Today, the UK government accepted guidance which excludes trans people from single sex spaces.
This is a change to the interpretation and implementation of the equalities act which legally prevents any trans person from using the correct changing rooms, toilets, or even attending gym classes.
It’s more than a bathroom ban. It’s something that will prevent us living our lives.
And, as it stands, the guidance is markedly worse for trans men than it is for trans women.
Taken from page 268 of the pdf linked above:
This guidance sets out, in a legally binding code, that trans men can be barred from both men’s and women’s facilities.
While it does go on to say that preventing us from accessing any services might be grounds for a discrimination claim, that’s in direct contradiction to the paragraphs shown above, and right now is purely hypothetical until tested in a court of law.
As the news of the government’s decision to enforce this guidance spreads, a lot is going to be said about the impact on trans women. That’s good, a lot needs to be said.
I doubt, though, that as much will be said about the impact on trans men. I doubt it because when this guidance was first released as a draft I saw dozens of not hundreds of comments talking about how the only impact was to trans women, joking that trans men should use the women’s toilets to make transphobes uncomfortable.
Please don’t fall into that pattern this time, not now this is really happening.
Protect trans women, please, but I am begging you, protect trans men, too.
This guidance systematically erases us from public life. It is deliberate. We are not collateral damage, we are the target.
Think of us in your anger.
so do people know that multiple trans people across the US have reported that their pharmacists have arbitrarily denied them testosterone prescriptions, either because "you need authorization" or "company policy" or, in states where its legal, because they don't feel comfortable giving it to them.
i wouldn't be surprised if its also common for this to happen with estrogen, i found one news story on a trans woman experiencing this, but looking it up there seems to be a LOT of cases of this happening with testosterone. which makes me suspect people feel empowered to do this with T in particular because of its criminalized status. regardless, i do not see this brought up much! and i think we should discuss it more, at the very least to prepare people in case they experience this, so they know how to handle the situation.
examples below the cut for length:
CVS for years refused to sell me the needles I need for my T injections (prescription was not required, but they lied and said one was), would say they were out of stock (not when I see the box right there), loudly asked why I need my T when other patient convos were done quietly or not at all, deliberately gave me insulin needles (I need much larger) or sometimes only 1 needle for a multi-dose prescription. (Even for 1 dose, you should have at least 2 needles -- one to draw with and one to inject.) They also "dropped" my vial a few times.
Any one of these could be ignorance/accidents, but these each happened multiple times from 3 locations.
If your clinic does its own dispensing, I highly recommend switching to that for your prescription. If you are worried about needles, get your provider to include the needle info on the scrip. And if you *really* have issues with the needles, buy them in bulk online.
Per GLAAD, the FCC is accepting public comments until May 22nd on their decision whether or not to mark LGBT stories with a content label.
In a Public Notice released on April 22, 2026, the FCC is asking Americans to submit comments about whether the TV Oversight Management Board (TVOMB) should create new TV ratings to alert viewers to “transgender and gender non-binary programming” and “the discussion or promotion of gender identity themes.”
Here is the comment form (also listed on the GLAAD link that tumblr refuses to link correctly)
This is a solution in search of a problem," the lone Democratic member of the FCC said.
The deadline is tomorrow, May 22nd
hey everyone. if you haven't seen it, ansel @transfaguette posted a queued post on his blog, stating that he is likely deceased now after taking his own life. there is a chance he is alive and simply hasn't been able to access his blog, but he stated he was confident in his means, and that his attempt would've been about a week ago. if he is alive, i hope he sees this and knows how much he means to me and many others.
i am deeply saddened by the loss of him to our community. i wish i had been able to know him better personally. i admired him a great deal. i am thankful he was here. i am glad we were both around on this earth for enough time to know each other. he made the world a richer and better place by having been here at all. i can't thank him enough.
suicide is an immensely personal and final choice. he was unhoused, disabled, and without options for a life that felt meaningfully survivable. it was his right to choose to end his life, he expressed this himself. as painful a choice as that choice is, i am glad he felt able to make it with an appreciation for life and a genuine belief in our ability to fight for a world where disabled trans people never have to make this decision out of desperation again. i am glad he went with a sense of peace and love for himself and the world.
His final words on his last post are: "Keep fighting comrades, and never lose your compassion for yourself and others."
if anyone needs it, Trans Lifeline is a suicide support hotline for trans people which will not call 911 on you without consent, and Project LETS has a collection of non-carceral resources. take care of your grief however it needs, take care of yourselves, and each other. he is gone but not forgotten.
Since you said you wanted to learn more in your tags, here is the study regarding prostate growth in transmasculine people taking Testosterone: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35034167/
What happens is a process called Metaplasia, the process where one mature specialized cell type is replaced by another mature cell type that is not normally found in that tissue. Because the vagina and prostate share the same embryonic origins, androgen (testosterone) exposure stimulates parts of the vaginal lining to transform into prostate tissue.
THANKS that is super cool. and if you want to know a cool fact in return, this says this is from like 10 minutes ago which is. exactly 2 minutes after i just did my first t shot. btw. :)
Hey there! Say, do you still have a link to the first time you talked about transandrophobia here on Tumblr? I know you have a more recent write-up, and that you initially started talking about it on Twitter in 2017, but I'm just looking for the post that's time stamped the earliest here on Tumblr. I'm not having much luck finding it. Thank you!
I miss when tumblr would let you sort a blog chronologically. They never should have removed that feature.
Well, my original blog (Saint-Dionysus) was terminated by staff. Then my remake (Dead-Dyke) was terminated by staff. So, this is my third blog and you won't find my original post on it. It's out there floating in the ether of someone's reblogs, since tumblr doesn't archive old blogs or group together their posts or anything else that would be reasonable.
