I chose to blog about a public service announcement on abusing prescription medications. It shows a kid that gets hurt in a sporting event, is prescribed a medication, and starts abusing over-the-counter drugs. At the end of the public service announcement he is let out in handcuffs from the school. The message at the end reads "prescription drugs: meant to help, not hurt".
I believe the market that advertisers are trying to reach here is athletes, teenagers, and young adults. The context of persuasion is easy. If you don't want to get arrested then don't abuse over-the-counter drugs. This is a very serious ad that needs to be addressed within the above named markets.
Athletes especially have a habit of abusing prescription medications. I know this from when I was an athlete back in high school. I used to need Vicodin or ibuprofen constantly and used to take several of them at a time. So I can relate to this ad and I believe it's a very persuasive public service announcement.
