Hi there, I'm still not beating the writer allegations

I write from a perspective that's very genderfluid, mixed Native, and neurodivergent/physically disabled, so you'll see themes like bodily autonomy and social alienation coming up a lot if that type of thing is your jam

I finally make myself read Hot Allostatic Load, and I think, well

The way I've been treated by the white and cisgendered my whole life isn't unique

(I knew that already)

I don't think this makes me feel better

I'm not the first to be ostracized to the point of no longer feeling human

The logical conclusion of being branded Different Than Them

Quietly disappeared from social circles

It isn't lost on me that the first person who asked was transfeminine

I am not one of them, either

Something just a little to the side,

A different third sex

Fourth-sexed, two-spirited

Similarly incongruous

In the uncanny valley of their androgynous ideal

A little too sharp and hairy

I'd consider lycanthropy before racism

Because these are good people,

And I believe what they tell me

Early on in development, circa 2021, my plan was to have Atlas be a sort of space hero figure, but as I started drafting an outline for how he would single-handedly overthrow the government and demolish capitalism and so on, I got stuck until I realized he just... couldn’t. Realistically, none of this works like that. I don’t want to be a doomer about it, it’s important that there is still joy to be found in this world, but as Atlas shifts into more of a would-be revolutionary, we find a more grounded look at life on Mars and a story that I -- personally -- find more compelling.
