So I wanna address something that I've noticed recently in fandom spheres in general (this is specifically going to the tkdb fandom bc I'm still hyperfixated on it right now)
I understand a lot of you guys may be younger and haven't interacted in fandom the way some of us older folks have. And that's fine, but I wanna explain how you can do that!
Because right now a lot of the artists and writers are feeling a little underappreciated and that means we don't really wanna work on requests or events bc they aren't getting a lot of interaction.
First, this isn't an influencer/audience relationship. We're all real people with jobs and lives outside of this, we do it for the love of the game. If you think it's weird or parasocial to try to talk to the person making the art you enjoy that's an issue. Nobody is famous, we're all being goofy ass people playing toys together. Make a comment, reach out to that author if they made your day better!
This is going to sound ridiculous but use youtuber logic: like, comment, subscribe follow! Because chances are with how small our fandom is that your comment is going to be seen and possibly inspire someone to keep going!
Likes are nice, but reblogs are better. If you aren't sure if you want it on your main blog that's fine. You think this is my main? Most of us are on side blogs. Make a little side blog for stuff you enjoy. Tag it so you can find it again. Use the character names or pairings or whatever you want. That's a way to bookmark the work you reblogged so you can find it easily.
Not sure what to really say to someone? If you've never interacted before just be polite but casual. It's a lot like making new friends irl but we have a level of anonymity that is comfortable here. Just don't demand things or try to befriend someone just because you want them to write or draw for you. You won't always hit it off with everyone but just be genuine and kind. You might make friends or just become acquainted, like someone you say hey to when they pass by but aren't close to.
As far as the etiquette of tagging and commenting goes-
Commenting is the reply feature. It goes in a separate thing attached to the work you're commenting on, and it has a larger character limit than the tags. Anyone can reply to you there so it's always good to @ who you're addressing.
Tags you add to the post when you reblog it. They aren't an actual edition to the post. But this is where you can add your keywords for searching for it later. When reblogging there's a feature to include some of the previous person's tags. If you do < or <- at the start of your tag that's indicating that you're referring to what that tag is talking about.
Both of these places are great places to talk about what you like about the work! They are public though so keep that in mind. If you want to talk just to the artist then use messages. Seriously don't be afraid to just start a message to someone it's just like going up and starting a conversation with a person.
But Pom, what do I say? I'm so glad you asked. For me, and a lot of the artists I've seen discuss this, it's not the quality of the message that's important. You can literally just say that character is so cute! Or, this is my favorite line! ❤ And that makes me happy! You can literally just use emojis and keysmashes -> (ajshhdjskakfhakskhf) and I'll get that you enjoyed it lol.
If you're unsure you can look at what other people have added! Some of us go off in our reblogs about how much we love it or how that lighting is incredible or the prose is insanely beautiful! You don't have to match that. Just acknowledging that you enjoyed it is good. Say something about how you hope the next piece is gonna be just as good! Or thank the author for the food lmao.
There's a lot of ways to interact with the artists in fandom. I personally reached out and interacted with one of my favorite ones here on Tumblr and now we message daily and have best friend ocs!
Tldr: If you want content to consume <- nah let's call it what it is. If you want art to enjoy and fic to read, interact with the artists and authors. Show some love with reblogs and comments. It makes us feel like we did a good job and gives us the energy to continue! Lurking is a choice and I for one am so glad I stopped watching people play and started playing with every one. Hello hello, it's Ash again here to dump my annotations and yapping onto you again. Holy fuck reading this took so much longer than I thought purely because this is the longest chapter in the game, I really struggled getting through the middle but once I hit like chapter 30 it was smooth sailing. I noticed reading this time vs the first time I read through this chapter I had much more interest in analyzing Tohma over Jin and didn't pay much attention to the dynamics of the chaos combo and just enjoyed their company instead.
