He sits on the couch in silence.
He’s having a battle again with himself. A relapse, if you’d call it that.
Your heart hurts. He’s endured so much pain, so much verbal abuse and torture all his life. You want to take it away from him, lock it in a closet, burn it, kill it with acid, anything to relieve him of that emotional burden.
Loving him has come with a few bumps along the road. There are days when he becomes cold and tells you, “I’m nowhere near worthy of the love you’ve given me. How can you love me? How? you beautiful creature….”
There are times you look into those eyes of his, and you see the precious little boy he once was.
Or, how your dad put it once, “scared little boy shivering in the cold”.
If he shivered in the cold, you would wrap a blanket of love, of comfort around him. Hug him, wrap yourself around to protect, shield him from the vicious, icy words his father spewed out of his mouth.
You cried for him at times.
God! How could Odin keep such a secret that would eventually lead to him to attempt to end his life and land in the hands of that son of bitch, who would damage him from the inside out?!
You wanted to scream in the faces of everyone that wounded him. Your mind drifts back to the present, and you focus on him curled up in the corner of the couch again.
How could someone beautiful be so heartbreaking? You could drink him in, consume him entirely if you could. Those rich, black curls were like branches of a willow tree, like yggdrasil itself. Devastatingly gorgeous eyes, the color of sapphire oceans that could churn violently when he was in a rage.
But the feel of him was something else. It was a warmth you wished you could coat yourself in, like honey or chocolate fondue. You never wanted to leave it, whether it was simply him wrapping his arms around you while you’d be cooking in the kitchen, to when he was inside you, burying his face into your neck while you two writhed around in his bed.
You quietly make your way over to him, reaching out to softly stroke his hand.
“Hey there, sunshine…”
He doesn’t lift his head, but you see those eyes flicker upward to focus on you. You sigh.
“I’m right here, love. I’m here, it’s okay,” You whisper, lifting his hand to press your lips to every knuckle and scar.
He loosens slightly, and you carefully place your other hand on his back, stroking it. “I know it’s hard, baby. I’m so sorry all those people hurt you, I want to take that away so bad. So bad, baby, so so bad.”
With that being said, he finally breaks. Soft hiccups and sobs make his body shake, and he falls into you. You immediately embrace him, rocking back and forth.
“It hurts, darling.”
“I know, I'm sorry.”
It takes an hour or two for him to finally get it all out, but he never leaves the shelter of your comfort. You’ve moved to the couch then, his head resting on your lap. You had the fond memories of you in his position, and him stroking your hair while you both watched Doctor Who. But for this being the first time you’ve ever switched roles of being the lap cat, you quite liked this, stroking his hair while he had his eyes closed.
You would protect him for all eternity, never allow such torture or hurt be inflicted on him ever again.
You wanted to be with for all eternity. For months, you envisioned your future with him, gold bands on both of your ring fingers. A house filled with memories, and two dark-haired babies which both of you would love unconditionally.
You smiled, the well-known four words that lead to the key of your future together coming to mind.
Okay okay okay I just seen your requests are open and that is flippin sweet, so don't think I am WEIRDDDD or nothing but I always like asking my favorite writers to do my favorite trope!
which is an overly worried Loki taking care of his ill mortal. Like the more ridiculously worried, the happier I am like I just want this man to fret over me for some reason.
And I love how different writers spin it sooooo please spin for me?!
@lokiprompts thank you so much for sending this!! I'm so excited to finally work on this one! I was so upset when it vanished cause you got shadowbanned 🥺🥺
I really really hope you like it!! 💚💚

Loki, I'm Fine
Pairing: Loki x female reader
Warning: being sick (not covid), angst maybe? fluff and Loki worrying
Summary: You and Loki finally get a chance to go on your first vacation as a couple and you couldn't be more excited. A few days before the trip, you start to fell under the weather and of course he notices. You insist repeatedly that you are fine and decide to go ahead with the vacation. As soon as you leave, it becomes very obvious that you are anything but fine and Loki does everything he can to help you feel better.
A/N: the title is a bit of a joke between me and my friends since apparently I don't know what "fine" actually means lol
_______________________________________
"Just three more days," you whisper to yourself as you shut down your computer and get up from your desk, a little too quickly. You've had a headache since you woke up but it would fade for periods of time, returning immediately if you turned your head or stood up. Closing your eyes, you put your hands on your desk and you can feel yourself swaying slightly although you are trying to remain still. You stay like that for a few moments, breathing deeply while your headache slowly passes.
A single knock and the sound of your office door opening cause you to open your eyes quickly and look up. Your headache returns full force and you can't help but groan softly.
"Hello love-" Loki greets you when he enters your office but his smile vanishes and he closes the door behind him. "Are you alright?" he asks, his expression turning to concern.
"I'm fine," you tell him, trying to convince him with a smile.
"Mmhmm," he hums, "You're going to need to try harder if you want me to believe that, Y/N." He walks over to you and puts his hand over yours which you realize is still gripping the desk.
"Its just a headache, Midgardians get them all the time you know," you explain, not looking at him.
Loki takes your hand off the desk and holds it, rubbing the back of your hand with his thumb. He touches your cheek lightly with his other hand and you look up at him but the angle makes you slightly dizzy. You close your eyes involuntarily and you feel Loki move closer to you, "Are you sure? I have a meeting with Stark and Rogers in a few minutes but I can cancel it if you need me."
You smile and say, "Nice try, Mischief but you can't use me as an excuse. I know you hate those meetings."
He laughs a little and shakes his head, "Go up to the apartment and rest, I'll bring you dinner when we've finished." His tone is soft but you know there is no use arguing with him. You agree and he kisses your forehead. "I shouldn't be longer than an hour. I love you," he says.
"I love you too," you respond and he leaves your office.

