Improve your guitar playing at live gigs
Some musicians secretly hate playing live gigs. Truth be told, most of them have a perfectly good reason for it. Most of them say they’re scared, and because of this, they make mistakes. But the thing is, every single guitar playing mistake is only due to ineffective or insufficient practice. This is better news than people realize since it means you can control how you improve your live playing skills. Here are some important tips you should know.

Reliability over perfection
Check your mindset. Don’t go for zero mistakes. Putting that much pressure on yourself can be disastrous to your playing. Even the greatest legends of guitar make mistakes playing live, but don’t use that as an excuse to play sloppily. Train yourself to play the best you can. However, also give yourself a break if and when you make mistakes. Don’t beat yourself, especially in the middle of a live performance. Strive for reliability, not perfection. Aim for consistency.

Ideal skill level vs. live playing skill level
The ideal and live playing skill levels are both abilities that guitar players need to keep in mind. Ideally, guitarists play their best when they’re concentrated, seated down, not distracted, and not cold, among other things. Live playing is quite different. Oftentimes, you have very little control of the conditions when performing live. Aim to bring both levels closer together.
