I really like these designs, guys HEHAHEE. They're still very obviously Twilight and Tirek because of their silhouettes, but since most ponies look the same if not for their cutie marks, mane and coat colors and limbs (wings, horns), they can easily pass as a normal centaur and unicorn hehahee.
I love them and I WILL overanalyze them with you:
• Both of these are disguises, yes, but they're also EXCUSES for ME as their creator to pull off a redesign mid-story. Needing to hide from Opaline through somewhat permanent methods (they can alter these back as easily as they altered it this way) is the perfect excuse for me to give them designs specific to this AU and to this generation. These are indeed my G5 Twilight and G5 Tirek, within the Princess of Monsters AU. HEHAHEE.
• Twilight's new name is MIDNIGHT.
• Twilight's new color palette seems darker than her original palette* reflecting her moral change
* ^^^ not entirely true! Her original palette within my AU and my designs was already pretty dim; her coat color was very desaturated, her mane was longer and covered her more in dark tones, and she was overall cool-toned. "Lady Midnight", in turn, is WARM-toned and slightly more saturated, and considering she made up this persona after meeting Sunny Starscout, one can deduce that Sunny was at least a minor influence on her new look.
Something I aimed to achieve with Twilight's desaturated purple coat was give the impression of a jaded and grieving mare. After meeting Sunny (so-called Alicorn of HOPE), she got a new look. I like this.
• Twilight is magenta now, and like, not to toot my own horn, but she absolutely pulls this off better than Canon Opaline, lol.
• Tirek was a PAIN to redesign, mostly because I kept trying to maintain his original gray coat color which just didn't work with his new dark red skin (it kept blending in and anytime I tried to adjust it, his skin came out looking like those white-washed black anime characters and it was giving me the ick 😭) so I ultimately just changed his coat color and it was an immediate YES. As soon as I figured that out, I kept repeating "Você fica bem de branco..." in the same tone Roxanne (Megamind 2010) says in the final scene of Megamind Brazilian dub. That being said, Tirek looks good in white!
• Also, white Tirek amuses me so much. Can you say "redeemed" even louder?
• Despite everything, the pony I was constantly comparing him to was Celestia (white coat colors). The irony of his new form looking even slightly like Celestia was incredibly amusing to me hahahhee.
• I love how I was finally able to draw a proper height chart. It's true that within my AUs, Tirek can regulate his size (even if he gets a lot of magic. The show made it seem like he grew involuntarily the second he got any magic, but mine can choose to be big or small if he has enough of it) but this is the shortest/smallest he can get, which is just perfect for him and his wife hehahee.

I think we had different understanding of what "Headmate Twilight" means. I read it and immediately thought of Aussie Twilight. Considering how she handles dozens of dangerous and unstable creat-- individuals on a daily basis, the idea isn't too far fetched...

rambling about (canon and canon-ish) Cozy Glow, the monarchical justice system and negligence/cruelty
Earlier today I saw a post bringing forth the case of a 17-yo boy whose parents refused to pay his bail to "teach him a lesson", and was then killed in a police van by an older inmate; the poster asked if his death was the parents' fault or the system's. And this made me think about Cozy Glow.
Please tell me I'm not insane for thinking Cozy Glow going to Tartarus was either ridiculous or incredibly malicious.
Princess Celestia and Princess Luna are supposed to be these ancient, wise rulers, who believe that Lord Tirek is pure evil and that's why he's kept in Tartarus, the prison reserved only for the super mega top tier S++++++ evil criminals and monsters. So why the buck would they send Cozy Glow, a magicless filly trapped in a cage smaller than a closet, to be caged RIGHT BESIDE the grown ass man that's 5 times her size, supposedly PURE EVIL and who hasn't had sex or a punching bag in THOUSANDS OF YEARS ???

The fact Cozy Glow remains unmolested, alive, relatively happy and comfortable in his presence (given how she teases, laughs with him, hides behind him, gets all over his space) is a testament to Tirek's morals bro like BDBSBDBNSS

Good question. So far my only explanation to the loss of the Crystal Empire in G5 is "they're hidden in the frozen north, cut off from the rest of the world by a magical, impenetrable blizzard". Methinks the reason why Opaline wants to harness dragonfire is to cut through that blizzard and reach the city of fully magical ponies residing within...
I absolutely ADORE my Twilight guys oh my god. What a revolutiomare. I just KNOW that her goals swirled around the justice system of Equestria, the idea of redemption bouncing around for years on end. Dare I say she's what Charlie Morningstar is trying to be... ah, that's rather arrogant of me, lol.
I had this idea in my head a whole ago, one I knew I'd heard somewhere and thought it was genious; a program that allows inmates to shave four days off their sentence for every (approved) book that they read and write a comprehensive, extensive essay on their understanding of it. Isn't that the most Twilight-coded thing you've ever fucking read? Turns out it didn't come from Norway (best prison system in the world as far as I've read) or even Sweden as I initially suspected (can you blame me? That place has the highest HDI in the world, of course I'd think a program called "Redemption Through Reading" would come from there), but from MY country, Brazil. I suddenly feel patriotic pride. Only a little.
I know my Twilight wouldn't be able to take in every criminal in Equestria to the School of Friendship, but I bet she would amp up programs to help them anyway. This one is exactly something she would do, HAHHEHEE. I want to read more on on-site counselors, therapists and psychologists. I wanna know if there's at least one prison out there that has teachers on-site (because isn't it a given stereotype of sort that many people are arrested bc they didn't have the higher education to get a job? Why not get educated in prison then, y'know? Make use of that time?)
