some post i saw on P5 Ryuji and how he might not be a bad student but more the kind to struggle with theoretical subjects made me realize Daisuke being quite like this too imo?
and then you remember he's more of a "man of action" type, and he went with culinary as his future career because it also demands practicing and not just theoretical stuff. Same goes with languages -- you learn the grammar rules and other theoretical stuff, but if you DON'T practice you cannot improve or actually learn it at fullest.
maybe once he was older enough and started to work on his adult life & life's goal, he might have improved his math too.
again, practicing and putting it to use. that's how he may be able to learn stuff, this is how he can fully understand lessons and theoretical stuff.
a CSHM AU idea i had and polished because maybe BeatBreak is the fault at this (thanks to the current arc, GIFT) and some other ideas i had.
Idk how many chapters it will be, but it's a story with versions from 02 characters & OCs (oh you know WHO they are, right!?) in a Cyber Sleuth setting. perhaps it will be short unlike the other stuff i wrote recently.
I don't think there will be major spoilers of the game, and if it changes i will gladly put a big, flashing WARNING about potential spoilers. But there's a tag there just in case.
so hey, since there's no official release for the 13+ novel, and also no fan-translation of it that is fully translated and not a summary from a forum (or wikimon page, which was where i read things instead), i will not writing/drawing 13+ content.
at this point i'm considering it as it was stated -- unofficial. therefore Beyond MV and 13+ will be considered different materials.

i will stick to my headcanons of Jun having Pulsemon as partner because it had it since Pulsemon was announced, had some idea in mind & the mon's evochain reminded me 02 digimon (especially Armor-mons) and because i have some issues with giving her a Kodokugumon.
i can find reasons to make it work properly, but unfortunately that's a territory i'd like to not walk in.
and as for Rui's backstory... mild feelings. does it work with 02TB sort of? well, it does -- if you watched the movie, you will pretty much know what i am talking about. HOWEVER this whole backstory being super duper escalated really fast and badly makes the ENTIRE MOVIE POINTLESS and unfortunately i have to disagree with sensei and stick with the Kizuna-02TB timeline as main timeline for my own stuff. AND BEFORE YOU ASSUME THINGS OUT OF IT: no, i don't hate it. i just think it was too much and the outcome of it seems to be interesting, but unfortunately i cannot fully vibe with it, sorry.
does i hate 13+ based of the stuff i read summarized on wikimon?
well, no.
actually i find it interesting and thankful it treats everything else as their own timeline branch and the characters have vague memories of those events, but some of the things there felt a little too much for my tastes; but again, i only read a SUMMARY and i'm avoiding it asap because fandom is being mean to everyone once again and discouraging me to even fetch for a TL'd version (my JP skills are too bad to read it by myself)
and since this is not officially released, i'm considering my own takes on Beyond MV instead, and i will only use 13+ for 13+ content. not for Beyond.
So, wikimon has a summarized explanation about 13+ and i cannot stress enough about the fact i don't want to get dragged into discourse, because this is the reason i'm writing this.
but seems like this is BASICALLY what i've been asking people to do instead of bothering staff members.
Like, lore-compliant or not, this feels like an attempt to ACKNOWLEDGE everything but place it into a timeline, also has some implications of multiverse existing within the Adventure universe, since Rui and Maki is said to come to that timeline or something else.
It's something like i'd have preferred over people yelling at you for disliking this or that and wanting to write your own timeline, with something similar to these events in order to salvage the good parts and change the contradictions, while still not denying their full existence.
Because, and i have to repeat this: It's IMPOSSIBLE to use EVERY SINGLE MATERIAL as they were released to us, the audience. Because they can and will be in conflict with each other, especially about different approaches of characters and lore.
You have to ADAPT the contradictions instead.
Many people had tried to use them as they were presented to us, me included. Trust me, i tried. But Adventure alone has multiple staffs, multiple ideas, multiple approaches about a single material. You will not be able to use all of those as they were presented to you.
And this is the proof.
Even Kizuna and 02TB has some vague nods to tri. without making it too obvious they had to change and adapt the text. The novel Dash X v. mentions Meiko vaguely as "someone Taichi and Yamato met in high school" without giving a whole detailed description.
And this is not because Kizuna/02TB staff have a beef with tri. or something! And if they had, they won't put it straight in your face, y'know? iirc, KinoshitaP said he wanted to give some connection to tri. and we can see how hard it would be to work as it was presented to us.
The deluxe Blu-Ray for Kizuna had some sort of summarized versions of the 12 characters' development from Adv'99 to tri., but the tri. parts were vaguely mentioned, implying they had to adapt the 6 OVA movies in order to make it more consistent.
Also the WS games are in total contradiction with both Adv'99, 02 and Tamers as a whole, but you can't simply say it aloud, so obviously the "they're all the same character" is something forced to be stated, especially when the material DON'T support it.
So even ShimomuraP's statement that Rui is not the first but something "special" was a forced attempt to not claim they had to change what tri. presented to us, especially when EVERYTHING ELSE about 02TB treats Rui as the first even in its movie & premise.
You can notice it now, right? How even staffs through the years would get forced to adapt other staffs' work in order to keep things consistent… right?
EVEN 02 HAD THIS. the OWG part is VAGUELY mentioned. You don't get any nods to Sora's "irrational girl" subplot at all.
And Taichi having a crush on Sora is so super duper VAGUE, while 02 itself shows a super-duper subtle off-screen development of Sora and Yamato starting to like each other in romantic ways.
And also, WS games are also vaguely mentioned too.
So what makes it different from 13+ then? Nothing. The fact it does acknowledge all those other materials made by other staffs while still following direct from 02 instead proves that yeah, you have to adapt a BUNCH OF THINGS to make them work.
Even if it is about playing with space-time tropes.
The whole "they retained vaguely memories of…" trope is not that unusual imo?
I mean, YDP original had this play on an idea that there was once another reality that was altered by Ken when things went too bad and on the verge of everything being destroyed. and i am just a mere fan.
13+ doesn't seem to be done to "retcon" things, but more likely to acknowledge their existence as multiverse's branches (since Rui and Maki are implied to come to 13+ timeline in-story), and honestly? this is a chad move in my books.
I think this is the best way to honor them all imo.
So i don't think this is "retconning" this or that, it's just proving that you can't use those other stuff without adapting it and salvaging parts that are not in conflict.
The fact Kakudou was too kind to do this is a cool & generous move and i'm glad for it.
He could've opted to ignore EVERYTHING, even those characters, but he decided to keep them, make them have a cameo or a mention, keep their memories and other stuff via space-time methods.
and if you loathe him or dunk on him i'm going to BLOCK you with no mercy.

