting how emotions feel.â
Candice held her head up with her hand. âHave you tried.. no, that wouldnât work.â She thought and thought. Sketch turned to look at her and watch. âOh! Try painting one of us!â
âThere are 8 other people in this house besides me, how can I possibly choose?â Sketch grinned. âPerhaps I could draw my best friend.â
Candice dramatically fell to the floor. âBut Sketch.. we were destined to be together. I thought we were best friends!â
âWeâve been dating since high school.â
Sketch helped her girlfriend up off the floor. âI suppose I could draw you. Your fashion sense has definitely improved since junior high.â
âHey, that duck outfit rocked!â
âYou showed up to the school dance in a onesie, dear.â
âOh, so now Iâm a deer?â
âYou look like one when I compliment you.â
Candice turned red. âItâs uh.. I like compliments.â
âHe does if theyâre from Tony.â
âToo bad Tonyâs as dense as a rock.â Candice brushed off her dress. âSo, what kind of art are you creating today?â
âIf Iâm drawing you, then I need the perfect genre..â
âI am not drawing you as a rectangle.â
âDraw me as a trapezoid. Or a rhombus!â
âOr.. I could paint you as a tree.â
âBut youâve got green hair!â
âAnd youâve got pink, but you donât see me calling you âCotton Candyâ.â
Candice smiled at her. âFine. But you should still draw me as a trapezoid.â