You sit up, pulled from your restless sleep once again by a coughing fit. You cover your mouth tightly and try to quiet yourself, hoping not to wake Loki.
A moment later you feel his hand on your back, slowly moving up and down. "Y/N?" he asks, sounding half asleep but worried. He turns on his lamp and then with a small green flash, produces a glass of water which he hands to you.
"Thank you," you whisper as you take a few sips. Your coughing stops but your throat feels scratchy and you groan in pain as you swallow.
"Darling, are you sick?" Loki asks and you shake your head. He continues to gently rub your back and tries to get you to look at him.
"I'm fine, it's my allergies," you shrug and continue drinking your water.
"Y/N, you're not fine. You've been coughing all night and I know your headache hasn't gone away," he responds, tucking a piece of hair behind your ear. You look over at him and you can see how concerned he is. "If you're sick we should stay home tomorrow," he suggests.
You look down, playing nervously with the now empty glass. "I don't want to cancel it," you tell him quietly. "Loki, I know how hard it was for you to get the time off and it's our one year anniversary. I don't want to ruin our first vacation. It's just a cough."
"Y/N, look at me," he says softly and you do. He takes the glass from you and it vanishes in a green flash then he takes your hand in his. "You know I've been looking forward to our vacation to Niagara Falls as much as you have darling but tell me, honestly, do you feel well enough to go? I won't be upset if we need to move the trip, I just want to make sure you are alright."
"I'll be fine, I promise," you tell, making sure you smile and he nods.
"Ok love," he says. He kisses you softly and you curl up against his chest. You spend most of the night awake, trying to keep from coughing.
_______________________________________
"Y/N," Loki says softly, "Wake up darling." He touches your shoulder, shaking you lightly and you open your eyes slowly. You sit up in your seat and look around, realizing Loki had parked the car.
"Where are we?" you ask confused then you suddenly lean forward and start coughing. Loki rubs your back gently until you finish and hands you a bottle of water. You don't remember falling asleep, rubbing your eyes you look up at the hotel.
"You slept almost the whole way, I didn't want to wake you since I know you didn't sleep last night," he says, you can hear concern in his voice.
You open your door and as soon as you step out of the car your headache begins to pulse again. You wince and close your eyes tightly, holding your hand to your forehead as you lean on the car.
"Y/N?" Loki asks as he comes around to your side of the car. "Is your headache back or are you dizzy?" You look down, not wanting to tell him both. He puts his arm around your waist to steady you. "Come with me," he says quietly as he guides you towards the main doors of the hotel.
You stand in the hall with one arm wrapped around yourself, your other hand covering your mouth as you start coughing again. Loki unlocks the door and turns on the light as he walks into the room. You follow him and your heart sinks when you look around.
The room is perfect, dark rose petals are spread out on the soft white sheets of the large bed. A bottle of your favorite wine sits on the side table with a bowl of chocolate covered fruit. Lit candles line another table with a bouquet of green and white flowers in a glass vase. You sigh and look at the ground, knowing how much effort Loki had put into this romantic getaway.
"I'm sorry darling, I forgot I asked them to do this when I booked the room," Loki says as waves the petals off the bed and extinguishes the candles with a green flash. "Come, relax. I'll get our luggage from the car," he pulls back the covers and pats the bed lightly.
You walk over, keeping your head down and sit on the edge with your arms weaker around yourself. He sits next to you and you shift away slightly, you feel guilty for letting him down. "Loki, I'm sorry I ruined our trip. Everything looks amazing and now it's all wasted," you say softly, trying to hold back both tears and another coughing fit.
He moves closer to you and puts his arms around you, pulling you towards him. He kisses the top of your head as you rest your head against his chest. He doesn't say anything for a moment then he touches your cheek so you look up at him.
"Y/N," he says, his voice sounding more concerned then earlier, "You feel warmer than usual, do you have a fever?" His hand moves from your cheek to your forehead but you start coughing again. When you finish and catch your breath, he stands and says, "I'll be right back darling."
You nod but you can barely keep your tears back any longer, you feel awful physically and emotionally. You're head is pounding and you cough briefly before putting your face in your hands. The door opens and clicks closed and you begin to cry softly, then you hear Loki walking back towards you. He kneels on the ground in front of you and takes your hands away from your face, holding them in one of his hands.
"Y/N," he cups your cheek gently with his other hand. "Please, listen to me. I'm not upset about our vacation and I don't want you to be either. The only thing I'm worried about now is you. I want to make sure you feel better," he says and you nod again but you still feel terrible. "Try to rest love, I'll be back shortly" he says as he stands up, your eyes follow him. "I love you," Loki tells you then he leans down and kisses you.
"I love you too," you answer quietly. When he closes the door you curl up on the bed, gripping one of the pillows tightly.
_______________________________________
After your coughing fit subsidies you look around the room. The luggage is setup neatly in one corner, there is a bottle of water and a box of tissues on the nightstand next to you. The curtains are drawn so the room is dark but you don't see Loki anywhere. You check your phone, it's been almost two hours since you checked into the hotel.
Sitting up, you drink the water Loki left you and blow your nose until you can almost breathe again. A few minutes later you hear the door unlock and Loki walks in. He closes the door and smiles when he sees you are awake.
"Hi love, you sleep alright?" he asks.
"I think so," you answer. "What is all this?" you ask as you get up from the bed and walk over to him.
He places two plastic bags on the table and begins to unpack the items. "I wasn't quite sure what type of illness you have so..." he says as he opens the second bag. "I called Strange and he said you might need a few things," he explains.
"Wait... you called Stephen?" you can't hide your surprise.
He chuckles and nods, "I actually had to call Thor and talk to him first since I didn't have Strange's number." He touches your cheek lightly then kisses you, "See how much you mean to me?"
You put your arms around his waist and he lets go of the items he is unpacking to hug you tightly. "Thank you," you say.
