I'm just coming back to this post as originally it was only a collection of process photos (great ones!) without any kind of notation.

I just saw 'Silver Linings Playbook' and learned that EXCELSIOR (ever upward) is the motto for the City of New York. I love that. In fact, I love New York so much that if their motto was something like 'Urine' I would still love it. Little fact nuggets like this are absorbed into my brain as I always think it will be useful should I ever randomly find myself at a trivia night. 

Back to the images - this particular framed typography is part of a collection of graphics Timothy Goodman called '99 Picture Frame Illustrations.' It's essentially a homage to NYC and only appropriate that it was commissioned by the Ace Hotel in midtown New York which has local and international artists contributing to the art in its guest rooms. 

I'm sure everyone has at least tried once to start a mural on their bedroom wall. I certainly have - I think my biggest mistake was going in without a plan. I wrote 'Life' (blame the existentialist side of me) put a couple of swirly lines around it and decided it looked horrible - which it did. Luckily it has been painted over.

And as always, this post has taken me an eternity to write due to me spending 20 minutes browsing Timothy's website. What was my point? Oh yea this is awesome and I am definitely visiting the Ace next time I'm in New York

I love TedTalks videos and always lament the fact that I never seem to have time to watch them all. Just like I never have time to listen to podcasts, or watch the DVDs that my friends lend me. So on yet another night where I found myself in a youtube vortex, a search for Tanc Sade (who has not aged that well) somehow got me to the video below. 

Sarah Kay is a poet, and judging from the video is wise beyond her 24 years. She’s eloquent, relatable and uses her talent to inspire and teach others how to find their own voice. I try not to watch or buy into too many inspirational quotes and speeches etc because a part of me thinks over indulging in them will somehow mean that over the long-term that they will lose their effect - and I will be even more of a cynic than I am now. Though, something tells me that this is a video that I’m going to return to time and time again -

I've been on a bit of a furniture research binge lately (purely for work purposes I promise!) and when I came across the 'A Table for Two' design by Matt Inees and Saori Kajiwara I immediately fell in love!

The curves on that ampersand are so freaking retro and sexy. Is it possible to make love to a table?
