“I’ll be okay, really,” he looked away. “You should get back to class, I don’t want you to get in trouble because of me.” He frowned lightly. 

Please don’t be so kind to me. 

               “  that  is  silly!  i  won’t  get  in  trouble.   ”  and  even  if  she  did,  that  didn’t  MATTER  to  her  right  now.  all  that  mattered  was  making  sure  that  fay  was  okay,  and  felt  safe.  the  moment  tohru  left,  it  could  happen  all  over  again.  that  was  something  she  wanted  to    a v o i d   more  then  anything.  “  i’m  glad  you’re  okay,  but  i  still  want  to  make  sure  you  get  where  you  need  to  go  or  want  to  go.   ”

               fay  could  beg  her  on  hands  AND  knees  to  not  be  kind  to  him,  and  it  still  wouldn’t  happen.  because  tohru  cared  about  him,  and  she  wanted  him  to  be  safe  no  matter  what.   “  so  do  you  want  to  go  home?  or  the  nurses  office?  tell  me  what    y o u   want!  ”

Akane pondered an answer to her question about looking like someone she knows.  “Well, you remind me of someone that I’ve heard stories about, but I’ve never met them before.”  

The brunette smiled, “A space cadet?  That seems like something he’d come up with.”  The Sohma laughed as she pictured Kyo calling Tohru a space cadet.  

“Hopefully it’s a sign that it’s going to be a good summer.  I’d love to be able to go swimming a lot this summer.”  The brunette looked up at the sky, “I’ve never thought about relaxing at the park.  I find sitting under trees relaxing.”  On occasion, Akane would sit under trees and either doodle or write.  “I might have to try the park sometime though.”

               “   oh!   ”   tohru  said,   NOT  expecting  that  to  be  her  answer.  “  someone  you’ve  heard  stories  about?  that’s  pretty  neat!   ”  a  smile  was  given  once  more.  “  is  it  someone  that  you  wish  to meet  one  day?   ”

               she  looked  to  the  other,   t i l t i n g    her  head  to  the  side.  “  something  he  would  come  up  with?   ”  that  seemed  like  a  strange  thing  to  say.  “  you  know  who  came  up  with  it?   ”  the  girl  wasn’t   ACCUSING  the  other  other  anything,  she  was  just  very  curious  about  what  they  were  talking  about.  did  the  other  know  kyo  somehow?  or  was  it possible  that  they  were  thinking  of   a n o t h e r   person  again.

             “  disgusting!   it’s  not  disgusting!   ”   the  girl  said  with  VIGOR.  the  sight  in  front  of  her  didn’t  gross  her  out,  nor  did  it  make  her  uncomfortable.  in  the  girl’s  mind,  it  was  so    b e a u t i f u l.   because  the  world  could  be  amazing,  the  way  it  brought  new  life  into  it like  this.  “  it’s  so  beautiful  and  amazing.   ”  she  said,  ears  filled  with  the  soft  SQUEAKS  of  new  life.  she  wrapped  a  towel  around  one  of  the  new  born  kittens,  it’s  eyes  still  firmly  closed.  (  and  they  would  be  for  some  time.  they  still  had  time before  they  saw  the  world.  )   “  hello  little  one.   ”  she  said  softly,  carefully  cleaning  the  new  black  and  white  kitten.  “  welcome.   ”

           their  he  went  again,  being  her  PERFECT  LITTLE  MAN.  reminding  her  so  much  of  his  father,  day  after  day.  sometimes  it  hurt,  but  most  the  time  it  just  made  her  happy.  (  it  made  her  feel  so  grateful.  )  life  had  taken  a  lot  from  tohru,  but  she  knew  it  gave  her  hajime  to  make  up  for  it.  life  had  been  tough,  but  it had  all  been  leading  up  to  giving  her  ULTIMATE  happiness.  and  that  happiness  came  in  a  small  orange  haired  package.  if  she  had  to  chose  between  never  suffering  again  and  him,  she  would  chose  to  suffer  over  and  over  again so  that  he  could  be  in  her  life.

           “  isn’t  that  suppose  to  be  my  line?  ”  a   s o f t   laugh  was  given,  brush  some  orange  locks  from  his  eyes.  that  last  time  she  checked  she  was  the  mother,  but  sometimes  he  acted  like  it  was  his  job  to  take  care  of  HER.  “  how  about  we  make  a  deal?  i’ll  always  protect  you  if  you  always  protect  me?   ”  a  mother  and  son  against  the  world.  she  knew  that    t o g e t h e r   everything  would  be  okay.   “  deal?   ”

            so  much  PAIN  was  coming  from  the  other,  enough  to  make  her  own  heart  hurt  in  return.  everyone  had  a  story,  no  person  was    u n t o u c h e d   by  sadness.  tohru  knew  that  perfectly  well,  and  she  always  wanted  to  do  her  best  to  help,  but  sometime  she  didn’t  know  how.  she  was  only  one  girl,  and  the  world  was  filled  with  so  much  PAIN.  it  was  hard  for  her  to  see,  to  watch  happen,  but  even  more  so  when  it  was  someone  that  she  cared  about.  jack  was  always  full  of  joy,  so  seeing  him  unhappy…  it  was  hard  to  see.  she  wanted  to  take  all  his  suffering  away,  even  if  that  meant  she  held  it  in  her  heart  for  him.  she  would  hurt  if  it  meant  he  could  be  happy.

            but  she  couldn’t  do  that.  she  had  learned  that  the  world  was  full  of  MAGIC  of  many  kinds,  but  she  held  none  of  it  in  her  hands.  she  was  only  a  simple  girl,  one  who  couldn’t  make  big   c h a n g e s.   she  couldn’t  make  it  snow,  she  couldn’t  fly,  she  couldn’t  do  anything.  she  could  only  be  here  for  him,  remind  him  that  she  will  be  by  his  side.  so  she  reached  out,  her  hand  taking  his  chilly  one  into  her  warm  one.  “  i  know.   ”  no  one  wanted  or  PLANNED  for  pain.  she  knew  she  never  wanted  to  go  through  the  pains  of her  life,  but  sometimes  their  was  no  choice.  pain  always  demanded  to  be  felt.  “  but  i’m  here  for  you,  no  matter  what.   ”