He runs his fingers through your hair and you look up at him, "Come, let's get you well again."
He finishes unpacking everything and you take a look at what he bought. There are several types of cough drops, cough medicine, soft tissues, Tylenol, boxes of tea, medication for cold, flu and sinus issues, vapor rub and chocolate.
You pick up the chocolate questioningly, he smiles and shrugs, "Stark said it seems to make Pepper feel better so I figured it was worth a shot."
You laugh a little and try not to cough. "You called to Tony too?" you ask him in disbelief.
He takes the chocolate back and shakes his head, hiding a smile. "Apparently my brother told the whole team you were ill. Stark called me while I was at the drug store with a few suggestions but I thought it best to stick with Strange's list."
"Except for the chocolate?" you raise your eyebrow.
"Well you haven't eaten anything all day," he replies matter of factly.
You start say something back but you are interrupted by a coughing fit, harder than the previous ones and his smile disappears immediately. When you finally finish, he asks what you need. "We should start with this," you point to the thermometer and he opens the package for you. Sitting together on the edge of the bed, you both wait for it to give you a reading. A few seconds later it beeps and you sigh, "One hundred."
"That is high isn't it?" he asks and you nod then start coughing again. He gets up and looks around the table, picking up a box of pills and a bottle of cough medicine. He brings them over and puts his arm around you while you read the labels.
"Are they the right ones?" he asks hopefully.
"Yes, you did really good Loki," you tell him and he smiles proudly. "Thank you," you say quietly as you take the pills.
"You don't need to keep thanking me darling, I want to take care of you," he tells you, running his fingers through your hair slowly. "Do you need anything else?"
You think for a second then ask him, "Can we cuddle?"
"Of course," he answers with a smile, "Come here love." The two of you lay back on the bed, his arms wrapped around you as he holds you close to his body.
At first you reach for the thin blanket but you soon kick it off, coughing as you do so. You suddenly feel too warm and you groan quietly as you roll onto your side away from Loki. He moves with you, putting one arm around your waist and the other around your shoulders. His legs tangle with yours and he keeps your back flush to his chest.
"Is this helping love?" he asks as he begins to let go of his illusion and takes on his Jotun form. His blue skin feels cool as he stays wrapped around you and you close your eyes, sighing in relief.
"You're perfect Loki," you whisper and he holds you tighter.
"I love you Y/N," he says as he kisses behind your ear and down your neck lightly. His lips feel cool on your exposed skin.
"I love you too," you reply quietly, feeling yourself becoming closer to falling asleep.
_______________________________________
You sit up coughing an hour later and Loki gently rubs your back until you catch your breath. He touches your cheek and forehead, shaking his head as he gets out of the bed. He picks up the thermometer and offers it to you when he sits back down.
He looks disappointed when it beeps and reveals your fever has gone down but is still not normal. He sits next to you again and puts his cooling hand on your knee.
"I think you should eat darling, you haven't had anything since breakfast," he tells you, you can see the worry in his dark red eyes. You agree and move to get out of the bed. "Stay here, I'll get whatever you would like," he offers, his illusion reappearing when he stands up.
"Soup?" you ask, your voice coming out hoarse from coughing.
He nods, kisses your forehead lightly and says, "Soup coming up, I won't be long. I love you."
You start to tell him you love him but your throat is sore and dry, as soon as you begin to talk you cough again. He hands you the bottle of water you are reaching for, "I know love. Here, just rest."
_______________________________________
"Y/N, are you alright?" Loki asks when he opens the door to the room. "Are you feeling sick again?"
You shake your head and finish zipping closed the last piece of luggage. "I'm fine," you tell him, but you don't look at him.
"I don't understand why Midgardians do that," he says, mostly to himself. "I don't want you to tell me you're fine when I know you are not, darling," he tells you, walking over to where you are now standing. "Y/N, I know you're upset about the trip-" he starts but you interrupt him.
"Of course I'm upset about it... I ruined everything by being sick. We didn't get to see anything or do anything you planned," you tell him. "We couldn't even celebrate our anniversary cause I still had a fever."
Your temperature had finally returned to normal two days after you arrived but your cough lasted another three days. Yesterday you finally started to feel like yourself again but you were still too tired to go out. That night was the first time you had slept through the night since you had first started to feel sick.
"You only had a week off and you wasted it taking care of me," you say, as you walk past him to sit on the bed.
"Wasted it?" he asks almost in shock when he sits next to you. "Y/N," he takes your hand in his. "How could you think that was a waste of my time?"
You shrug, thinking back to all the things Loki had done for you over the last week. "I don't know I guess..." you pause. "I've never been with anyone who looked after me like you did. I mean... you stayed up with me every night when my coughing kept me awake. You went out to get me soup and food at all hours. You made sure I always had water and those soft tissues I like. You kept track of when I took my meds so I never missed a dose." He smiles as you talk, holding your hand in his. "I know you called Stephen a few times when my fever kept coming back," you add and he looks down.
_______________________________________
You squeeze his hand lightly and try to get him to look at you again. "I was worried," he says in a low voice.
You move closer to him, "It was just a bit of the flu Loki."
He nods, "I know... but you've never been sick before. I didn't know what to do and I wanted to make sure I was doing everything I could to help."
"You did everything perfectly, more then I could have asked for Loki," you tell him. "I'm really lucky to have you."
"I'm the lucky one. I love you Y/N," he says.
You put your hand on the back of his neck and pull him towards you to kiss him. When you pull back you smile at him, "I love you too."
