This concept is pretty similar to my first concept but without the barrel image. This concept is my favourite of the tree because I really like how bold it is and how all of the type elements have a level of hierarchy and fit together well.

The hand lettering style seems to be very popular in vintage logos so I thought I would incorporate it into this concept. Personally, I really like the “Salford” part of the logo but the surrounding text seems a bit too plain and unfinished looking.

I have noticed that the majority of craft brewery logos have a distinctive, vintage style to them. I think this is to make them look more old style and artisan and to make it look like the company has history and heritage.

Interactive Map Apps

Interactive map apps are occasionally used as a form of navigation. The most popular version of this is a recent feature in Google Maps in which you can actually go inside certain shopping centres to find different stores and get directions.

Colour Coded Signage

Using a colour coded signage system is an interesting and creative way of giving directions as it allows for a more abstract way such as the coloured lines along the floor or a map sectioned off into different colours. This would also work with the colour coded floors idea we had.

UK Motorways

The UK motorways signage consists of a custom made typeface named ‘Transport’. It uses a mixture of upper and lower-case letters as the human eye can recognise words containing lower-case letters quicker than if the words were all capital letters, it is very important that the signs are easy thread when travelling past at 70mph.

New York Subway

The NY subway wayfinding system is one of the most comprehensive and well-known signage system and has been used as a template for many other similar projects around the world.

The use of simple shapes and colour coded elements makes the system very easy to understand and read at a glance.
