𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫

Being the eldest girl in the sully family was hard, as your dad always expected a lot from you. But it was difficult, Because you didn't enjoy hunting or the idea of guns and violence. You liked weaving with your mother and grandmother. And you enjoyed learning how to heal the real navi way not with human medicine.

So when your dad decided it to be best if the family moved away because the sky people had returned. You were far from happy. And refused to talk to him the whole journey. Only giving him death stares when he tried to speak to you.

When your family arrived you were in a place that was very much foreign to you. And the same with the people who you meant to be the Metkayina clan you felt like an animal as you and your family stood in the middle of a crowd. They were all staring at your family in confusion muttering about you appearances. You had to admit it did make you uncomfortable as you wrapped your arms around yourself.

Ao'nung however just stared at you. Your were so beautiful. Your skin looked so soft. And you hair which you had braided and placed feathers of all different colours. Ao'nung couldn't take his eyes away from you. He could have sworn you were moving in slow motion as you stood shyly underneath everyone's eyes.

When both of your eyes met. You felt something that you had never felt before. You couldn't explain what it was but it felt good. You sent him a small smile and Ao'nung could have sworn his heart melted at the sight. He didn't understand how one smile could make a girl so beautiful. But he was to nervous he just turned his head and watched you from the corner of his eyes.

Watching as you smile dropped as you looked away from him and back to the floor. So when Ao'nungs dad pronounced that you and your family could stay he was secretly happy. But he couldn't have his friends knowing that he was happy about strangers being on their land.

Tsireya had been given the task of teaching all of you how to learn the ways of the Metkayina people and you were eager to learn. You were doing surprisingly well swimming next to the girl as the two of you laughed with one another at your brothers attempts to swim.

Ao'nung made fun of your brothers. But he didn't have it in him to make fun of you. He found it cute how your face would scrunch up in confusion. And bite your lip when you were trying focusing. He knew it was wrong for him to like you. You were meant to be from the forest and he was from the sea. He shouldn't like a girl like you. So why did he ?

"I'm trusting you four to make a good impression. Don't do anything stupid like usually. Do you understand ?" Your dad told you, Lo'ak, Neteyam and kiri. You all nodded as he walked away. You sighed as your siblings walked away to. You hated how much pressure your dad put you under.

So you decided to go off on your own for a swim to look around. You loved all the pretty sights that laid under the ocean. So that's exactly what you did. You swam with the sea animals and go used to holding your breath under water by sitting down at the bottom off the sea and listening to the sound of your own heart beating to keep yourself calm. And to control your breathing.

But by the time you left the water it was no longer light outside it was dark very dark outside. You silently cursed yourself your dad was going to kill you. It was way after curfew. When you finally reached your family's shelter. You saw your dad stood up pacing the room and your mother holding a sleeping Tuktirey in her arms as well as the rest of your siblings who were all sat next to your mom.

As you stepped inside you dad rushed over to you grabbed your shoulders. "Where have you been! We've been worried sick. All I ask if for you to behave and you go and do this! For god sake y/n do you know how scared me and you mom were!" He shouted at you ignoring the tears about to fall from your eyes. You opened your mouth to speak. But you dad just put his hand up to stop you. "Don't. You've done enough" he told you as he moved away from you and made his way to his bed your mother followed as she sent your siblings to their beds they gave you sympathetic looks as they walked past.

You couldn't sleep no matter how much you tried you mind just wouldn't stop racing so when you looked around the room. To see that every one was asleep you snuck out of the room. So what your dad would yell at you for anything you did anyway. You sat on the deck with your feet in the water. Crying quietly. Why couldn't your dad ever listen to you. You instantly stood up when you heard a sound behind you.

Ao'nung stood up with his hands in the air behind you laughing at your shocked expression. "Wow calm down. Are you crying?" He stopped laughing stepping closer to you. You wiped your eyes getting rid of the tears and turned away from him. "No, just something in my eye" you told him sitting back down and placing your feet back in the water.

Ao'nung sat down next to you and put his feet in the water to. "What's wrong" he asked placing his hand on yours. You were instantly shocked and looked down at both of your hands. You let out a soft sigh as you turned to look at Ao'nung. "my dad. He doesn't understand, I know he wants to keep me safe but he just yells all the time." Your English was not the best as your mother preferred you to speak the real navi way. Ao'nungs face softened as you told him what was wrong. His thumb trace over the soft skin of your hand as the two of you stared in to one another's eyes.

There was a strange feeling inside of your stomach you had never felt this way before. You felt like Ao'nung understood you. More then your family. He listed to you. And didn't shout at you. He was gentle. When his hand made its way up to your cheek you exhaled a shaky breath. You had never kissed a boy before. Sure you had seen other people kiss but you yourself had never kissed anyone. Ao'nung moved his face closer to yours. You could feel his hot breath on your face as he moved you hair behind you ears.

Then his lips met yours. And you could have sworn you saw stats. You had butterflies in your stomach but Ao'nung put them to rest. His lips were so gentle and loving. You loved the feeling of them on your lips. As the two of you pulled away Ao'nung kept his hand on your cheek just to feel you. He had wanted to do this since he had first set eyes on you. "I see you y/n" he whispered. You were shocked nobody had said that to you. You had a huge Amalie on your face as you kissed Ao'nung again.

Pulling back you softly whispered back to him. "I see you to Ao'nung" he smiled widely as the two of you stood up. "Meet me here tomorrow night. I must see you again y/n" he said to you letting go of your cheek. You nodded and smiled back at him. Never in your life had you felt so happy. So understood. "I shall walk you back. It is dangerous alone" he said to you as he took your smaller hand in his large one and began to walk you back to your family hut. The walk was quite a comfortable silence.

When you arrive in front of you new home you pulled Ao'nung in for a hug. And he hugged you back bringing his lips to yours making you smile. The two of you pulled away as you bid each other goodbye. You watched as Ao'nung walked away. You had a huge grin on your face as you remembered what had just happened.

You didn't want any of you family to see you or give your dad another excuse to yell at you. So you quickly and quietly climbed back in to your bed still unable to get rid of the cheeky grin on your face.

The next morning you woke up. You saw your mother weaving in the corner near your dads bed. You decided to go and talk to you. As much as you loved your dad. You spent most of your time with your mom. You got up from your own bed and to over where she was sitting and decided to help her making her smile at you. "Momma , can I ask you something" you asked looking at your mom next to you who sent you a soft smile and put down what she was doing.

"Of course my sweat child" she told you. She sat up so that she was now up right on her knees looking down at you curiously about what you were going to ask her. "When. Uh, when were you given a mate. Like what age." You asked looking down at the floor embarrassed by your question. But your mom just smiled and took your hand.