Hi! Could I make a Loki request? Reader is a shy little office worker at stark tower, quiet and keeps to herself mostly. She hears the other ladies brag about dating shield agents and catches them all giving her the side eye and making teasing comments because they think she’s single and will always be lonely cause of her shyness. Until she starts receiving flowers and small gifts at her desk at random times. Someone says she sent them to herself trying to put on a show or something for attention. Until one day Loki walks into the office carrying take out and a sunflower (readers favorite). Pulls her up from her chair, kisses her deeply saying ‘happy anniversary’ and takes her out of there for the rest of the day. Now the other office ladies are a little jealous but keep their mouths shut from now on.
Thank you for this one! I absolutely love this idea! I changed a few things slightly, I hope that's ok and I kinda ran with the sunflower thing lol 💚💚💚
Sunflower
Pairing: Loki x female reader
Warnings: people being jerks, mild smut, touch of angst, self doubt a bit, fluff
Summary: You prefer to keep your private life private, being a naturally quiet person, but the growing rumors and rude comments at work have started to make you question if you should just finally tell everyone the truth about you and the God they are all obsessed with...
Word Count: 3.5k words
(Monday morning)
You keep your head down as you get off the elevator and make your way through the office towards your desk. The large, open room is full of chatter, everyone standing around their desks talking about their weekends.
“Um, excuse me,” you stop, your path blocked by the three women who sit closest to you. You can feel them all looking at you but you keep your eyes down, trying to avoid the inevitable conversation that happens every single Monday.
“Oh, good morning Y/N. You're so quiet, we didn’t even see you,” Megan scoffs but none of them move. “So, did you finally do something this weekend that was worth talking about?”
"I'm sure it wasn't as exciting as yours," you answer, trying to get out of the conversation as quickly as possible.
"You're probably right, but tell us anyway," she insists.
"I went to a bookstore, had lunch in the park and the Met had a new exhibit on-" you begin to describe your weekend but are cut off.
“Wow, sounds super fun” Pam interrupts, rolling her eyes while the other two giggle.
You bite your lip and look down again while you tried to think of an excuse to get out of this conversation. All you wanted to do was get to your desk and get on with your work. Why couldn't people just understand that you preferred to be quiet, you disliked talking about your private life especially with people who weren't your friends. There was no reason they needed to know you weren't alone, they never would have believed you anyway so why would you bother, you thought to yourself. They weren’t interested in your life, they only asked so they could tell you how much better they thought their life was.
"Pete and I stayed in the cutest little bed and breakfast in Pennsylvania. It was so romantic," Megan brags. "We're thinking of going to a vineyard next weekend," she adds.
"Oh wow, you'll have to let me know where. Hector and I want to go away for a few days when he gets back from his next mission. He's going to be lead agent so he'll need to relax I'm sure," Pam says but you're barely listening anymore.
"Speaking of relaxing, Mitch and I are going to spend a few weeks in August in Cape Cod. We rented a beach house, you should bring the guys for a weekend, it'll be fun," Lacy tells Megan and Pam. "Oh, I mean I guess you could come too but it's better when your a couple. Being alone would probably be really depressing for you," she adds when she looks over at you.
You shrug but don't respond, you were used to them referring to you as single even though you hadn't been for a long time. When you were first hired at SHIELD, the three of them kept making comments about how sad it was that you were alone and didn't have anyone. They began giving you unsolicited advice, telling you that you were too quiet and withdrawn. They told you that you needed to be more outgoing because no one would ever notice you, especially not a SHIELD agent like their boyfriends. It turned out they were right about the SHIELD agents not being interested in you but didn't care... two months after you were hired, you ran into a God on your day off and you had been his ever since.
“Can I just get to my desk, I have a meeting with Loki and Thor soon about the-,” you start to explain, trying to change the subject which unfortunately works too well.
"Mmm, now that's something fun I'd like to do," she says with a laugh, fanning herself dramatically while the others agree. The conversation quickly shifts to all the things they would let the tall, raven haired God do to them, forgetting completely about their own boyfriends. You stand there quietly as they comment on his long, slender fingers and joke about his nickname, Silvertongue.
"You know, I heard he's dating someone," Pam sighs as she finally makes her way towards her desk.
"What? No I thought that was just a rumor," Lacy sounds almost disappointed and you almost laugh to yourself.
Pam shakes her head, "I think it might be true... I was behind him on line this morning to get coffee and he ordered two different types."
"You're basing this whole thing on a second cup of coffee?" Megan laughs.
"No... I've heard other things too," Pam says but you just sit at your desk quietly while you play with the to-go lid on your coffee cup. They continue to speculate on the mystery of the extra coffee but your mind wanders to the memory of when Loki gave it to you.
(An hour earlier)
You turn the corner and walk past the conference rooms, heading for the smallest one at the far end of the hall, like you have almost every morning for the last six months. You walk past a few agents and analysts, saying good morning as they hurry to their meetings. When you reach the door you are looking for, you knock once and it opens quickly to let you inside.
As soon as the door closes, Loki pushes your back against it with a smirk, his hands instantly settle on your waist. "Good morning sunflower," he says looking down at you.
Loki has more than a few pet names for you but sunflower is by far his favorite and it never fails to make you smile. He began calling you that only a month into your relationship, when he took you to a botanical garden. The two of you spent hours walking through the gardens, looking at all the beautiful trees and flowers, he never let go of your hand once. As you were leaving, Loki offered to buy you flowers and asked which you would like. He couldn't help but laugh when you hung your head in disappointment, telling him sunflowers were your favorite but they didn't have any. He kissed your cheek lightly then waved his hand dramatically, conjuring a small bouquet of sunflowers for you. As he left your apartment that night, he kissed you lovingly and whispered, 'Goodnight sunflower.'
You reach up, putting your arms around his neck, "Good morning Loki."
Standing on your tiptoes, you kiss his lips quickly before putting your feet flat on the floor again. You knew that wasn't nearly enough to appease your favorite God but you were willing to risk it.
Loki raises his eyebrow as he presses his body against yours and says, "Well that certainly won't do."
