how did headmates/alters get their names?

leaving this as an open question, i think i wanna branch out from just polls.

for the two that handle most day-to-day matters, they were speculating about what would be best to differentiate from each other, as they had fully disassociated with the body's chosen name, and when the idea of colors came up, one of them said "well we're not choosing orange, i hate the mouthfeel of it" when the other started adamantly repeating, over and over, "i like orange! i like it!" and in a huff it was made a name

(the other eventually settled on a blue gemstone)

at one point a part who refused to speak willingly to us was identified and had to be labeled until he started speaking, and at the time he was called static because it was a cool word, but we could feel he wasn't particularly attached to the idea. we had an old oc around the time he came to being that we were extremely attached to, and we realized that he often was around when we were using certain muses or characters of ours who were extremely difficult and rough-around-the-edges types with well-meaning hearts... and so named him after them!

one of the kids is simply named after what we started calling it, and it seems more partial to that than a real name, but since it's scared of people it doesn't know we use its acronyms outside of trusted circles

everyone else is a fictive or concept that calls themselves by that concept
