How do you make your backgrounds? Do you have a process or do you just sorta wing it?

I almost always wing them, I consider myself lucky if I have an idea of what the background will be like when I start drawing :,D I guess I like the flexibility though, nothing ever turns out exactly how I had first envisioned it anyway so I might as well surprise myself with how the background ends up looking! it also kinda helps with color too, if I feel I’m lacking a certain color I can add it in the background, or make it pop out or blend in, you know all sorts of cool color combos that play around with the characters in the foreground!
