Snowdrop98: Well, clearly we do or we wouldn't be talking to each other right now.
Snowdrop98: Really? Well, if you're interested, you could read about the Pontianak. I found out about it when I was little and it haunted me for months. It still disturbs me actually, although I'm not the best with horror themes to start with.
Cypressharbor: You've got me there, Cher.
Cypressharbor: Yeah? I'm not so easily spooked so I'll probably check it out after baseball practice. Sounds like the name of a river but I guess Pontianak doesn't equal Potomac.

Snowdrop98: You've caught me. I guess I have no choice but to come clean now... I'm actually a middle-aged man trying to become hip with the kids by posting in college forums. (I'm not, by the way.)
Snowdrop98: Of course, but they're not /fake/ stories. Ancient civilizations worshiped mythological figures, and mythologies play, and have played, a huge part throughout history. The tales might be entirely fictional, but they weren't fake. Unless it's Indonesian mythology. I've had nightmares from some of them, and I'd rather believe those tales are entirely fake.
Cypressharbor: I knew it from the moment you were posting on message boards. Who even uses message boards anymore??
Cypressharbor: Okay, fiction stories then. God stories play a huge part in America but that doesn't make them real either. Now you've got me interested in Indonesian mythology.

Snowdrop98: I can't wait! Although I'm hoping that emoji usage is implying that it should be good? I'm afraid I'm not sure what that means...
Snowdrop98: Maybe I'll decide to brave it one day to put this case to rest. They're not fake stories, though. They are technically stories since mythos is Greek for story, but a lot of them have elements that are based on real events.
Snowdrop98: You know, I think the whole of Washington can sense that sarcasm. Myself included.
Cypressharbor: You sure you're a teenager? That means it's gonna be lit, Cher.
Cypressharbor: Having real elements doesn't mean the stories aren't stories. Even sci-fi and fantasy stories are written to have an element of realism in them. It's how authors can guarantee that their audience connects to the story.

Snowdrop98: If you're completely sure. I'll be waiting with bated breath for the results of your experiment.
Snowdrop98: Then I should definitely remove it from my list, as I'd likely become one of those people. It's apparently very easy to get mythological people and beings wrong, even one of my favorite shows managed it. People take too many creative liberties and end up deviating from the source so much that they're unrecognizable.
Snowdrop98: As I'm sure you can tell, I have a lot of feelings about this.
Cypressharbor: I'll hit you up with a link once I work my DJ magic then. It's going to be 🔥🔥.
Cypressharbor: I looked at the dude's website and around the web and apparently dude's done his research and it portrays the fake stories accurately, just not the most common portrayals perhaps.
Cypressharbor: I didn't notice.
Chat || Snowharbor
Snowdrop98: Oh, okay. You don't have to. It was only a suggestion, because I'm curious what it would sound like.
Snowdrop98: I suppose that's good enough, but if he got some details wrong, I guess I'll have to remove it from my 'possibly try reading' list on Goodreads. That always drives me crazy.
Cypressharbor: Nah, I'll give it a try. I like exercising my creative juices.
Cypressharbor: I don't know what he got wrong but I know some people have nitpicked over it. Dude's writing for kids though and I don't see how you can get details about fake people wrong.
Chat || Snowharbor
Snowdrop98: Isn't that the type of thing DJ's do, or am I horribly mistaken? If it is, you should test it and let me know, and then I'd know whether to go ahead with the idea or not.
Snowdrop98: Mythology buff here, at your service. I haven't read that series of books, so I hope they at least got the facts right for you.
Cypressharbor: Yeah, if you have albums that match quality. I don't have any Taylor Swift vinyl because that would be a waste of vinyl but I can download it digitally.
Cypressharbor: I think Rick Riordan may have fudged some details but I got the basic gist of it all.