"I was told who my mate would be when I was sixteen but I mated with your dad when I was eighteen." She told you. You were seventeen did that mean you could get a mate. If so you hope it would be Ao'nung after last night you hadn't stopped thinking about him. Even in your dreams. "You like a boy don't you ?! Who is it?" Your mom asked excitedly wrapping her arms around you. You just laughed at her. "No I don't! I was just curious" you told her still laughing but you knew that you couldn't lie to your mom. She knew every thing.

Your mom watched you suspiciously as you left the hut with a small smirk on her face. You were in love like she was. She could see it. And that made her happy to see her first born happy. But she didn't like the fact that you were growing up. She missed watching you learn to talk and walk and she just missed holding you like she used to. She knew that Jake was the same that was why he was so hard on you.

When the night came you snuck out again loak hadn't come home but you just assumed that he was having a swim like you did the other night. You went to the spot where you had met Ao'nung the other night sitting down with your feet in the water. Kicking your legs back and forth gently creating little ripples in the sea. It was a beautiful colourful blue lighter than your skin.

You could see all of the fish swimming around and some of them came close to you and you greeted them kindly stroking there heads. And then they would swim away. You smiled giggling when one animal in particular took a liking to you it was only small.

Your brother began to wake up your dad, mom and siblings all except loak who was no where to be seen. When your family was awake your brother grabbed Aonung again. "Tell them exactly what you told me" he growled. Ao'nung sighed and refused to look at you as he explained that he and his friends had taken your other brother out side of the reef. You gasped worried about your brother. Prying that he would be alright.

Your dad when to the chief who sent out a search party for you brother the whole time you stayed by your family glaring at Ao'nung. And truth be told he felt horrible his friends had come up with the idea and he just went a long with it. He thought that loak would be back by now. And now he feared that he had lost you forever. And you had it set in your mind that you now hated Ao'nung. And you would never speak to him again.

And that hurt Ao'nung more then anything. He regretted so much about what he had done. And he knew that it would take forever for you to forgive him. So when his dad shouted that the boy had been fine Ao'nung was so relieved. You instantly jumped in to your brothers arms hugging him tightly. "It was my fault. All my idea. Ao'nung tried to talk me out if it." You knew your brother was lying so you scoffed under you breath and watched as everyone began to walk away glad that loak had been fine you watched as your brother talked to Ao'nung. And then your brother left. And you tried to follow him. Not wanting to be alone with Ao'nung.

"Y/n ! Wait please let me explain!" Ao'nung chased after you grabbing your wrist with a sad look on his face. You however were angry you didn't want to talk to him. "No! My brother could have died. You are stupid. Ignorant, like a baby making noise!" You shouted at him pulling at his hand for him to leave you alone. But Ao'nung was not going to give up. "Please I didn't want to do it. It wasn't my idea. That doesn't make it ok I know. But please y/n I can't lose you. Let me make it up to you." He whispered and you hard stare softened as he explained him self to you. He put his hand on your cheek his face only an inch away from yours.

You took your hand and placed it on top of his on your face staring in to one another eyes. "I see you y/n. Now more than ever" he said as his lips coiled with yours.

Over the last few weeks y/n and tommy had hardly spent anytime together, tommy was always cooped up in his office. While y/n was out side with Polly and Ada working on taking bets. And all y/n wanted was to be in Tommys arms. It had been so long she had almost forgotten what it felt like to be wrapped up in his warm arms that made her feel so safe.

But now that Alfie and tommy were on the same side. Things had begun to settle down. Tommy spent less time in his office. But the two lovers were still yet to have a moment on their own. So that very morning y/n had cleared out his day. So he had no meetings no calls. Nothing. But knowing Tommy he would spend his day in his office anyway.

So she had just managed to escape from Ada and Polly and opened the door to her lovers office. But he had not seemed to notice her. So she just leaned on the door frame and admired him from afar. She loved his glasses but he would often glare at her when she would say. And she loved the way he knitted his eyebrows together while reading.

After five minutes pasted by. Y/n knocked softly on the door not wanting to startle tommy. Tommy looked up from his desk and sighed in relief and took of his glasses and leaned back in to his chair comfortably. Y/n smiled and walked in to the office closing the door behind her before making her way to tommy and standing between his open legs.

She softly ran her smooth hands through his dark hazel nut black hair. As Tommy hugged her placing his head just below her chest. Wrapping his strong arms around her. “Missed you” she mumbled to him. And she really had. She missed the sound of his rough voice. His loving touches. She missed all of him. “Missed you to love. I’ve been busy.” He told her letting her go.

He smiled watching her. He had missed her to. More than she will ever know. Y/n placed a kiss on his lips before making her way over to the large book case in the corner of the room. She grabbed an old dusty book. She didn’t even know the name of. She handed it over to Tommy. “Will you read to me, please” she asked him. And tommy nodded at her patting his thigh.

She took a seat down. Making her self comfortable. Smiling As she felt him pick up the book.

When she was young all Dorothy wanted to do was to make her farther proud of her. When he came home from war. It was like the little girl had turned in to a complete stranger. She would draw him pictures only to later find them in the bin. She tried everything. She always did well in school but none of it was never enough for him.

So soon enough the young girl stood trying. She didn’t even speak with her so called farther. Dorothy couldn’t remember a time when the two of them had a conversation. She would watch the way John was with his children. How he would swing Katie around and cuddle her. She often imagined that her dad would do that to her.

But that day never came. And now here she was. in an all girls boarding school. She only had a few months of school left. She hated the place. It was filled with nuns. And there was one strange perverted priest. But Dorothy managed to keep out of trouble. Her quietness kept her away from most of the cruel punishments.

She did have to admit. That the place was incredibly lonely. She had no friends. And she didn’t receive any mail on Fridays like the rest of the girls. And Fridays were the days that Dorothy would spend on her own in her bedroom crying. She just wanted someone to write to her. Ask her if she was ok. Ask her how she was doing.

She just longed for one little letter. And then she received one. But it was far from the one she expected. It was an investment to her farther’s wedding. No are you ok? No. How are you? Just a shot in invitation. ‘𝑦𝑜𝑢 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑏𝑒𝑒𝑛 𝑖𝑛𝑣𝑖𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑎𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑒𝑑𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑜𝑓 𝑇𝑜𝑚𝑎𝑠 𝑆ℎ𝑒𝑙𝑏𝑦 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐺𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑒 𝐵𝑢𝑟𝑔𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑜𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑓𝑖𝑡ℎ𝑡𝑒𝑒𝑛𝑡ℎ 𝑜𝑓 𝑆𝑒𝑝𝑡𝑒𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟’ that was in four days. And all Dorothy wanted to do was to shove the invitation down her farther’s throat.

But the young woman chose to be civilised and decided to attend. She had taken the train to Birmingham and she would probably call a taxi from the train stations public phone. She had worn one of her best dresses. And she had gotten her hair cut. Her hair was nearly down her back when she was fourteen and now she had it cut to her shoulders with pretty curls.

She had changed a lot in four years. She looked nothing like she did when she had first left for London. And her voice was very much different. Her words always sounded very smart. And she had a strong posh London accent. She no longer sounded as rough as she once did and Dorothy quite liked the change.