With that said, here are my notes utc, sorry if formatting is wonky since I'm a mobile user, spoiler warnings for the end of season 1 if you haven't read it, and thank you for reading ❤️
TLDR; I think Haku might be the one who slipped the information about Jin's mom, not Yuri, and if not Haku definitely not Yuri. Tohma is a weird freak who is interesting to analyze, foreshadowing SO MUCH FORESHADOWING, I feel bad for MC all the way through
holy fuck this is such a long read-
- God as much as I love Frostheim and it's ghouls holy fuck I would actually like wither and rot in that kind of environment, and not because of the snow- Tohma forever remains an inherently interesting character to me for his composure, especially when it's the first thing we see of him off the get go
- On Tohmas character, whenever I go to analyse him I always think of one of my teachers saying "if you want to get rid of a noble person you go for them directly, if you want to destroy a noble household you go for the head butler because he's the one truly running the house." Can't for the life of me remember if that was an English or one of my Drama teachers who said that but it's relevant regardless 💀
- "The space at Jin's side is already taken by Tohma" deadass forgot they called them gay out the gate like that LMAO
- I do love that Tohma has very little shame in flaunting the fact that he keeps tabs on people as a way of getting them to shut up and stay in line, there's no denying that he's cutthroat to the point of being a bit of a brute. Makes his halberd all the more fitting weapon for him
- As MC explores the cathedral she says it's like someone went on a rampage in there, makes me wonder if that was the site of the clash, or at least a major fight during the whole incident especially knowing that Clementina and Ultio were at each other's throats
- I forgot Luca said he was the only ghoul at Emrys, though it's noteworthy to me Kaito saying the number of ghouls has shot up in the past few years. From Darkwicks perspective, they might interpret it as growing strife and calamity, or that the Kudan's prophecy is getting closer to being fulfilled.
- Man I remember when I didn't vigorously hate Moby. Too bad that's changed you undercooked plate of calama- (apologies for the Moby and Hyde fans who read my yapping, I don't like them at all)
- Though nothing but absolute props to Mobys VA, fantastic job with all his weird lines and laughter
- Moby also mentions that the twin swords have been waiting a long time for a new master, I wonder if he knew the previous one
- I lowkey forgot about the promise Luca made to turn Kaito back into a normal human being, which adds another layer onto the reasonable extreme crashout over his death later on
- The like dove! Nothing bad ever happens to it ever yup!!
- "Guess I really am a convienent person for them." MC you have no idea how much they are going to abuse that fact from now on...
- Frostheim truly is such a stunning house, I wish we would get full blueprints and more expansion of all the house grounds because I'm entirely fascinated by the structure of all of them. It's just a damn shame the general students piss me the hell off, because I would love to live in Frostheim but I think I would actually like wither and die in the hostile environment, it's just so, draining and so fake...
- Man the cycle repeating of Tohma and MC both being cast out of Jins room right at the beginning. Tkdb really loves rubbing in the things repeating themselves theme
- Dante I love you thank you for being one of the only professors I trust at this hellhole school. I do have a loose idea that Hyde always poking at Dante for having a soft and kind heart is a reminder for Dante that he can and should feel but it very well could be why Alan's dad died. Part of me wants to speculate that Dante's soft heart and his king hearted nature landed him in hot water and things twisted in a way because Anomalies TM and that's part of Alan's dad's death. Hoewver, I have no solid proof to pull from but the fact that it's seemingly such an important part of Dante's character that's always brought up tells me it absolutely has to be something to pay attention to, so in the mean time it's mere speculation ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- THANK YOU LUCA FOR BEING FUCKING REASONABLE. I DONT THINK ITS A CRAZY CONCEPT TO BE SENDING ESSENTIALLY A CIVILIAN ON A MISSION WITH NO TRAINING.
- I've grown to like Tohma more now but I still stand by my initial impression of him which was he lowk freaked me the fuck out. It makes a lot of sense that he's Jin's right hand man, there's not exactly anyone else who could fill the role he does let alone with such precision and ease.
- Really hoping we get the Luca backstory reveal this season cuz I really wanna know what his wish was and about his missing twin. I also do kinda suspect that once waves of love is done the next mission will be a Frostheim one, that or potentially Jabberwock.
