I know y'all are over looking at this same cactus, but I wanted to show you how the pads grow bigger from one spot at the top, the same way the barrel does. Then, once it's as big as it wants, it starts putting on thickness. Neat!

7 new pads! Prickly pears are way more interesting to watch than my little barrel and fish hook there. They're also growing new spikes, getting plumper. Hard to tell, though.