You stifle a giggle and try to act innocent, "Should I try again?"
He simply nods and you raise yourself on your tiptoes again, he leans down to help close the distance been your lips and his. You ghost your lips over his lower lip, just barely touching him. Loki moves forward to capture your lips fully but you pull back causing him to growl in annoyance.
You bite your lip as Loki shakes his head, his eyes fixed on yours as he towers over you. "Its too early in the morning for these games of yours love," he says, the tone of his voice letting you know he's in control, not you. He brings his lips to yours, kissing you hard as one of his hands slides up to your neck and his other hand grips your hip tighter. You kiss Loki back, opening your mouth to allow his tongue to find yours, instantly abandoning the idea of teasing him further.
"I still think one of your more useful spells is keeping coffee warm," you say, making Loki laugh as he hands you your coffee when its finally time for you both to go to work.
"I love you, Y/N. I will see you tonight," he says as he picks up his coffee and opens the door for you.
"I love you too," you respond before you walk into the hallway and go your separate ways without anyone noticing.
(Monday night)
You sit on the edge of the couch wearing a pair of shorts and one of Loki's t-shirts, holding a throw pillow against your chest as you absent mindedly change the channel again and again. You aren't looking for anything in particular, just noise to drown out the thoughts that have been eating at you most of the day.
"Hi sunflower," Loki says cheerfully as he closes the door to your apartment.
"Hi Loki," you respond, turning off the TV.
He kicks off his shoes and walks over to you, his smile fading quickly. "Darling... what's wrong?" he asks, sitting next to you on the couch.
You shake your head and hold the pillow tighter, trying not to look at him. He rests his hand on your knee and squeezes it lightly. "Y/N, talk to me, please," he urges and you nod as you sit up a bit.
"Are you..." your voice wavers and you try again, "Are you embarrassed to be with me?"
He touches your chin and gently makes you look at him. He looks concerned as he leans closer to you, "Of course not Y/N. What would make you worry about something so ridiculous?"
"Well... I-" you stammer. "There are rumors going around the Tower that you're dating someone," you start to explain.
"I am," he says matter of factly.
"I know but... you know Pam, Lacy and Megan?" you ask and he nods.
"You've told me about them before but I've only met with Pam once a few weeks ago," he answers.
"They are obsessed with you lately," you tell him. "And it was worse today, they spent all day trying to figure out why no one had ever seen or heard anything about your her. Megan told them she figured you must be ashamed of her for some reason, because why else wouldn't you take her to Tony’s parties. Lacy and Pam joined in of course and they kept coming with more and more reasons why you would hide who you were with... I don't know it was just hard to listen to that for hours I guess."
"Y/N, I would never hide you," he says softly, stroking your cheek with his thumb. "Do you know what I did right after our first date?" he asks you and you shake your head no. "I went straight to Thor’s room and told him I had met the most amazing woman in the nine realms," Loki says.
"I didn't know that," you smile, you knew Thor was aware you were together but you had no idea Loki had told him from the beginning.
He chuckles, "He made fun of me a bit for it actually but I didn't care. I know it may seem like I am keeping you a secret, but the moment I met you, I told the only person who has ever had a vague interest in my life about you." You laugh a little, picturing Loki gossiping to Thor but it makes you feel so loved to know he couldn't wait to tell his brother he had met you.
"And you know, I don't take you to Stark’s parties because I don't even want to go. My favorite part of those nights has always been when I can slip out unnoticed and come here," he says and you nod knowing what he's telling you is true, not what your coworkers guessed.
"I'm sorry I let them all get to me today," your smile fades a bit and you feel guilty for doubting him.
"I hate that they made you feel like this," he says, kissing your forehead when you lean on him. He puts his arm around you and asks, "Do you still want to keep this separate from work or do you want to tell them? I will do whatever makes you feel more comfortable, sunflower." You start to nod but then shake your head and then shrug as you pull the pillow up to your face.
"I don't have any idea what that means," he chuckles as he takes the pillow away from you. "Would you like to try again?"
"I want people to know about us," you tell him and he smiles. "Maybe then they will stop thirsting over you," you mumble and he looks at you questioningly.
"I.... well, ok I told them I had a meeting with you and Thor this morning and the whole conversation suddenly turned. They were all talking about how hot you are and the kinds of things they would let you do to them. Pam even joked it was such a long list, they should write it down and I just..." you trail off for a moment. "I got jealous? Does that make sense, I'm not sure how to explain it," you say more as a question than a statement.
Loki laughs lightly and you pick up the pillow from his lap, hitting him in the chest with it. "Its not funny," you pout and cross your arms.
"It is a little," he says, taking the pillow back and throwing it on the floor this time. He puts his hands on your waist and lifts you so you are sitting on his lap facing him. He keeps one hand around your waist and your hands settle on his back, gripping the fabric of his shirt lightly. Loki plays with the ends of your hair and looks into your eyes, slowly moving his face closer to yours.
"Y/N, they can talk all they want about me but I'm yours and no one else's. I love you," he says and you move forward, pressing your lips to his.
"I love you, Loki," you tell him, resting your head on his shoulder as he rubs your back lightly.
You sit in silence for a moment then Loki says, "I like the idea of them all knowing you're mine."
(Tuesday through Thursday)
Tuesday morning, you settle into your desk and notice a small emerald green box on top of your papers. Loki was always bringing you little gifts or flowers when you were on dates or at your apartment but you had never gotten a gift while at work before. You open the box and smile to yourself as you hold the 3 inch tall crystal sunflower carefully in your hand. Its beautiful, you can't wait to tell him how much you love it when you see him later tonight.
