Ruth's tweets about Liam indicate that Liam is not leaving the band and that there is still a band. Apparently however Liam can't go "2 years" (as according to her) without releasing music. I'm happy that it only seems more like a project but I also feel sad that Liam has internalised this absolute ruthless and exhausting time schedule of 1D and feels like he needs to deliver year after year without catching a breath. I hope this is gonna turn out good for him and the boys but I worry for them

I personally don’t think Liam is doing this because he feels like “he needs to,” I think he’s doing it because he loves music, he wants to show off his voice, and he wants to explore a different type of music than what the band did.

Also it would be wise for all of them to do solo projects and stay in the spotlight. That's the smartest move and it would help the band when they return.