Snowdrop98: I'm not so sure that anything using the word 'mullet' could ever be considered as anywhere near trendy, or recommended. Even mash-ups of say, Taylor Swift and The Beach Boys?
Snowdrop98: ... You only know the story of Jason from a Percy Jackson book?
Cypressharbor: Nobody should mash Taylor Swift up with anything. I bet it could work though.
Cypressharbor: I'm not a history buff. Mythology buff? Either way, that's not me.
Chat || Snowharbor
Snowdrop98: So it's like a music mullet? You're forgetting that in one ear I'd be listening to my music, and in the other I'd be listening to oldies. That doesn't sound like a good combination to me.
Snowdrop98: It must be that golden fleece of yours. It must keep throwing me off.
Cypressharbor: Yeah but trendier. A music mullet is the only mullet you should have. Are you kidding? Mash-ups are golden.
Cypressharbor: I read about this in a Percy Jackson book, I'm sure of it.
Chat || Snowharbor
Snowdrop98: Well, considering that I have to deal with customers, I don't think that would go down too well. I haven't mastered the art of lip reading yet, unfortunately.
Snowdrop98: Touche. I'm not actually sure how to counter that, so it seems it's score two for Jason, whilst I trail behind with zero.
Cypressharbor: Only wear one. Party in the left ear, business in the right. I'm just solving all your problems here.
Cypressharbor: I understand that I'm a tough dude to keep up with.
Chat || Snowharbor
Snowdrop98: In that case, you've definitely succeeded. Oh, I'm not talking bad about it! I love where I work. I was only saying that constantly listening to the same songs repeatedly gets old pretty quickly.
Snowdrop98: You don't? It's a creature straight out of European coat of arms. Nothing says majestic more than that.
Cypressharbor: Score one for Jason. Maybe you should get sneak some earbuds while you're working. They make wireless one, don't you know.
Cypressharbor: There are coats of arms with crabs on them so I don't see your point.
Chat || Snowharbor
Snowdrop98: I can feel it emanating off of you from here already. However, I'm sure if you listened to it as often as I do, you would change your mind. It actually is, to be honest.
Snowdrop98: It looks very majestic, but I don't think I'd like to see one in the flesh. Go Enfields?
Cypressharbor: Good, emanating is what I was aiming for. Okay, but, I'd never betray Billy & the Gang like that. So why are you talking crap on it?
Cypressharbor: You think that thing looks majestic? Looks like it's about to topple over to me. Which, same.
Chat || Snowharbor
Snowdrop98: I'm sorry, but I'm afraid you're going to have to be offended because it's very much true. Oh, the place where I work exclusively plays the oldies. Over and over again.
Snowdrop98: I don't think I'd go so far as to call it cute, but in comparison to the horror you made me look up, it's adorable. There's the Enfield, from European Heraldry which is a combination of a fox, eagle and lion.
Cypressharbor: I hope you feel my personal offense wherever you are in Washington. I know it's not a long way to go but it's still strong. Your work sounds like a paradise.
Cypressharbor: I just Googled that and the design seems a little impractical but it's still my new mascot.
Chat || Snowharbor
Snowdrop98: What if I added that it wasn't out of musical taste, but more because I have to listen to Billy Joel every day so it gets a little old after the fifth Uptown Girl?
Snowdrop98: That's hardly fair. It's a rabbit with wings and antlers from Bavarian folklore. Now you can Google it, Jason.
Cypressharbor: I'd be offended that you think Billy Joel could get /old/. What kind of haven are you in where you get to listen to Uptown Girl that much?
Cypressharbor: You live and learn, get luvs. That's cute as hell, you have way better taste in weird creatures than I do. You got anything with fox parts?
Chat || Snowharbor
Snowdrop98: What would you say if I said that I'd rather listen to Taylor Swift than Billy Joel?
Snowdrop98: That doesn't seem very fair, although I promise it's nowhere near as terrifying as what you made me search.
Cypressharbor: I'd judge you a little bit and question your taste in white feminists.
Cypressharbor: Like I said, I learn from your mistakes, Cher. What's a wolpertinger?
Chat || Snowharbor
Snowdrop98: I'm taking it that's bad then, but um, what's wrong with Taylor Swift?
Snowdrop98: Like a wolpertinger? I think that would be rather unnerving to look at in real life...
Cypressharbor: She's not Billy Joel for one thing. And she's kind of a jerk.
Cypressharbor: I have no clue what you're talking about but I learned from your Googling mistakes and I'm going to let you explain before I go looking things up.
Chat || Snowharbor
Snowdrop98: I don't think you're doing that either. And I take it that's bad...? I'm afraid my music knowledge doesn't extend very far, but at least it wasn't that Friday song?
Snowdrop98: No, she's definitely a rabbit and she sadly doesn't have any connections to Princess Aurora.
Cypressharbor: They played Taylor Swift where my Billy Joel vinyls could hear them. I don't know how to explain this to Mr. Long Island.
Cypressharbor: She'd probably be cooler if she had wings. Not that she's not cool already.
