How to Create Your Own Fantasy Map
If any of you are looking to create a fantasy map for your novel, then I highly suggest using the app ibis paint x. It works really well.
Steps for making a map:
1. Scribble an outline of how you want it to look.
2. Erase and redraw to make the edges more rough.
3. Outline around the edges to make it more prominent (optional).
4. Draw compass in any corner using the circular ruler. Use google for reference.
5. Name the continent, country, state, or whatever your map is of in a spaced out large font at top of the page.
A fantasy name generator for every fantasy character. From Chinese to Viking and from dragon to werewolf, I have a fantasy name generator fo
Fantasy generators are very helpful for this. Not only does it name your book characters. It names cities, oceans, continents, rebel groups, islands, weapons, armor, pets, and LITERALLY 1200 more generators.
LITERALLY.
6. Draw the the mountains. Use google for help.
7. Then draw the forests. Keep them close together. Use google for help.
8. Before adding any other land marks, add the names of capitals, cities, villages, etc. using any font type you want.
9. Then add rivers and paths snaking around your map. Do not make the rivers and roads go through the texts.
10. Add text to label your rivers (optional).
11. Add texts outside of the land for your oceans, gulfs, straights, seas, etc.
12. If it’s looking a little bare, then add caves, deserts, dunes, ruins, etc.
Beware! These steps are very short and make it seem easy, but the map I made took a span of 7 hours.
Did you hear that?
SEVEN HOURS! SEVEN…
TIPS & TRICKS BEFORE YOU GO:
keep your font type consistent
fill up the whole space
if you don’t like something, THEN DONT USE IT
be creative
don’t plagiarize (it’s not cool)
have fun!
listen to music
before you start to create your map, get familar with the app (ibis paint x)
You got this! Finish that novel! It helps and it’s really cool!
yes... im reblogging my own post.
a fun thing with writing stories is that while i’m writing them i just go with a dumb title like ‘ghost condo,’ or ‘scuba skeleton thing’, something i can look at and instantly know yeah that’s that story ok.
and then i finish and have to come up with an actual title, and the story i’ve been thinking of as ‘ghost condo’ is suddenly ‘We Who Inhabit These Walls’ or crap like that. and anyone reading it wouldn’t know, but for me those stories are forever marked ‘scuba skeleton thing’
fun fact: scuba skeleton was published under the title The Water Opens Wide and Swallows

Story prompt #24
A kingdom is gripped in the tyranny of a powerful king. Scores of subjects pray for his misfortune and plan his murder. Assassins are hailed as nobles and guards are the lowest of lowlifes.
Is your character an assassin? A guard? Ex guard? The king? A slave? How do they feel about the state of the kingdom? What is their goal in this world? What does this kingdom look like? What does the king look like?
A murder of assassin prompts
So, I have a few requests for this type of character in my inbox, so I thought I’d make an assassin themed prompt post. Happy writing!
Prompts about an assassin that’s supposed to be dead and in servitude to a reaper?
Hello there, do you have any prompts for a civilian finding out their best friend is actually a dangerous assassin? Thank you in advance
Prompts for a blind druid ave a snarky assassin who likes fire a little too much?
1) The reaper snatched hold of the assassin’s wrist and squeezed hard. “I’ve told you, we don’t interfere with death. We do not kill. We are here only to collect the departed.” The assassin scowled. “You might have picked the wrong assistant. Come on - this is boring. He’s ancient anyway, what is dying a few days earlier?” “No.”
2) Their best friend stared back, frozen and utterly horrified. The assassin held their hands up in a placating gesture. “I’m sorry, I didn’t want you involved in this.” “There are bodies in my kitchen,” they whispered. In shock. “Are you going to kill me for seeing that?” They should. They didn’t want to, but they should.
3) “If you are looking to kill me,” the druid said. “You need to try harder. I can smell the ash on you for a mile off. Honestly, I was hoping you’d at least be a little bit of a challenge.”
4) “I don’t know why you’re punishing me for my life choices, surely my job has helped you with yours?” the assassin muttered. “This is not how you treat your best supplier.” “Surely this can’t be of inconvenience to you?” the reaper replied. “If you enjoy helping me so much?” “Oh come on! “If they weren’t meant to die, they wouldn’t have or some shit. You could have just stopped me.”
5) “Oh, relax. No one’s going to hire me to kill you and I’m a professional. No check, no bodies on the deck.” “Everything I know about you is a lie! Don’t act like this is nothing. Like murder is nothing to you!”
6) “Don’t even think about it.” The assassin paused, hands still cupped ready to strike the flint. “I swear you have eyes in the back of your head.” “What do you imagine I wear a cowl? The locals would panic.”
7) “You know,” the assassin said. “You could always hire me to kill whoever took the hit on you instead.” “Doesn’t switching sides hurt your professional credibility?” “Your husband’s not the mob, he’s a twitchy rat who would deny ever even hiring me.” “Why do you even care?”
8) “I’m retired.” “So you don’t think you could do it?” “Fuck you, man. I’m not seven. Reverse psychology don’t do shit.” “So you don’t think you could do it. It’s alright, you just stay in with your bingo.”
9) Well, this was absolutely not supposed to happen. The assassin loved their job, they were invisible, a ghost in the city that left death quicker than anyone could see. They were not supposed to be seen. The other took one look at them, before bolting. The assassin cursed and took off after them.
10) “Now, don’t tell me you’re having a pang of conscience? That’s cute.”
Writing Prompt #504
My line of work required a number of skills: deception, quick feet, a sharp blade and a sharp mind. There was one advantage I had above the other assassins; while they were limited to one presentation and appearance, I regularly shifted between two, making it far more difficult to catch me.

It’s not technically “buying” books if you just….. never return them to the library….. 🤷♀️
boo, that’s stealing
Gentle Reminder for NaNo Participants
NaNo is a pretty big deal this time of year and it can be a lot to deal with.
For a bunch of us, 50k in a month can seem daunting. Impossible, even. I just want to remind you guys that you are allowed to go at your own pace. Writing should be fun and if you aren’t having a good time, you’ll end up hurting yourself.
It’s okay to fall short of the goal if you’re putting your health first. You don’t have to win NaNo for your work to be relevant. Writing anything at all during this time is a huge step, and your work won’t end with NaNo!
Let’s all do our best and have an awesome time this year, okay? If it gets rough, please don’t deal with it on your own! My inbox is open to anyone struggling with NaNo at any point during the event.
Be safe! You’ve got this!
“Tell me what I want to know or I will burn you alive, inch by inch.”
“I knew there was a reason I liked you.”