- Still think it is incredibly weird for Darkwick to let a student be the treasurer, like yes it's Tohma and he's Jin's right hand man and Jin is nepo baby supreme but like ???? A student??? Not a designated faculty member??? WEIRD AF

- First time reading through the second Kaito said cult I immediately went yeah it's cult and was pretty close to being right
- Sora and Riku... The little babies... I miss them, I really hope we get to see them in the future and their lives are better and they're happy...
- The pitter patter of Kaito running will never not be funny to me
- I completely forgot that we even got a scene of Tohma and his pills so early, like I have absolutely no memory of that scene AT ALL. No wonder I was so surprised at Leo calling him a druggie later on 💀
- I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT JINS MOMS PASSING BEING A WHOLE SCANDAL.
- I still theorize that the person who dropped that info is the traitor amongst the ghouls and while logically Yuri is a likely candidate to reveal that kind of information, I don't think he would despite his resentment towards Jin and the line Thomas says "the dear friend, who left your side" does seem to point at Yuri, we don't entirely know the relationship between them, not do we know the depths of the relationship between Haku and the rest of the Frostheim ghouls which is why I'm partly inclined to believe it's him. On top of that, you really think Yuri is going to drop his research to do such petty bullshit? No, he's too proud, and that would be really low even for him. And even then Jiro is a liability, Yuri being without Jiro especially outside of Mortkranken is always going to be a notable scene. On top of that, once the news is casted we get two ghoul reactions aside from the ones who MC isn't with at the moment or in Frostheim, which is Haku and Yuri. (Honestly can't believe I didn't catch that the first time reading because man they really teased Haku being a Frostie fast) Why would they bother showing Hakus reaction? I have more to say but I'm too lazy right now lol
- Man I'm actually really glad I'm rereading the older chapters because some of this stuff I've entirely forgotten, like the promise regarding Jins mom.
- also psychological disorder? I am, very curious to say the least but Jin is probably one of the last ghouls we'll get a backstory for so- nevermind I forgot it was probably a cover up for murder-
- the chapter does a really good job at setting up Yumiko to be the person who did that if you don't pay close attention, and while she does take the fall for being the person who stole the transmitter, I don't entirely believe the situation as a whole, mostly because we know for sure she was never close to Jin. Whether or not she actually was the one who used the transmitter, I guess only Tohma knows the truth.
- I really enjoy that MC isn't just merry go lucky about being dragged off to this fantastical world like how a lot of other MCs are, she struggles, she's upset, she's scared, which is natural and is such a breath of fresh air in comparison to those emotions being washed over or dismissed
- Very intrigued at MC being literally invisible, because theres no logical explanation for that

- Running doesn't end well for anyone, I wonder if Haku is talking about Dionysia as a whole or someone else, part of me wants to say it's someone else but I have no evidence
- Okay the collar line is definitely foreshadowing to Lyca 💀 which definitely leaves me wondering if Haku really didn't know about him or not
- Errand in the area, bitch no you did not Tohma
- Okay question, we assume that the walking corpse mentioned earlier when MC was eavesdropping is case relevant here, why and how did Tohma have access to that security footage??
