He smiled at Toby as he took the phone, happy that he already found something in common with the new little boy in their home. Abel was so used to ordering pizza he knew the number off by heart, quickly dialing and making the order to be delivered to their door.
“You can cook if you want, I’m only trying to get better at it since I usually cook anyway.”
Abel could hear Richie already telling Seth about how often he burns things, making the man grumble quietly even though it was completely true. There would be lots of things Seth would learn about their home, and the most important would be that it is a safe place for any feelings and thoughts, and nothing left this home that wasn’t meant to. Not that he expected the little boy to go around telling people of his new family, anyway, even if he knew what was happening. That was possibly a talk he’d need to have with him after dinner.
He lingered at the door, just watching the two boys talk about pizza and more of their favourite foods while Abel ordered their dinner. Turning his gaze to Abel when he spoke, he smiled again.
“We could always cook together? It might help.”
His fingers covered his lips as he laughed behind them. Richie was honest, possibly too honest when it came to revealing the flaws of the other two members of the house. Richie’s only flaws was that he stared too long, like his father, and he couldn’t colour within the lines. Richie didn’t have anyone to share this strange life with anyone, not that it was strange to him but it would be to Seth. Tobias wouldn’t be the one to talk to the boy, especially about his relationship with Abel, but someone would have to.