Remember when the search function worked? Good old days.
I went through the wayback machine, and this capture from July of 2021 where I've tagged a post as transandrophobia is the earliest archived mention of it on my previous blog (Dead-Dyke).
But of course by that point I had already been canceled for the word. Honestly, if you could find one of my OG callout post, that might be easier??? It would presumably have some sort of "receipts" that might have an earlier mention.
To be honest, some of my older posts really lack in communicating what transandrophobia was, since I had really initially just meant to use it personally among mutuals and irl friends since I wanted to write my book first. But as time went on, I had to start defining it online as my blogs got more foot traffic (ironically thanks to the callout posts) and people had questions.
Anyway, good luck on your journey and if you find the post, feel free to send it my way as well.
this pride month we’re all going to be radically pro transgender. or else.
The reason why so many of y'all's feminism sucks is because you still believe deep down in your hearts that there are only two kinds of people in the world: precious, ethereal, fragile dollthings called "women", and violent, lustful, rage-fueled apes called "men". Until you throw that idea away, 3rd-grade-tier "girls rule boys drool, girls are princesses and boys are stinky :(" is as feminist as we'll ever get-- and I hope it's obvious that that's lightyears away from the bare minimum of where we need to be.
I don't know how I'm supposed to explain to ostensibly trans-friendly feminists that "women are beautiful soft things made of glass, men are obsessed with violence and sex" is exactly what the patriarchy wants you to believe. Patriarchy wants you to believe that being a woman and/or having a vagina (patriarchy generally believes those two things are synonymous) makes one shatter on impact with reality. It makes you easier to control if you are scared shitless of the other half of the population, and it makes you more compliant with your lot in life if you believe it is in the nature of the other half of the population to rape and kill rather than realise those were choices those individual rapists and murderers made. There is no way to make gender essentialism progressive and feminist, because it is one of patriarchy's tools of subjugation. Stop trying to make it progressive.
And I can scream all of that from the rooftops over and over again, and what I hear in reply is "Trans men really are men because no woman would ever decide to become an inherently evil repugnant rapist ape", and "You're so right. Trans women are women because they too are pretty delicate little objects I can fuck", and "You're non-binary? So are you fucktoy non-binary or sexpest non-binary?", and my patience runs ever thinner.
Saw someone on Instagram saying that if you're on T you should take men's multiviatims and if you're on E you should take women's multivitamins. And I can see how someone could come to that assumption, if you thought that vitiam intake needs were affected by hormone levels.
However that's not really the case, at least not when it comes to the sort of vitiams in a multiviatim.
The main difference is that "women's" multiviatims have iron in them to help make up for presumed monthly bloodloss. And "men's" multiviatims will sometimes have antioxidants that /could/ help with prostate health.
If you don't experience a menstrual cycle that features uterine shedding and consist monthly bleeding, then you shouldn't take multiviatims that are marketed as "women's", becouse if you use them longterm you'll end up suffering from secondary iron overload which can cause liver, heart, and pancreas damage.
To my knowledge, the antioxidants in "men's" multivaitims are not harmful to people who don't have a prostate. It's also might be good to remember that trans men on Testosterone for at least a year do develop prostate tissue (it's just not in the same spot). That being said, the antioxidants in men's vitiams aren't medically proven or assessed by the FDA as being beneficial to the prostate tissue - and what studies that do exist certainly don't include transmasculine people in testing, so really it's more 🤷 🤷 🤷
Anyway, basically:
If you're postmenopausal, if you're on T and it has stopped your menstrual cycle, or if you have a condition that makes it so you don't bleed every month, or if you're a trans woman or otherwise transfem then you probably don't want to be taking multiviatims that are marketed towards women, to avoid secondary iron overload.
And if you're on T but you still have a consistent menstrual cycle, you /might/ want to take multiviatims that are marketed towards women to make up for the iron loss during uterine shedding. Though this probably is only necessary if you are a heavy bleeder or someone who bleeds more days then the average.
Now - if you're transfem and having to take multivaitims marketed as "men's" makes you dysphoric, or if you're transmasc and having to take multiviatims marketed as "women's" makes you dyphoria, of it your transneutral and hate any gendered marketing in general. There is good news.
Adult multiviatims, which are marketed as just "for adults" provide a good baseline amount of vitiams that every person needs regardless of gender, with no iron and none of the antioxidants that are sometimes added to men's vitiams.
You can just take those, they're usually cheaper then the gendered ones. And if you think you need more iron, just buy a bottle of iron supplements (talk to yourd doctor or OB/GYN first) or eat more high iron veggies during your period. And if you're concerned about your prostate health then you should talk to a doctor instead of taking an antioxidant about it!
Because testosterone is already a controlled substance and thus the posession of it as DIY HRT is already illegal. Trans men and transmascs have been talking about this for literal years. This is such a bizarre kneejerk, because instead of simply talking about how horrible the attempt to criminalize DIY estrogen is OP here immedeatly decides to make this about trans men and transmascs being less opressed.
big fan of the way that transandrophobes will try and misconstrue me talking about “butch-transmasc-trans man solidarity“ as „TERFy AFAB Solidarity“ when I’m a whole ass transfem Butch.
Way to fight gender essentialism by simply assuming that every butch is AFAB, you’re killing it at the shitheel game.
EDIT: Read some positivity.

i think there is a phenomenon where sometimes a trans person will go “hmm. i am treated as a man when it is convenient for others, and a woman when it is convenient for others, and often as a freakish third thing excluded from the advantages of both. surely, because of the gender binary, the Other Type of trans person experiences the opposite: they reap the benefits of maleness and femaleness at once.” like babes no they can do it twice
