For goodness' sake! People who say that Kashmir is SUFFERING at the hands of India, STFU. You DON'T know the whole picture, you DON'T understand and NO, you DONT GET IT!
I am a Kashmiri Pandit. Kashmiri Pandits, are the original descenders of Kashmir, we are warm, kind-hearted and open-minded people, who have suffered MUCH WORSE than we deserved. I will basically be telling this whole scenario from my point of view (which is shared by the majority of Kashmiri pandits, I believe (not all, I repeat, not all)).
First off, would like to clear this-
Maharaja Hari Singh, the last ruler of Jammu and Kashmir, chose to be a part of the INDIAN UNION at the time of partition. This was mainly influenced by the Pashtun tribesmen's' (from Pakistan) invasion of Kashmir. (And just in case people were wondering, Maharaja Hari Singh was LOVED and RESPECTED by majority of both Muslims and Hindus in the Kashmir valley. How do I know this? I have heard this from my great grandmother and grandmother's first-hand experience.)
We were forced to leave our homeland. "FORCED TO LEAVE." We had never been the fighter community, Kashmiri Pandits are literate people who strongly believed in education. We were peace-loving people, and the Kashmir I have seen, everybody was treated equally.
There were terrorists, who killed from our clan, might I add, mercilessly. There were lists hung up on electric poles in different sectors everyday. Lists of people who would be killed within the week. The first onslaught of killings terrified everyone. And that's when pandits started migrating. We had to leave our hectares and hectares of fertile fields, passed down to us from generations.
Do you realize how tough that is? Refugees in our own country.
Our homes were burnt down, our temples raided, and though are state was so very pitiful, yet we survived. One thing so evident in Kashmiris pandits has always been there strong belief in education. Families went without meals, but the children went to school. THAT is how, it is our patience even after being treated so poorly, that we are able to live today. And I doubt anyone would be so rude as to point a finger at our sacrifice and suffering.
And now, when I see people on these platforms, talking about handing over OUR Homeland to another people, not to mention the same people that caused us these wounds, do you expect me to stay silent and let these misinformed people carry on with their thinking? I am sorry, but NO. I am with my nation, India.
Think I am driven by hate? No, that's not it. This isn't hate, it is the burning fire demanding the justice my family deserves.