She wanted to leave every thing that reminded her of her last life. She watched out of the window as the taxi pulled up to the church. It was large. She saw some men standing out side smoking a cigarette. She had arrived ten minutes early. But it seemed as though she was not the only one which put her mind at ease lightly.

As Dorothy exited the car she handed the money over to the man bidding him a fair well. The young woman made her way over to the church noticing some of the men smoking their cigarettes outside staring at her. They were wearing cavalry uniforms which confused her. She remembered how much her family hated the cavalry.

A lot has changed. She gripped her small purse in her hands. As she walked through the doors of the church. The rows were full and Dorothy could see her farther stood at the front with her uncle. Dorothy walked quickly hoping that they did not notice her. And just her luck they did not. She took a seat next to a large man with a beard. He did seem to mind as she sat down.

She noticed Finn in the corner of her eye looking at her. The two of them were once close. Dorothy would often comfort Finn after he had had a nightmare or when he had been told of for being naughty and he was yelled at. The two of them were friends. Well that was what Dorothy thought until she went a month without a single letter from anyone.

Dorothy looked away from the boys eyes. She also noticed the man next to her starring at her. She felt a soft pink colour paint her cheeks. Dorothy had chosen to sit further away down the church as the family of the groom and bride were sat. She wasn't ready for any awkward confrontations yet.

She turned to look at the man she was seated next to. He was much taller than her self. His face had some scars on it. He seemed rather friendly in his body language. But he hadn't spoken to her. And Dorothy understood. She was a stranger and so was he to her. So she didn't bother to engage in to small talk.

The church looked beautiful and elegant. And her family all looked to be wearing expensive clothes which was very different to what they wore when Dorothy lived with them. She felt out of place. Her dress was cheep and she had bought it in a small boutique in town. She shrunk down in her chair. Now Embarrassed of the way she was dressed.

It felt like they were all going forward and they were just leaving her behind. And she was just like some kind of dead weight. A young man came around with the lyrics of the songs that they would sing in church. The man next to her didn’t accept the paper. But Dorothy smiled taking it from the young man’s hands.

Of course with four years of church every day. Dorothy practically new every word of the songs. But the young boy looked scared from talking to the man next to her. So she thought she should be kind. And it seemed to work. The young boy looked more relieved as he returned the kind smile to Dorothy. And carried on handing the slips of paper to the rest of the people.

As the church choir sang in the bleak midwinter. Everyone sat in silence. And soon Jeremiah Jesus came forward graces side looked disgusted with the fact that their was a man of colour who would marry grace and Tomas. But Jeremiah didn’t let that bother him as he walked forward taking his place at the stand.

And then the music began to play. Dorothy and the rest were all waiting for grace to come down the isle. She looked around at the rest of the family. None of them had noticed her here. And she couldn’t lie she felt really disappointed. She thought that at least one of them would have noticed her being at the bloody wedding.

And then grace came out from behind the door with her farther holding her hand as he was dressed in a cavalry uniform. A dark purple vail was placed over her face so nobody could see her face. All of the women on graces side of the family all fussed over about how lovely she looked. But the Shelby women didn’t look very happy. Dorothy wasn’t really bothered.

Tommy removed the vail off of his future wife’s face. They both smiled at one another. Before they both turned towards Jeremiah Jesus. Waiting for him to marry the couple. Dorothy heard the man at the side of her let out a unhappy grunt. Dorothy turned to look at him. He was also looking at her. Making the young woman blush as she turned back around.

“Dearly beloved, we are all gathered here today to join together in holy matrimony. Tomas Michael Shelby and Grace Helen Burgess. Do you Tomas Michael Shelby, Take Grace Helen Burgess to be your lawfully wedded wife ?” Jeremiah asked her father. And he turned to look at grace. “I do” he said proudly.

“Do You Grace Helen Burges. Solemnly swear to love, honour, and obey till death do you part. ?” Jeremiah now turned to grace and asked her. And she once again smiled and turned to her soon to be husband. “I do” she smiled saying it with the same pride as tommy did. “I now pronounce you husband and wife.” And the newly wedded couple brought one an other in for a kiss. Making everyone clap and cheer.

Everyone then made their way out of the church and outside. Dorothy was stood on her own. It was like nobody cared about her. She felt like a fool. As she stood with her purse in her hand. She just wished that she could go home. She watched as the two family’s gathered around for a photo. And heat Dorothy was not in it.

She watched as they all smiled together. Tommy and grace then climbed in to their carriage to drive to their home. She turned to see the man she was sat next to in the church standing besides her. “Who are you then.” His voice was rough and his frame was much larger than hers. But Dorothy sent him a soft sad smile.

“Dorothy but it’s not like anyone remembers” she said sadly looking at the man as she played with the purse in her hands. The man studied her. And he looked at her confused. He clearly didn’t understand her answer but he didn’t bother to question her which she was great full for.

“Ay been there. You need a lift.” He asked when he noticed she hadn’t come with anyone and women were not allowed to drive so she wouldn’t be able to get to Arrow house. Dorothy gave the man a genuine smile. No longer sad.

“If you really don’t mind.” Dorothy said. Her voice was soft. She was sweet. And there weren’t many people like that anymore and Alfie could tell that there was something wrong. And he didn’t want to engage In awkward small talk with his driver. When Alfie just wanted to blow his fucking brains out.

“Ay. Not at all” alfie said walking towards his car with Dorothy following behind him. Finn watched from the steps of the church. He knew he had to tell Tommy. He didn’t trust Alfie and he really didn’t trust Alfie around Dorothy. She didn’t know about the business that Tommy and Alfie had. So she was vulnerable.

Alfie opens the door for Dorothy and gave her his hand helping her inside the car. She sat down on the right side of the car. Tucking her purse in at her side. The driver gave Alfie a questioning look. But Alfie just nodded at him to drive.

“Who are you then. I’ve given you my name.” Dorothy smiled. At Alfie who nodded his head at her words. He was nervous that she would know who he was. And be scared of him. His name was well known. And many people already feared him.

“Alfie, Alfie Solomons” he told her leaning back in his seat in the car. His name sounded familiar. But Dorothy couldn’t exactly put her finger on it so she just left it. And shrugged it off and smiled at him.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you mr Solomons, so what are you doing at my dads wedding?.” Dorothy asked. Not noticing the shocked look on Alfie’s face as the words came out of her mouth. But he tried to keep his cool.

“Me and tommy. We’re business partners. Didn’t know he had a a girl. Thought it was just the little one.” He said as he stared at Dorothy who’s expression suddenly changed. She looked sad. Really sad.

“Yeah, I was sent away. For school in London. I don’t even think he remembers me. I don’t think anyone does.” She said sadly looking down at her hands with a sigh. Now Alfie felt bad. And that was a rare thing. Alfie never felt sorry for people. Not even for himself.

