My favorite part about Malevolent is how Arthur is not a perfect example of humanity that guides John to always the right path. He is angry, he is harsh, he is stubborn and petty, he wallows in his misery and struggles, he fucks up, a lot.
And yet he always tries, he is constantly trying to be better, to be the kind of man his daughter would wish him to be.
And maybe that is humanity, maybe that's just the kind of humanity that John needed to see, the kind in wich you are not perfect, you fuck up a lot, and yet you try, and you keep trying.