After a late afternoon meeting on Wednesday, you find a second green box on your desk and it is slightly larger. You pick up the box and as you start to open it, you notice Pam watching you over her shoulder. You ignore her staring, too excited to see what else Loki sent you. You giggle when you realize it is another sunflower gift, this time is a white picture frame and behind the glass is a handcrafted sunflower flower. You lean the frame against the wall of your cubicle and move the crystal flower next to it, suddenly aware that all three of your coworkers are watching you.
The next morning there is yet another green box waiting for you, it's larger still and sitting on your chair. You pull out your chair and sit down, placing the box on your desk as you feel Megan, Pam and Lacy coming up from behind you.
"Another gift?" Megan asks and you nod.
"I can't believe it, looks like you have a secret admirer, Y/N," Lacy says sarcastically.
"Seems like it," you smile at the adorably fuzzy teddy bear that was in the box. You sit him up on your desk and adjust the tall, fake sunflower he is holding. When Loki picks a theme he really sticks with it, you think to yourself.
"What's with all the sunflowers?" Pam asks.
You don't let her judgemental tone bother you, instead you answer her with a smile, "He must know they're my favorite."
You can hear the three of them whispering at various times throughout the day and you are only able to catch small pieces. From what you were able to hear, it seems they had decided the gifts couldn't possibly be from a mystery man.
"She has to be sending them to herself," Pam whispers and the others agree.
"Of course she is, who would be interested in her?" Megan responds. "I mean really, three gifts in two days is a little much."
"I think it's sad," Lacy adds.
When you return from having lunch with Loki you find yet another gift. You look at the long, thin box and wonder briefly how he keeps putting all of these presents on your desk without being seen but shake your head when you remember he's a trickster God who can do magic. Before you can open the present, your computer chimes to remind you of an upcoming meeting. You place the box in your top drawer and leave the office, walking past Megan, Lacy and Pam.
You walk back into the office and hour later and see the three of them standing around your desk and whispering to each other. "Can I help you with something?" you ask when you get closer. They all move back from your desk and you see another, very small green box resting on your keyboard.
"We were just curious to see what the mystery man sent you this time," Megan says as she leans on the wall of your cubicle.
"Oh, he sent me two things actually," you inform her as you take the slim box out of the drawer. Her smug smile fades a bit, it's easy to tell by the shape of the boxes that they both most likely contain jewelry. You open the thin box first and pick up the long gold chain, laying down the sunflower charm in your palm. You pick up the second box and make a point to hold it so the can see the small sunflower ring inside.
You look up briefly and see Megan rolling her eyes. The fact that they still think you are sending yourself these presents means tomorrow will be even more shocking for them and you can't wait.
(Friday afternoon)
"No presents today?" Megan remarks around noon.
"Oh, I should be getting one more. He's bringing it here himself though," you answer her.
"What do you mean?" Lacy asks.
"Don't worry, he'll be here soon," you tell them, checking the time.
"Oh my god..." Pam turns towards the door, her mouth hanging open.
"What?" Megan and Lacy both ask. You turn to look too, you can't wait to see him. Loki and you had taken a half day, you were both excited to start your weekend early.
Loki stands by the door, looking around the office until he finally spots you and a smile spreads across his lips. He's wearing black pants and a tightly fitted black dress shirt, the first few buttons of the collar are open and his sleeves are rolled to his elbows. In one hand he has a bouquet of sunflowers and a large paper bag in his other hand. He makes his way towards you, seemingly unaware of the whispers spreading from one coworker to the other as they try to figure out why the God of Mischief is so focused on you.
You stand up just as Loki reaches your desk and you can feel Pam, Lacy and Megan staring at you but you don't care. Loki places the flowers and the paper bag on your desk without taking his eyes off of you. He puts one hand on your back and pulls your body to his, you giggle and look up at him as his other hand caresses your check softly.
"Happy anniversary, sunflower," he says with a warm smile. He leans down and gently brings your lips to his as he kisses you deeply. You close your eyes as you kiss him back, your hands wrap around his waist, lightly gripping the smooth fabric of his shirt. When you break the kiss to breathe, he rests his forehead against yours and runs his thumb over your lower lip lightly. "Gods, I can't believe it's been a year already. How did I ever get so lucky?" Loki asks and you hear an audible gasp from Lacy and Pam drops her pen.
You laugh, "I think we both got lucky."
He doesn't let go of you, looking at the paper bag then back at you, "I picked up your favorite. How do you feel about eating in the park, that spot by the pond?"
You smile wide and reach up to kiss him again, "I think that sounds amazing."
The two of you walk towards the door, his arm wrapped tightly around your waist while you hold your flowers. You can feel everyone in the office watching you leave and you laugh a bit to yourself. You look up at Loki as you reach the door and he winks at you.
"Think they are shocked now, just wait until they find out I plan on asking you to move in with me," he says just loud enough for them to hear him.
Summary: You are not just a soldier in Asgard's Royal Army, you are Lieutenant Y/L/N, Prince Loki's personal guard, his sentry and you are not supposed to fall in love with him. If you followed your training properly, you should never have even spoken to him. As a sentry, you are expected to remain silent and invisible as you shadow your appointed member of the royal family or member of the court protectively throughout their daily tasks.
Rumors (that happen to be true) begin to circulate through the palace that you serve the younger prince of Asgard both outside and inside his chambers. There is little you can do once word of your off duty activities spread through every maid, cook, gardener and seamstress in the palace. You soon find even the soldiers in your own company are now questioning how exactly you had come to earn your seemingly quick rise to lieutenant.
As the annual Winter Solstice Ball approaches, you come to the heartbreaking realization that your relationship with Loki must come to an end if you are both to fulfill your duties.