“Maybe that’s a good thing ay. You don’t want to be with them. Bunch a bastards if ya ask me.” Alfie said his voice rough as he placed his top hat on his head. Dorothy giggled at his comment finding him funny as he cheered her up. Maybe this whole wedding wouldn’t be so bad.

“I suppose your right.” She laughed. Alfie watched as she did. The way the dimples on her cheeks became more visible and he got to see her beautiful hazel doe eyes. As the car pulled up to arrow house. Cars were all over the place and Alfie ordered his driver to pull up right at the door. And then to park the car once him and Dorothy were gone.

“Wait there” he told her with his thick London accent as he got out of the car. Dorothy did as he had said and remained in her seat. She was not sure as to why. But she did not bother to question him. Then her door opened and their Alfie stood with his hand out for Dorothy to hold so it was easy for her to exit the car.

The young woman smiled at him taking his hand in to hers. As she jumped down from the car. She thanked him as she strained her dress down. And Alfie’s hand left hers. So she used both of her hands to hold on to her bag. Her and Alfie walked in to the large home.

It was beautiful. This was far from what Dorothy remembered living in. She remembered a small home. With stained walls. And dirty floors. And this. This was amazing. She felt so left out. While she was still learning how to cook and clean. Everyone else was living life to the fullest.

But underneath her and Alfie. There was a meeting. And her name might just come up. Tommy took of his jacket with a cigarette hanging from his lips. As John and Arthur finally appeared on the stairs. Finn was eating whatever he could get his hands in and all of the other peaky boys made their way in to the room.

“Right boys, you’re all here. Today is my fucking wedding day.” Tommy was about to carry on with his speech before John interrupted him. “Yeah and you said. There’d be no bloody uniforms” John told his older brother angrily.

“Nevertheless… nevertheless, John…despite the bad blood, I’ll have none of it in my carpet. Now for graces sake, nothing will go wrong. Those bastards out there are her family. And if you fuckers do anything to embarrass her, your kin, your cousins, your horses, your fucking kids. You do anything…” Tommy said in an angry rage once again before he was once again rudely interrupted.

“Tom?” Isaiah said and tommy turned to look at him his face still angry. “What about snow?” He asked curiously. “Yeah their women are sports I’ll say that…” John laughed bringing Isaiah in to a head lock. Scratching his scalp making the younger boy laugh.

“No. No. No. no cocaine. No cocaine. No sport. No telling fortunes. No racing. No fucking sucking petrol out of their fucking cars. And, you Charlie, stop spinning yarns about me, eh? “ tommy told everyone of the men individually.

“I’m just trying to sell you to them. Tom.” Charlie told his nephew. Finn was wondering when he should tell Tommy about Dorothy and the fact that Alfie was trying to get close to her. He knew that Tommy wouldn’t be happy. But then again Tommy hadn’t seen the girl in four years and no one other than Finn recognised her anyway.

“But the main thing is, you bunch of fuckers, desire the provocation from the cavalry. No fighting, Oi! No fighting. No fucking fighting. No fighting. No fucking fighting.!” Tommy shouted at the men as he went and stood next to Arthur until a male maid bumped in to him. Tommy pushed the man to the floor. “Get the fuck off me!” And then Arthur through a glass at him.

“Tom. Dolly’s here. But she’s all different her hair it’s short and she’s well she’s wearing a dress.” Finn said out loud. All of the men turned ti look at him. Clearly shocked that Dorothy was here. Tommy looked the most shocked. He didn’t think she would really come. Especially after he had been a massive dick. He hadn’t written her a single letter. No one had. She spent four years off her life by herself. And now tommy was having to come to terms with all of his guilt.

Tommy didn’t say anything as he left the kitchen and back out to the party in the home. He searched around for a young woman matched the description of what Finn had told him dolly now looked like. But what he saw was not what he wanted.

the light was dim as Y/n sat at her desk going over her papers at Shelby company limited. She was exhausted but she knew she had to have all these paper finished in time for tomorrow. She did not want to upset her boss. Well no one did he was the most dangerous man in Birmingham along with his older and younger brother. Y/n had not met Tommy Shelby yet and part of her was great full. She had heard many stories from her farther about how brutal he was. How many men he had killed. How many innocent lives he had taken, and the people he had hurt along the way.

Her farther hated the fact that she worked for the man. But he knew that they both needed the money, he was a normal factory worker and it didn’t bring in very much money for the family. So young Y/n took it upon herself to get a job and help provide for her loved ones. At a young age her mother had died due to the Spanish influenza. Y/n was impacted greatly by her death. Wile her farther was away fighting she lived with her grandparents who had practically raised the young girl.

Y/n sighed as she rubbed her eyes trying to keep herself awake. She continued to type away on the old type writer that did not want to co-operate with her. She was beginning to become frustrated with it as she. Walked around the small desk to look at the back of the type writer to see if they was something wrong with it. As she lifted it up she was only to find that there was no inc inside the stupid thing. She let out an angry scoff. as she walked back around to the front of her desk as she began to rummage through her drawers.

She looked up from her desk when she heard a door close in front of her. Her eyes widened as she saw him. Tomas Shelby. They eyes met as her cheeks began to turn a bright pink because of the embarrassment. She swallowed thickly as she looked at him. She didn't know what to say, what could she say. Everyone else had gone home. She was just slow at her job so now she had to finish her work for him at eight o'clock at night.

"Sorry mr Shelby, I just have to finish of the papers you requested for tomorrow, but the type writer does not wish to co-operate with that."

She let out a shaking breath as she gripped her desk biting her lip. She wanted as he brought his cigarette to his lips with out saying one word to her. Y/n stood there awkwardly waiting for him to speak but instead her just stood there watching her making her weak under his strong gaze. His eyes were the most beautiful shade of blue she had ever seen. His face didn't carry any emotion making her worried for a moment.

"No need to be sorry, you can finish them tomorrow I don't need them until tomorrow, how about I take you home?"

His words caught her of guard she was not expecting his kindness not after what people had said about him. He was meant be be a monster dangerous and heartless. But this man was far from dangerous and heartless. Even if he did seem kind y/n knew it was not best to get into a car with a man she didn't really know. Birmingham was a dangerous place after all.

" I really shouldn't, Lizzy said they needed to be done by tomorrow morning once I get the type writer working I can walk. I don't want to be a burden mr Shelby"

The man only shook his head and looked up at her once more. Her heart was in her throat the way he looked at her was the way every woman wished to be looked at. It made her cheeks heat up and butterfly's to erupt in her stomach. She was not used to much male attention apart from the odd drunk when she was walking home at night.

"You are no burden, as I said I do not need the papers until tomorrow afternoon, now let me take you home miss"

"Y/n , Y/n L/n"

She grabbed her coat from her chair and her bag from on top of the desk as she followed tommy to his car outside the building. This was her first Time in a car she didn't have much money to have such luxurious like a car but she didn't mind she was just great full for the things she did have. Most people in Birmingham were struggling with money and was lucky to be in a working class environment not a lower class one.

