Fire animation in “Avatar the Last Air Bender”
Fire animation inspiration
Being my favourite animated series ever, i wanted to challenge myself to animate fire. Although my fire is a lot more simple compared to this. It was still my source inspiration.
Water animations in “Avatar the last Air bender”
Water animation inspiration
These water animations are simple and elegant. The water I plan to animate will not be this advanced however I would love to get to this level.
Animation from skylum.
This advert came up on YouTube, and I really liked the type transitions/editing. Like the way this type Is being manipulated in a more simple and or corporate setting.Â

Open Sans, animation progression.
I like the fire and water animations very much.
Trying to bring a unique animation style.
Small gif, I created that showcases Open Sans. The Idea was for Open to be revealed by a door of some what opening.
Early research/practice with Video Timeline animating. I really like the droplet affect and the regular Open Sans text rising from the liquid. I also like the stipe that comes in diagonally to take away some of the text.Â
navy blue and white, I chose this colour combination/palette not only because dark blue is my favourite colour but because through research I noticed that the type specimen booklets I felt were most affective had a high contrast between colours. This means combinations like black and white ect. I also tried other colour palettes such as light blue, (felt it didn't stand out enough on the white).Â
Two mockups of page number two. The blue looks good, however I feel as though the white background doesn't steal attention from the type family itself.Â
Display pages. these pages are minimalistic but in their own way capture the essence of Open Sans as a typeface. The first one is “Open Sans” in light, and duplicated repeatedly. The second one is a page constructed entirely of ”sm” in a range of font types. The last one is a lowercase light italic “a”. This is the most simplistic of the lot, however I think its simplicity is elegant.
With these pages I played with scale. I really like the contrast of large text to small text, as well as the sharp contrast between the dark blue and the white.
This was my second attempt at my cover page. I preferred this to my first attempt. I liked its use of negative space, as well as use of grid and its balance on the page. Although this cover page is an improvement from the first attempt, I still wasn't happy with it. I didn't like the drop shadow as well as the lack of Open Sans itself in the design.