BTW, this is the only thing i will comment on 13+ for now. if we're not moots on any of my accs, or if we weren't talking already for a while, or you only want to simply dunk on this and anything else -- do not approach me to talk about this.
i don't like the idea of considering the Beyond lore as "fix patch" or being argued about whether it counts as canon or not, or whether tri., Kizuna and 02TB are retconned etc.
until we get a full proper translation about that lore posted by Kakudou on his blog, i will avoid it. If you come dragging me into dunking him or any staff member of anything involved with Adventure branch, i will silently block you until i cool off or this whole thing is not hot topic for this fandom.

Hmm, judging by the way it was formatted (the use of parenthesis, which many roleplayers tend to use as ooc comments and not ic comments), this is directed at me and not Daisuke.

This question piqued my curiosity because... 02 started all of those catchphrases before an evolution scene, mostly. Adv'99 didn't have anything like that... but my memory is foggy so all i can think they had generic phrases like "let's go, [partner]-mon" and this also very much present in 02 as well.
But 02 came with "Digimental Up!" (or your local dub's variation) for the first arc, which could count as "catchphrase before evolving" imo. EXCEPT, this is not exclusive to Daisuke at all! Even in MenAS drama CD we have Ken and the older six playing with the concept, so there's voice clips for them. And with the D-3 Color Evolution toy, we finally has Wallace using it as well. (i wish in the future we could hear the Adult VAs and also even Rui saying this iconic catchphrase...)
I think this kind of sequence scenes never had an exact variation until Appmon, which when the Applidriver kids get the DUO model, when they applirealise their partners with it, you have some different phrases for Eri, Astra and Rei (Haru uses the same as Yuujin's) and this is only back with BeatBreak now -- Ghost Game and Adv2020 reboot does not have anything different at all!
If Daisuke had one... well, he does have one! or two, to be honest! But again, they're the generic and non-exclusive ones. I don't think he would like using something else to flavor his battles when he's too simpleminded and when he tries to be something he truly isn't...
... people find it too cringe and say "it's weird when you do that" or assume he's making fun of their own quirks and verbal tics.
So one assuming Daisuke starts adding some flamboyant flair into his battle scenes, like posing and very unique phrases regarding his role, traits etc... EVERYONE WOULD JUST FIND HE'S TRYING TOO HARD AND ALSO BE UTTERLY WEIRDED OUT BY HIM.
Why? Because the Daisuke they know doesn't care much about it, and if he's trying to sound cooler... he's trying too hard and not because he is running in circles all again.
As Ken said in MenAS: So if you can keep thinking that much, it’s fine, so like…once you start thinking more than that, please, I’m begging you, stop.
Which means, I don't think he would have one unique and exclusive pre-evolution catchphrase. It does not fit his character to be like this.
"Oh and the ramen--" The ramen thing unfortunately drives people insane, even if i think it's not that flanderized as people imply. But if we only refer to Daisuke by it, then it would be a glaring dead giveaway that someone would not understand Daisuke's character if they come up with a ramen-themed pre-evolution catchphrase for him (in the same vein as Astra's "groovy", as example)