As she sat down she could feel his eyes on her making her bow her head with a small smile on her face. She played with her hands as she waited for him to start the car she didn't want to embarrass herself in front of him. He was intimidating and she had to admit she was a bit intimidated by him his strong build and deep voice. The he stood as if he owned everything even her. She couldn't put it into word but it was like he was the king of the world. They just didn't know that yet.

"Oh I live just down the road take a left then the next right my house is at the end of that street, thank you again"

Y/n smiled as she made directions with her hands at the window in attempt to show tommy where she lived. He only nodded holding in a chuckle at her child like habits. He wanted as she sat comfortably back into the car as he drove through the dirty streets of small Heath with the most beautiful girl he had ever laid eyes on.

How he hadn't seen her before was so confusing to him. Unless she was knew but he hadn't been told of any new people. But nobody told him anything anymore because his brothers were just fucking useless. He rarely left his office anymore. He barely interacted with people like he used to. His only friend was whisky it helped clear his head it made him calm down.

The car came to a stop as y/n picked up her bag from the floor of the car. Opening up the car door and shutting with a light slam carefully not to wake up the street. She sent Tommy a smile as she put on he coat walking around the car to her front door. She turned around to the car and mouthed a soft 'thank you'.

Tommy watched as he entered her home. He had not felt this way since he was a boy. He was so enchanted by the young girl he himself did not believe it. He sighed softly as he fixed his hat onto his head before driving of into the distance. Y/n watched from her bedroom window with pink cheeks and a cheeky smile.

The next morning as Y/n walked into Shelby company. She made her way over to her desk, her eyes widened as she looked down at her desk. There it was a band new type writer sat at her desk. It wasn't like the last one it looked beautiful it must have been expensive by the branding on the back as she looked up she saw mr Shelby nod at her as he entered his office.

As she stared out of the window she smiled lightly. Tommy had invited her to one of his many clubs, she had never been so exited. It did make her feel rather childish she knew that she did look quite silly for being so happy but the whole day she couldn't remove the Permanent grin on her face even wile she was working. Her head was stuck in the clouds just dreaming of how the night would go.

Even though she was exited she was rather nervous she didn't own many expensive clothes and y/n didn't want to look like a fool on their first date. After all the club was quite grand and elegant. Women wore beautiful dresses and expensive jewellery yet she had none of that. She had tried to find something to wear but so far she had nothing but right now all she cared about was him for the time being that was.

She had asked if she was aloud to leave work a tad bit early so she had time to get ready. Tommy had agreed not wanting her to walk home in the dark. He had been driving her home from work ever since the first day the two of them had laid eyes on each other. Y/n had to admit she was very flattened by his kindness, she was however nervous that her farther would find out about Tommys kindness and put it all to a stop and that was the last thing that the young girl wanted.

She grabbed her thing and left the building with one of the biggest smiled on her face. She bit her lip out of excitement as she walked down the street with a spring in her step. She hadn't really been on a proper date before of course she had a boyfriends in the past but as soon as y/n said that she wasn't really ready to go all the way none of them really stuck around making her feel like a fool most of the time. No amount of convincing from her farther made her feel better either. Stupid boys. But Tommy wasn't a silly old boy he was a nana true gentleman.

As she reached home she found that it was empty her farther was still at work her face scrunched up in confusion at the tow parcels on kitchen table it was a tow light pink box's one was significantly bigger than the other. As y/n placed her coat on the rack at their front door and placed her bag down on the chair she began to remove the ribbon on the bigger box she let out a gasp.

A band new pink dress was in front of her it was beautiful it was silk. Real silk, she was in such a state of shook it had a gorgeous silver belt around the middle of it. But there was more a fur shawl made out of real fur. She bit the inside of her cheek as she reached for the tag on the dress. ' the pretty dress for a pretty girl, TS' her cheeks became a deep red. No man had ever bought her something so Lovely, something so nice. It must have cost a lot and yet there was still one more box to open. She felt like a small child on Christmas morning.

As she opened the small box there laid a small white pair of kitten heels. She didn't own any heels they were hard to find in Birmingham and far to much for her but. She really was going to look beautiful tonight and she couldn't wait there were very few times when she felt truly beautiful and she just couldn't wait to have that very feeling of confidence and happiness. She was beyond grateful for what tommy had done for her. First the type writer then the dress the shawl and heel. She felt her heart practically exploded.

As y/n stood in front of the mirror in her bedroom she smiled like a mad man. The dress fit her like a dream the shawl made her look like the woman from most of a magazines she read. The heels made her slightly taller. But it didn't really make that much of a difference but they were lovely. She looked lovely. Her attention soon left the mirror as she saw Tommys car pull up outside of her house. She looked at her self once more before grabbing her purse making her way downstairs passed her sleeping farther.

She grabbed her key from the table before leaving the house and locking the door behind her. She turned to the car with a smile as Tommy just stared at her in awe. He knew that she would look beautiful in the dress he had asked Ada to buy. But my gosh he did no expect this she looked like a bloody film star. He watched as she made her way into the car she was just so mesmerising. He didn't want to look away from her frame.

As she opened the door of the car Tommy offered his hand to help he clim into the car. She smiled as she took it Tommy felt a small smile make its way to his lips. Y/n's smile was truly infectious, and he found himself often staring at her from afar the way she laughed. The way she would walk. He just couldn't take his eyes off her and even when he was trying to focus on business his mind often drifted off to thoughts of her. How he made her giggle as he drove her home.

As the two of them pulled up at the club y/n smiled as Tommy opened the door for her making her blush as she took his hand as he helped her get out of the car. As the two of them entered the club, the people began to whisper among themselves about tommy and her but she could not care less all that mattered in that moment was them together. As the two of them took a seat at the bar. Y/n saw the bartender swallow thickly as the two of them sat down.

"What can I get you tonight, mr Shelby."

Tommy looked over to Y/n for an answer but she didn't really know what to say she wasn't aloud alcohol her farther hated the idea of his little girl drinking.

"Oh I'll just have a water thank you"

She smiled sweetly at the man as Tommy ordered a whisky for himself taking a cigarette out of his cigarette along with a box of matches she couldn't help but each as he did. She didn't want to seem weird by staring at him but he was a very attractive man. And he knew that and his confidence was what had intrigued her the most about him.

"You don't drink?

He asked with his eyebrow raised bringing his cigarette to his lips watching as she brought the drink up to her lips taking a small sip of the refreshing drink. Y/n placed down her drink as she looked at him.

" well I'd love to try but it's my farther, he doesn't think it's very lady like if me to drink so I don't I've tried some but I can not say I'm to impressed"

Y/n giggled as she explained her reasoning to him. He only nodded taking a swig of his whisky with out pulling a face at the strong drink which came as a surprise to the young drink. He farther only ever frank whiskey on rare occasions and he usually couldn't handle the burn it came with.