Warnings: Angst, arguing, Thor being an absolute ass, Odin being a terrible father
A/N: I did some googling quickly for military terms and ranks (since I have no previous knowledge of them) as well as some basic information about the royal guards in England. I took some of what I found interesting and then made up most of the rest to fit what I needed for my story so there will be some similarities. Also... I haven't written anything in like a year (maybe longer) so be nice please 💚💚
You stand at constant attention in silence outside of Prince Loki's private office. You listen to the birds singing through the open window across the hall from where you are posted and wonder how long you could go without making a sound. You have been trained by the Royal Army for years to remain silent, vigilant, always listening and watching your surroundings for anything dangerous or out of the ordinary. You are always on guard, ready to protect Prince Loki should the need arise. Not that someone with his fighting skills or magic would need protection from a simple soldier like you. You were assigned this post purely because it was customary for each member of the royal family to have a sentry, whether they actually need one or not.
Your attention is drawn to the sound of footsteps approaching from your left. You are unable to determine how many people are coming but judging by their pace and heavy boots, they are most likely all soldiers. Commandant Thorn, the soldier in charge of your company, makes his way down the hall at a steady pace. He is followed by your captain, Captain Skye who is holding a leather bound book containing the names of all the sentries and their current posts. Trailing the two older men, are four low ranking soldiers you can't remember the names of.
The group of soldiers comes to a stop in front of you and your fellow guard and you both salute your commanding officers. "Lieutenant Y/L/N," Captain Skye says, opening his book for a moment. He closes it and looks up at you, "Prince Loki will of course be attending the Winter Solstice Ball. You will be required to escort him to the ballroom and remain on guard there until he dismisses you for the evening."
You nod in response, carefully hiding the heavy emotions you have surrounding the upcoming ball. The soldiers move on and you are left alone with the other guard again. She says nothing to you and even if you were allowed to speak, you know Sergeant Sands wouldn't talk to you. She is not your friend, none of the members of the Royal Guard are your friends. It wasn't always this way though, it is only since you were promoted to the rank of lieutenant that the guards you work with began to distance themselves from you.
You had been assigned to Prince Loki for three months when you were promoted from sergeant to lieutenant. Your fellow soldiers immediately assumed the young prince had a hand in it as he did little to hide how he favored you over the other guards who were previously assigned to him. The rumors about you spending the night in Loki's chamber instead of guarding it flowed through the palace soon after. You adamantly denied these rumors and any favoritism from the prince but it was a wasted effort. It also happened that the rumors were true to a point.
The door to Loki's office opens and you stand at attention as the court accountant exits, holding several rolls of paper and mumbling to himself. Sargeant Sands follows him without any orders needed, she is his sentry and will go where he goes. As she walks past by, she glances at you with what can only be described as a look of disgust. You look down at your boots, fully aware of what she is thinking.
You wait quietly for Loki to open the door again but you know him, he will want to read through all of his notes from today before he finalizes his meeting schedule for tomorrow. You have roughly half an hour until he will be done, half an hour to stand here and think about the dreaded Winter Solstice Ball.
Another half an hour later, as expected, Loki opens the door and walks out. Waving his hand towards the door, he uses his magic to seal the room. He smiles warmly at you and you smile back at him for the first time today. This was your favorite part, the part where the sun goes down and Loki frees you from your constant silence.
He touches your cheek softly and leans in to kiss you. You kiss him back but pull away quickly as you hear footsteps approaching. You step away from Loki and stand at attention as Prince Thor comes around a corner. You keep your eyes straight ahead but you can feel Loki stiffening next to you, he and his brother get along much better when they are at court than they do in private.
The brothers greet each other politely and you silently wish the older prince would simply continue on his way but it doesn't seem likely. Your attention shifts to the window across the hall from you again, you can just barely glimpse the sunset over the tall evergreen trees in the distance. You know Loki will tell you if he and Thor discuss anything interesting so there is no need for you to listen to their conversation. The two of them continue for several long minutes before you realize Thor has said something to you.
"Lieutenant Y/L/N?" Thor says and you shake your head as you shift your focus.
"I'm sorry your highness, I was unaware you were speaking to me," you apologize. He had never spoken to you before and you were unsure why he would start now. Loki folds his arms across his chest and you feel uneasy at how annoyed he seems.
Thor laughs which does nothing to make you feel better. "I was wondering what it was about you that made you my brother's favorite," he says. "You must truly be special, a sentry's post typically only lasts three months, perhaps six at the most. You have been with Loki for how long now?"
You think for a moment before replying. You had been assigned to Loki for only a month before he first spoke to you and you had quickly become close friends. Three months after becoming friends with the prince, you slowly became more until you were completely in love with him.
"Fourteen months," you answer him in as few words as possible.
Thor looks at his younger brother with a smirk, "Fourteen?" Loki remains silent and you can tell his older brother is not even close to letting you leave soon. He turns his attention to you again, "So is it true then?"
"Is what true your highness?" you ask quietly.
"That you follow my brother's orders when you are wearing your armor and when you are not?" he laughs and his sentry smiles then looks towards the ground. "I could use a sentry like that, I grow tired of being followed by these shadows."
Loki's fist clenches but he answers Thor calmly. "Maybe if you learned your sentries name and weren't so insufferable to be around, they would remain at your service for longer than a month at a time," Loki says. "And you are the last person I would expect to listen to palace rumors. According to the most recent ones I've heard, you've slept with nearly half of the kitchen staff this month alone."
Thor smiles, proud of himself. You and Loki realize the stories you had overheard were true, if not understated. He explains, "That is why I assume the rumors of you and your little pet are true as well."
You find yourself in that brief moment wishing Loki would confirm everyone's suspensions. Not necessarily that you were sleeping together, that you were in love and wanted to be together. You know wishing for this is as useful as wishing it would rain gold. Once again you remind yourself that this is the way it will always be, until he marries a woman of high status and you are forgotten.
Instead of responding, Loki turns from his brother and walks down the hall towards the stairwell that leads to the royal family's chambers. You follow him silently, staying a few steps behind as always.
"Come now brother, I was merely joking," Thor calls from behind you but neither of you stop walking.
