watching the new kenshin movies right now with my sister (who hasn’t seen anime or manga) :)

let me start by saying i watched the beginning first as it felt natural in order for the final to have more impact. i advise everyone to do the same. i still think it’s weird they released it in that order but i guess kenshin’s origin markets better as a last installment.

god, mackenyu is a wonderful enishi. i was excited when he was casted. he truly brought a new and different energy to enishi.

the final is a slower pace one; it definitely has a different tone than the rest of the movies. i enjoyed it. it’s the most closely adapted movie out of all of them. if you’re worried about them changing up remembrance/trust & betrayal, don’t be.

and yes, i have the same problems with the final as everyone. not only did it feel like kenshin had 5 lines, kaoru’s relevance was none existence. now, this was my favourite arc in the manga so i have a layer of bias. not saying you can’t enjoy these movies which of course i did; the action and cinematography was spectacular. but alas, it was lacking the thematic substance that it should’ve delivered (not even comparing to the manga). i’m forever bitter 😭😔

the cast and production team did wonderful with what they could. i wish them luck in the future!

Every moment in the OVA was so perfectly adapted to the movie... (In my opinion ofc) I cried so much haha.

Kasumi did an amazing job playing Tomoe. 💔

Also, this scene is absolutely beautiful!! 😍 I really love Tomoe x Kenshin. My otp forever!❤

Kudos to the film producers for adapting such scenes shot by shot, it’s a masterpiece and kudos to AClllart for compiling and comparing these shots. I can only imagine the amount of time and effort in doing these screenshots. 

Can’t wait for Rurouni Kenshin The Beginning, it’s going to be a tear jerker. Although I’ve already watch the anime, watching it live on screen is something different. It’s like watching Mugen Train even after reading the manga.

first they phased out the 22 episode season then they phased out the 13 episode season and now they’re phasing out the 10 episode season like can you guys go watch fucking movies or something and stop trying to “tighten” television

We need to go back to more episodes because shows can’t be action or drama all the time, there needs to be breathing room for both the audience and the characters. There need to be good filler episodes where the characters get to just have fun and develop outside of the main story. Side quests and downtime are important to storytelling. We need to see the characters be regular people with regular problems in between the big stuff.