"Oh! And thank you for the dress and everything else I don't know how to possibly repay you it's all Beautiful really, I didn't know you had an eye for clothes, mr Shelby"

"Tommy"He corrected her with a small smile tugging at her lips. She pulled a face of confusion at his words.

"What?" She asked.

"Call me tommy"

Y/n smiled brightly at his words she looked down at the table as she straitened up her dress. He new that he was the reason he was nervous but it was not the same reason as everyone else she enjoyed his company the compliments he gave her. He didn't want to make her nervous he wanted to make her happy.

"I didn't choose the dress I sent my sister out to find the prettiest dress she could find. And I must say she did a good job. You look gorgeous"

Her smile only seemed to grow as the words fell from his lips. She wanted to stay on this date forever.

As the two of them made their way to the car tommy held his hand on the small of her back suddenly tommy came to a hold making y/n confused as she looked up at him. He held her against him as she looked into his eyes. They were filled with passion. She had never seen him this way before. His grip tightened around her as her breath hitched. She looked up to see the smile on his face. It was rare to see the man smile and she had made him smile. She had made tommy Shelby happy.

His hand lifted up to here chin bringing it up to his face as he connected their lips together with a loving smile she slowly melted into his touch with his hands in her hair. His lips were soft, she let out a soft sigh as their lips parted. She did not want to stop not with Tommy. With him things were different. He was different, he treated her like a princess something she had never experienced before. He was kind to her.

Y/n couldn't wait any longer so without a second thought she pressed her lips against his once again he seemed taken back by her boldness but he soon wrapped his arms around her waist. She tangled her arms around his neck as she let her fingers dance through her hair. She had kissed boys before but nothing compared to tommy his kisses were passionate and filled with nothing but admiration and y/n just couldn't get enough.

As she pulled away she could feel his breath on her face she didn't know what to say , but she knew that Thomas carried the same feelings she did. She smiled as she brushed her hand across his cheek lovingly. She moved his hair behind his ear. As she pressed a kiss against his cheek. Tommy closed his eyes when he felt her soft lips against his rough cheek. Y/n made him forget everything. The war, the peaky blinders. Everything he was falling in love with her and he couldn't stop himself.

He didn't want to let go of her. He wished that he could keep her in his arms forever and never let her go. Y/n felt um the same she never wished to leave the soft comfort he gave her. The feeling that erupted in her stomach whenever she laid eyes on him. She loved that feeling she was being to fall for him to. And she couldn't imagine if they never had met that night at Shelby company limited. They had only know each other for a month but it felt like she had known him her whole life.

"I wish I could stay with you forever"

Y/n whispered in his arms with her face against his chest. She looked up at him as he watched her features turned into a frown as she looked over to the car in front of the two of them. The same car that had practically brought them together. His hand left her waist. As he took her face in his hands.

"Then do just for tonight"

He said as he watched her smile as she kissed him softly he smiled and led her to the car opening up the car door for her. She smiled and climbed into the seer of his car and watched as Tommy he walked around to the other side of the car. He fixed his cap on his head and grabbed his leather gloves from his pocket.

Masculine decor covered the home making it easy to tell that this was tommy Shelby's home.

"You're home, it's beautiful truly"

She smiled lovingly as she stared around the home in awe. Tommy simply just sat down in one of the chairs and began to pour him self a glass of whisky. He grabbed another glass and began to pour only a small amount of that into the glass. He pushed the glass over to y/n with a smirk. "You said you wanted to try"Y/n returned the smile as she picked up the glass bringing it up to her lips taking a small sip of the liquid. Her face turned sour as she swallowed it. Tommy let out a short chuckle at her reaction to the drink.

“As I said before I don't think I'm missing out on very much" y/n laughed as she placed her drink back down on the small table in front of them. She watched as Tommy drowned the rest of his drink without pulling a face like she did. Her face suddenly turned red from the embarrassment.

"Yes,but I am missing out" y/n pulled a face of confusion at Tommys words as he put down his drink and looked over at her. She took in a deep breath as he stood up and sat next to her brushing her hair behind her ear. His hot breath making goosebumps for on her delicate skin. I also used the words from a poem titled ‘Ode to the West Wind’ by Peggy Shelley. Being a secretary for a gangster meant that the option to meet new people didn’t come about often. Of course, you’d meet new people every day, but most of them were not to be trusted. Even strangers that showed an interest may have an ulterior motive, so friends and relationships were infrequent in a profession like yours. You knew the danger that came with your closeness to the King of Camden Town, but you accepted it; is there anything anyone would not accept for love? You were only an employee to Alfie, but he soon became the light of your life. It may seem silly to others, given his reputation and his loud and rough exterior. Alfie Solomons only showed you kindness and softness, for what you did not know was that he loved you just as much as you loved him, probably more. You felt the safest in Alfie’s presence, knowing that no harm would come to you if he was around. You attributed his protectiveness over you to his need to keep up his reputation and not appear weak. After all, how would it look if one of Alfie Solomons employees was injured on his watch? This, of course was not the case. Alfie couldn’t bare the thought of something happening to you; he would’ve kept you away from everything dangerous and bad in the world if he could, but he couldn’t. He could not be around to protect you every moment of every day, even if he would like to.

The Shelby’s were trusted partners of Alfie’s, and they were around quite a lot. The few encounters you’d had with the Shelby women during meetings soon blossomed into a friendship. The only time you ever spent away from Alfie and the bakery was often spent with the Shelby women. Lizzie, Ada, Polly, and Esme were your closest and only friends aside from Alfie and maybe Ollie. You were often invited to the Shelby’s parties, regardless of the occasion, whether the party be for business or pleasure. Alfie rarely attended these events, and tonight is no exception. Tonight, is only a weekend party hosted by the Shelby’s, not for business, legal or otherwise, so no unwanted guests are expected to show. Although Alfie is not there to protect you, as you are amongst friends, and you have no reason to need protection. Your guard is down, as it often is when you are in the presence of trusted friends, though the few drinks you’ve had do not help with your lack of alertness. This is why when you leave the party for some fresh air, you go alone. You are looking at the sky outside of Tommy Shelby’s manor, the stars shining so brightly your heart swells and you only wish to share it with one man. Your thoughts of longing for Alfie are interrupted by the sound of footsteps behind you and you turn, expecting to see one of the women you have grown so close to. Instead, you are greeted by an unfamiliar man.

“I’ve seen you around before, you’re a part of Solomons crew, ain’t ya?” He lights the cigarette between his lips and offers you one, but you ignore it.

“I’m Mr. Solomons secretary, y-yes.” You internally curse yourself for stuttering, but you rub your arms in attempt to blame it on the cold.

“I’ve never met that Solomons man before.” He shakes his head and takes another long drag, blowing the smoke to the side, not looking in your eyes. “My brother met him though—worked with him, actually.” He nodded and your chest grew tight. Something was wrong. “Yeah, he worked for him until Solomons beat the life out of him with that cane of his, right…yeah, he did. So that’s what I’m going to do to you, love.” His words were so calm and nonchalant you almost thought you misheard him, but when you meet his eyes and he’s looking right at you, you could see that you heard him very clearly.