- Holy fuck reading this with the audio on for the manga scenes is way worse than I remember because you get to experience what the characters are right alongside them, hearing the running footsteps in the dark HELL NO DUDE FUCK THAT ABSOLUTELY NOT, doesn't help that I'm reading in the dark in the middle of the night either
- The anomalies don't particularly scare me in terms of visuals because I'm sitting here like hah, ok knockoff Slenderman and overall I do think the horror aspect of the game should be increased, but being able to sit and think on what a horrifying reality that is, hell no. MC was entirely valid for wanting to leave from the get go, and everything afterwards only justifies it more and more
- Luca losing his composure like that almost seems out of character for him, and paired with the description of his blades reacting the way they did has me thinking that those blades are the one to blame. Which would also work during Luca's big crash out at the end of season 1
- Jin just picking up the MC is still so fuckin funny to me, he really is such a funny character
- I really wish we had a wardrobe function for MC so we could put her in all her pretty clothes, even if she's just a chibi wandering around or staying in one place :(
- I hate and love Jin so much. Stupid bitch with his stupid smirk. He's such an annoying cocky asshole but if you actually see through his icy exterior he truly is kind and caring, he's just so guarded that it's easy to miss his true intentions. Him and Taiga are really quite similar
- "There are a lot of stubborn people around me" as if you aren't one yourself Tohma
- I do love the balcony end scene because it's such a valuable moment in terms of understanding Jin, Tohma, and their relationship, and it especially now that I'm rereading this serves as a great scene for just how far the mask goes on Tohmas personality
- The last line of the Kamurai family being able to sweep just about anything under the rug isn't lost on me with Jin being the one to dictate the masterpiece news and it makes me think of the usual dilema that any noble/high class love interest has of being able to be truthful or to change it because they simply have the power to do so (cough cough Jinshi tad)

Rereading through tkdb notes and commentary - Prologue
This is me, (Ash) probably just being insane and rambling but oh well, I don't give a shit I'm having fun >:) and new tag for this because I need a tiny sense of organization on this blog for my own sanity lol
I've decided to read through tkdb again since (unfortunately for me and my wallet) it has become a comfort game. So here's some of my notes and commentary and whatever else I feel like writing down, formatting might be weird since I'm writing on my phone and will probably be too lazy to fix stuff on my laptop :p
And as always, despite the fact that I'm rereading early chapters this is ⚠️ not spoiler free!! ⚠️ As I bring up evidence and mention things from later chapters!
Prologue
• Started an alt finally, my main acc I chose to save Jiro, this time I picked Tai, ough my poor babies...
• The line MC says "it feels like their time was cut short" has always stuck out to me, and granted it can easily be applied to MC and her curse but I wonder if it has more intertwined meanings with the ghouls. The concept of time seems to over all be a heavy theme throughout the story, (timelessness - heavy references to many greek, Roman, and Norse mythos, the Mc having direct association to Hera, Edward as whole. Vs Time constantly moving - Ruis curse, the price of hesitation throughout all of s1, and Taiga seems to be a bridge between the two concepts because he remembers)
• "If I'd known it was going to end like this, I wouldn't have fallen for them in the first place." GIRL. THE FORESHADOWING COULD NOT BE ANY MORE HEAVY HANDED.
• still curious if the affection system will have a bigger role to play in the story than just unlocking voice lines for the home screen, I hope so tbh
• I remember my first impression of Darkwick was literally "what in the Hogwarts ass build is that??" And I still stand by it lmao
• Though I do wonder if we'll ever get more information on the institute because the original before game release mentioned it being very heavy on that.
• since I'm reading this by starting an alt account, man this story feels a lot easier to digest with the MC being Luna instead of self inserting myself in, but then again I've always struggled to put myself on what are supposed to be "blank characters" for the sake of roleplay, and the only exception to that has been Joker P5 because he has some unhinged choices that I would actually make 💀
• On the topic of alt acc. shenanigans, my main account if I go back to Hyde doing the house sorting no matter what I pick I get Jabberwock, and this time I finally got Sinostra so Im wondering if your results get locked after the first time because I know I picked wildly different answers on main and still got Jabberwock
• Honestly I kinda forgot how much mechanic dumping happens within the first like 7 episodes between Haku mentioning the lost property, the warding cards from Hodge and Podge, the ghouls and academy as a whole, the institute, there's so much shit happening.
• The noise I made when I saw Hyde. Hate that man. Nothing will ever make me hate that man any less with very few exceptions. The way I would- [ censored for legal reasons advised by Ritsu Shinjo ]
• As much as I hate the bitch, as a student in undergrad I would be highly interested in reading the research papers that Hyde produces as well as the theoretical labs that he would have to hold in order to do his research. Also would be fascinated to read Prof. Nicholas' work and Yuri's, I'd be way in over my head but I'd thoroughly enjoy it.
• Honestly props to MC for taking shit the way she did?? I forgot just how bad I fucking felt for her off the get go, if I was in her shoes I'd be so pissed off omfg- Like bitch you can't diagnose me with magical flower cancer and expect me to just be okay with being held hostage because of your fantastical diagnosis even if I believe what happened as the truth like hello???