“W-What?” You push the word out, you want to run but you’re frozen, only able to look at him with wide eyes.

“It’s nothing personal, yeah? I don’t want to kill a woman, but you are simply the loss that will hurt him the most. I’ve been watching you with him—I see it in the way you are with him. No one else would hurt him the way losing you would, it’s just business, see?” He drops the cigarette and stomps it with his boot, so you take this as your chance to turn and run for the doors, but you aren’t quick enough. He yanks a fistful of your hair, and you cry out in pain, tripping and catching your chin on the cement steps of the entrance. He stomps on the hand you have on the ground, attempting to push yourself up. You scream for help, and he shoves your face into the gravel underneath you, tiny rocks imbedding into your skin. Blow after blow, you become weaker and cry out less. The effects of the alcohol are long gone, and you are feeling every bit of pain he wants you to, until you hear the door to open. “Y/N, are you—oh, God! Tommy! Arthur, John, come quick!” It’s Ada’s voice that you hear, and you think she sounds like an angel. The man, once on his knees straddling you, stumbles back to a sitting position at your feet, startled. He wasn’t a professional by any means, and he wasn’t prepared for being interrupted. He tries to scramble to his feet and run, but he isn’t quick enough, and the Shelby brothers soon have him by his arms, Ada and Polly helping you to a sitting position. They’re speaking but you don’t hear them, you can barely see, your vision clouded by swollen eyes and blood. The last thing you hear is a crack of thunder before everything fades to black.

“Where is she? Where the fuck is she?!” Alfie Solomons’ voice booms throughout the manor, his eyes crazed and murderous, he walks with a purpose, right up to Tommy Shelby, who is waiting for him in the foyer. Cyril trotted behind Alfie, struggling to keep up with the man.

“She’s safe now, in a spare room, being looked after by Polly and Ada. We have the man responsible locked up in the stables—”

“Take me to her.” Alfie demands, and though he wants nothing more than to kill the man who hurt you, he needs to see you first. Tommy knows little of you and Alfie’s relationship, but he knows it is more than just a secretary and her employer.

When Alfie sees you lying there in a bed of pillows and blankets, your skin covered in blood, sweat and bruises, he falls apart. His face softens and he rushes to your side, nearly knocking Lizzie, who had been tending to you, out of the way. You’d been changed out of your bloodied and ripped clothes and were wearing a thin nightgown, the collar sticking to your chest with sweat. Your hair was pulled out of your face and your skin had been cleaned of any excess blood, your wounds now covered in medicine and bandages. One of Alfie’s hands held your warm one, the other resting on your head softly. You were mumbling under your breath, your eyes still closed.

“We’ve given her something for the pain…she’s got a broken rib and a broken hand, but we won’t know everything until we can get her to a hospital.” Polly says to Alfie, noticing the way his brows furrow in confusion at the randomness of the words you are saying. “She’s been asking for you.” The man’s heart swells in his chest at the words, though his eyes never leave your face. His thumb is softly brushing your forehead, careful to avoid all the injuries on your face. “Well, I’m here now, right. It’s Alfie, love, I’m here now.” He presses a kiss to your hand and the women, who are now hovering in the corner share a look. They’d never seen the big, bad Alfie Solomons so gentle. Who knew such a bear of a man was capable of such delicateness?

“Alfie? Alfie…” You murmur his name over and over and your eyes peel open slightly, your vision hazy. The hand that he’s not holding reaches out and strokes his face, his beard, his lips. Anything you can touch, you do, and instead of pushing your affection away, he opens up to it, leaning into your touch.

“I’m here, treacle.” He softly presses a kiss to your fingertips, and they drift down to his beard, running your fingers through the hair there. Is he real? You’ve never been so lucky to touch Alfie’s skin, only the brush of hands occasionally. Would Alfie show you such affection and love? Would he press kisses to your skin and allow you to touch him so freely? You doubt it. You accept that he’s a dream Alfie and embrace it, letting yourself giggle softly and play with his face as you wish to. He forces a small smile, slightly relieved to see you portraying an emotion other than pain. He notices a wound on your jaw has started to bleed and he sits up abruptly, though careful to not hurt you, and looks around for something to stop the bleeding. He finds what he needs and carefully begins to clean your face once again, the women watching him carefully to make sure he doesn’t make a mistake in caring for your wounds. Though, of course he would not, he knows how to handle an injury. You squirm in protest, leaning away from his touch, your fingers wrap around his wrist to stop his movements.

“I’ve got to stop the bleeding, darling.” He says softly, and just as you’re about to complain, a new presence makes themselves known, as Cyril jumps onto the bed next to you, nuzzling his head into the side of your leg. “Aye, down—” Alfie starts, before you begin petting the dog gently behind his ears.

“Cyril, my friend, I’ve missed you.” Alfie almost laughs at your exasperated words, as you’d only seen Cyril a few hours prior. He allows you to pet the dog for a moment before he delicately nudges your face to look at him.

“Alright let me take care of you, yeah?” He mumbles, continuing to press the cloth into your bleeding skin.

“I love Cyril, y’know? Good dog, he is.” You nod your head, still petting the dog next to you. “He’s such a good dog, I love him.” You continue, your tongue poking out to lick your lips.

“Yeah, he’s a good dog.” Alfie agrees, trying to finish applying ointment to your wound after he’s stopped the bleeding, but you continue to squirm and avoid his hands. You try to touch his face more, your fingers holding his jaw and his beard and he’s trying to hold your hands to stop your prodding.

“So pretty, Alfie.” You breathe, your fingers ghosting over his neck and collar bones, catching on his shirt before they fall back onto the bed. Alfie’s heart lurches and he hesitates for a moment before trying again to tend to the damage done to your body. “Alfie Solomons…” You giggle, touching his face again, and he tries to calm your movements, but his heart is beating so quickly now, and he swallows before gathering himself, gripping your hands in his.

“Darling, you need to—”

“I love you.” You say quietly, your eyes glossed over from the medication running through your veins, your hands squeezing Alfie’s softly. “I love Alfie Solomons…” You sigh, one hand coming to rest on his neck, the other’s fingers tracing the slope of his nose. “That’s why that man hurt me. He knows I love you.” You whisper, and Alfie feels anger bubble inside him again, but it fizzles out momentarily when he realizes; you love him.

“You haven’t got to worry about him anymore, treacle.” He says softly, stilling his movements. Your hand drops to rest on his chest and twist in his shirt, the feeling of his heartbeat beneath your fingertips calming you. “It’s a good thing, that you love me, that is.” He says, a teasing tone to his voice and you tilt your head in question, still not quite realizing the extent of your confession, as you’re hopped up on pain medication. “I love you too, darling.” His voice is so soft, and you feel the vibrations in his chest, the warmth radiating off his skin becoming overwhelming to you. “Now, let me take care of you, right, love?” He brushes your hair away from your face again, and your touch drifts back to his beard.

“I’m okay, I just want…I want…” Your voice drifts off as you focus too intently on the task at hand, of twisting and brushing through the hair on his face.

“Alright, this is quite adorable, yeah, but why don’t you let us take over from here, Mr. Solomons?” Ada’s voice has a teasing tone as she approaches Alfie from behind, one hand gripping his shoulder and the other removing yours from his face. Alfie suddenly remembers that the two of you were not alone the entire time you’d just spoken, and clears his throat, his eyes staying on your delirious figure.

“I’m not sure I should leave her—” He begins but Esme and Ada usher him out the door, explaining that you’re in good hands and he will see you soon. Though you don’t realize it now, this instance will become a common topic of teasing for you and Alfie from the Shelby ladies, as his soft nature with you is so uncharacteristic of his usual behavior, it’s subject to make any woman fawn.

Y/n Shelby had been deeply in love with Arthur after the first moment she had met him three years ago. She was younger than him but it didn’t matter to either of them. Her and Arthur are in love, or at least she thought they were.

He was going through a down hill spiral he came home late at night either drunk or high off snow and y/n didn’t know how much longer she could last with his behaviour. He had become so violent he would scream and shout at her all the and all she could do was sit there and listen as tears fell from her heartbroken eyes.

Ada and Polly did feel bad for the young woman. Polly had tried to convince her that Arthur wasn’t safe to be around. Y/n being the young dumb girl in love didn’t listen she was to blinded by her feelings for Arthur. She thought that she could fix him my god was she wrong.

Arthur Shelby’s mind was fucked but he already knew that. He just fucked everything up so what was the point of trying to keep himself sane anymore. He felt like the lost little boy he once was. A dead mother a runaway dad. He would never be good enough for anyone nobody cared about him.

Y/n laid awake in hers and Arthur’s shared bed she missed the warmth he once gave to her. Now he was cold, freezing in fact. She knew that Arthur was probably out at the pub or with another woman but she had no other choice but to stay with him. She had cut ties with her family after they had said that they didn’t approve of the relationship between the two of them.

When thing were good between them things were really good but when things got bad the were horrible. Arthur would throw things he would say such hurtful thing and then the next day he would drop to his knees and spend the full door trying to apologise to her and of course she would always accept them. She loved him far to much to leave him. It didn’t matter what he would do she knew that she would always love him.

Y/n sat up in the bed as she heard the front door of their home open. As she began to lift herself out of the bed she began to hear banging and a series of curse words. He was drunk.

She left their bedroom and softly made her way down the stairs to see her husband struggling to keep herself up right. She sighed to her self as she entered the living room and he was still yet to notice her. She crouched down to see him better as he laid on the carpet with his eyes wide.

She brought a hand up to his face stroking it softly as she looked down at him with a frown on her face. He was heavy and y/n was tired she didn't want to have to Cary him up to their bedroom but she did not want to leave him down stairs wile he was high he had already broken enough of her personal things.

Arthur smacked her hand away from his face as he attempted to stand up but he ended up failing and falling back on to the floor with a large thud making y/n flinch slightly as she tried to get him to calm down but Arthur didn't listen only brushing her off as he continued to stumble around the house and knocking things over and he just didn't care making Y/n want to cry.

She put everything into her home all the memories her and Arthur had made together and he was so okay to ruin it. He didn't care for her anymore that was all that y/n could think of.

"Arthur, let's just go to bed. Please"

Y/n begged in a quiet voice she was scared of what he would say it wasn't always like this there was a time when the the two of them were well and truly in love with one another.

She watched him disappear into the kitchen she followed after him. She watched as he crumbled himself up into a ball rocking him self back and forth wile he hit his head out of anger. Y/n watched in fear and sadness. She didn't know what to do to help him. When she did help him it always ended badly but y/n couldn't stand the sight of her lover in pain it pained her more than anything.

"Arthur, it's alright. You're alright darling, let's just go upstairs to sleep and we can talk about it in the morning"

Y/n tried to reason with him but her words only seemed to light a fire deep with in him. She gulped as Arthur's eyes became dark with rage. He grabbed her hand in his pulling her towards him so they stood face to face.

Arthur looked like a mad man his hair fell in front of his face his eyes held in tears of anger. Her grasp on her hand was painful but she didn't want to upset him anymore than she already had so she just looked at him wile her body shook under his intense glair at her.

"No, I ain't fucking alright though I'm I! I'm Arthur fucking Shelby, I kill people with my bare fucking 'ands! Im a fucking monster I can't do anything right can I. Ay? Couldn't even fucking hang me self.

Arthur yelled in rage as he grabbed a vase of flowers and launched it right at the wall next to her. She let out a strangled sob as she look at Arthur with a shocked expression. She didn't know what to do he had never blown up like he did.

Y/n noticed Arthur reaching in to his jacket as she soon realised what he was taking out. His gun. She rushed over to him, grabbing his face in her hands as they both cried to one another.

Arthur took his gun out placing it to his head making y/n son louder than before. He began to bang the gun against his head repeatedly as he screamed at him self. His voice filled with a pain and anger y/n couldn't take it as she desperately tried to take the guns away from him.

"Please Arthur! Stop, stop it please!"

His hands trembled around the gun as he looked his wife in the eyes for the first time in a long time. Her cheeks were stained from tears because of him. She was sobbing all because of him. Why did everything he did always hurt everyone else.

The world would be such a better place with out Arthur Shelby in it. Y/n could finally live in peace and so could he. He had to be punished for all the people that he has hurt for all the terrible thing he has done.

He shoved to gun to y/n forcing it in to her her shaking hands as she looked up at him with even more fear in her eyes than before. Y/n was terrified she knew Arthur was in a bad place but she didn't know that it was this bad. He grabbed. Her shaking hands and warped them around the gun as she stood frozen in place. He brought her hand to his head with the gun.

"Shoot me y/n please"

His words made y/n cry loudly. She didn't want to shoot him she loved him so much she wouldn't do it she couldn't do it.

"Fucking shoot me y/n!"

He screamed making her flinch away but Arthur refused to let her hands go. She just shook her head mumbling to herself wile she cried that she just couldn't do it.

Y/n tried desperately to remove Arthur's hands from hers as she cried. She frantically struggled in his arms as he held her so tight. She couldn’t mace her body was driven in place when Arthur wrapped his arms around her. She had forgotten the feeling of Arthur’s arms around her. She had forgotten about what it felt like to be loved.

“I’m sorry, I’m so fucking sorry”

Y/n didn’t say anything in return she was so shocked by his change of emotion. She didn’t want him to lash out at her again. She simply just wrapped her arms around him pressing their foreheads together as Arthur placed a kiss on her lips tasting her tears at his actions before hand