• Knowing Jin and Frosthiem is the first chapter after this too? God poor MC, I would be so beyond pissed off. I love Jin, genuinely he is such a fun character and one of my favorites, but if I were the MC I would have slapped him so fast 💀
• Honestly I would've cried myself to sleep the first night at Darkwick. Long and Short of this - we love MC on this blog, she deserves so much better from the academy and institute
• Clash cleanup on the same day as the entrance ceremony and general student house reassignments? Interesting Cornelius. (Ep. 10)
• Nicholas' phone call I didn't really give a shit about the first time reading through the game but, now that I look at it again, a search party? "You know where they are!?" That's, something to keep note of. (I suspect in hindsight now after s2ep3 it's in relation to the Dionysia ghouls)
• Good lord I always forget just how loud Kaito is 💀 Honestly props to his voice actor for all of Kaitos screaming LMAO
• Romeo's phone call, something escaped? I don't remember if that was ever clarified later or if we have an explanation for that. Is he referring to a Dionysia student?
• Man. The foreshadowing of MC being called a guardian angel by Kaito and him saying that he was born to protect her hits a lot harder knowing the end of season 1...
• I <3 the chaos combo. They're so silly even off the get go. "You made her sad asshole! >:(" "I'm so sorry, I've been rude :(" GOOBERS. I LOVE THEM.
• Honestly I wish zzg would go back and optimize older backgrounds cuz some of them are hot shite in comparison to the later ones, especially the ones made for the campus like Cornelius' office.
• PROF. NICHOLAS MY GOAT I LOVE YOU SO MUCH 😭 genuinely nothing but kind and understanding to MC
• whehsbsjsj Haku.... Examinar Haku... Always kind and gentle... Hate him /j
• Maybe this is the student in me but I'm sitting here listening to Cornelius yap about how ghouls come into being and I'm like CITE YOUR SOURCES. SHOW ME PROOF AND EVIDENCE AND RESEARCH!! None of the ghouls to the latest chapters in the story have ever described actually devouring the demons they made a pact with - during the last goodbye chapters they've only described the process of their wish making and gaining their stigma, as well as earlier chapters described the wishes granted to Alan and Kaito during their backstory reveals. So I'm less inclined to believe the notion that the ghouls have devoured the demons they made a pact with until further proof arises which does fit with the nature of the ghouls being under researched.
• "We thought Hera's Snakes was a dangerous anomaly that caused the death of the wearer" 1. The foreshadowing couldn't be heavier, 2. Have I introduced you to my good friend the Kyklos-
• After all the shit poor MC goes through before the entrance ceremony Kaito and Luca truly are such a relief to see, honestly I'd love to paint the candlelit auditorium
• Kaito telling MC to stay away from Vagastrom and Sinostra will never not be funny to me because those are the houses I usually self identify with LMAO
• also while the sorting of the first years happen I think it's a fun little detail that the house themes play when they've been sorted
• "The whisper of the new moon refers to the tidings that alerts us to the birth of a new ghoul" - Haku in the latest chapters share with us that Darkwick is pretty tight lipped about how they gain awareness of the new ghouls, but with the statement here that the Chancellor says, part of me wonders if a deity tied to the moon or ocean is involved with the process of alerting the institute, but also it's entirely possible that the Kudan's prophecy is referring to the actual lunar cycle vs Cornelius' interpretation that he presents here in the prologue.
• Kaito crashing out about not wanting to be a ghoul is so real and so funny in the moment, knowing his backstory though...
• Forever thinking about when talking to my older sister about tkdb I described wickchat as a mix of twitter and reddit and she physically gagged lmao
• To some extent I think the Kudan's prophecy is true that the ghouls are champions who can save the world, but who knows.
• One of the things I remember gathering when I was reading the story through for the first time was that the first 7 missions are not only exposition to the 7 houses, but also remain unchanged during S2, after the Mortkranken intro mission that's when the timeline shifts and new missions are added in. So I'm curious to see if when we hit a theoretical season 3 and Ultio/Clementina is introduced to us all of the Dionysia missions will be subbed out with them or added in addition to the other house being functional again.
• I will say I am curious to see how many timelines we have to go through to be able to get a good ending, but at the same time since I hate myself (/j) I wonder who will sacrifice themself for MC at the the end of this timeline