The two of you continue on in silence until you reach the top of the stairs and Loki's pace slows so he is walking next to you. His hand finds yours, his thumb gently stroking your knuckles. As soon as you feel his touch, you begin to relax.
"I'm sorry about my brother," he says quietly.
"His behavior isn't your fault," you reply. "And he is far from the first person to corner me about our relationship. I am used to denying the truth."
He stops, causing you to turn back towards him, your hand still holding his. He then takes a few small steps, closing the distance between you. Loki touches your cheek gently with his other hand. "I'm sorry Y/N," he tells you again. "I wish we didn't have to hide but you know there are some rules even I cannot break so openly. Maybe I should have hid my favoritism towards you better but I couldn't bear to have you reassigned. You mean too much to me."
You smile, "So I am your favorite sentry?"
He lets out a laugh, "You are my favorite person in the nine realms." You giggle at his answer and his fingers trail down your cheek until his thumb gently runs across your lips. He leans down to kiss you but just as his lips touch yours, you feel your heart jumps in your chest.
You hear several sets of footsteps and separate yourself from Loki in an instant. He looks down the hall as his mother, two of her maids and one guard come into view. She smiles brightly at both of you as she comes closer and you bow to the queen in respect. You find it hard to miss the side eye from her sentry or the whispers shared between her maids. Loki gives his mother a hug and wishes her a goodnight. She tells him to have a goodnight as well and continues on her way.
You and Loki walk off in the opposite direction towards his chambers and once you are alone again, Loki moves to take your hand but you flinch away. He looks hurt by your momentary rejection but he doesn't say anything. He knows how nervous you are about being seen touching him or speaking to him. You round the next corner and are flooded with relief as Loki's door finally comes into view. You fight the urge to smile, holding onto your composure as you've been trained.
Loki opens the door and steps inside, you follow him as you always do and he closes the door. He flicks his wrists towards you without a word and the heavy armor you wear over your clothing instantly settles itself neatly into a large chest. You take a few deep breaths, feeling as if most of the weight you have been carrying leaves you, but not all.
"Thank you your highness," you say out of habit.
"Please, never call me that in here," he reminds you gently. "In here I'm not a prince, I'm just Loki." He walks towards you and you don't realize you are moving away from him until your back hits the door and his body comes flush to yours. One hand settles on your hip while his other hand lifts your chin, causing you to look up at him. He continues, "And you are not Lieutenant Y/L/N, you are Y/N. The woman I am so deeply in love with." He smiles and you can't help but smile back at his words. All your worries vanish the instant his lips meet yours.
You lay in Loki's arms watching the sunlight fill his room through the sheer curtains. You try to memorize the sound of his slow, steady breathing and the feel of his heart beat against your back as he holds you even in his sleep. You inhale deeply and focus on deciphering every herb and oil Loki uses to keep his hair soft. Closing your eyes, you use your senses to bring an image of Loki's face into your mind and try to hold it there.
"What are you thinking about my love?" he asks in a sleepy voice. You open your eyes and shift closer to him, pulling his arms tighter around your body. "Y/N, what's wrong?" he asks, now much more awake.
You swallow hard, trying to find the words. You had been thinking about what you needed to do most of the night but now that it was time, you weren't sure you would be able to do it.
"I've told you, you can speak freely here," he says softly, urging you gently as always to speak your mind when you were with him. His fingers move slowly up and down your arm as he tries to comfort you without knowing what is causing your distress.
"I need to transfer to a new post," you tell him. You hear him inhale sharply as his fingers suddenly go still.
You stand outside Loki's office with Thor's new guard and two others in silence waiting for a very long meeting to conclude. You stifle a yawn and shift uncomfortably on your feet before regaining your composure. The tall guard standing across from you rolls his eyes while the woman next to him mumbles something that can only be about you.
It has been two days since you told Loki you wanted to transfer and you hadn't heard anything from your commanding officer. In the meantime, you decided to go back to sleeping in your assigned room at the soldiers quarters. You had forgotten how much you hated it there. The common areas are loud and there is little privacy, everyone is in everyone else's business. You barely leave your room, which is a surprise to no one. They wouldn't speak to you even if you did. You live in a world of utter silence surrounded by never ending noise.
You feel as if you are shattering from the inside out and you try to remind yourself that it needs to be this way. The two of you hid in his chambers as if it protected your relationship but it could never be real. How could it be when he could barely acknowledge your presence when in public. He is a prince and you are a soldier as were your parents, you were not high born. Loki is destined to marry the daughter of a council member and you will guard them and their children.
The door to Loki's office opens, you and the three guards stand at attention. Prince Thor walks out first, followed by two council members. They walk off in different directions, shadowed closely by their sentries but you remain, as always, at Loki's door.
You stare at the wall in front of you for what feels like eternity. Your mind wanders between your favorite memories from your brief time with Loki and the crushing weight of your current reality. You stand up straighter when you hear the door swing open and Loki steps out.
"Lieutenant Y/L/N," he says, "I need to speak with you."
You nod and follow him into his office, closing the door behind you. You stand motionless, taking in his office and how much it feels like him. The dark wood bookshelves crowded with leather bound books, the chair pulled close to the window so he can see the garden below when drinking his afternoon tea, the green and gold accents on various pieces of furniture.
You sigh to yourself as you follow him to his desk. He takes a seat and you stand across from him with your arms behind your back, waiting for him to speak first.
"Y/N," he says informally but you don't relax. "Your transfer to a new post was not approved."
"Can I ask why your highness?" you keep the formalities as you've been trained.
"The Winter Solstice Ball is in less then a week," he answers as if you could forget. "The Royal Guard seems to be too busy tightening security and preparing for everyone's arrival to complete your paper work at this time."
"Understood, your highness," you say. "I should return to my post." You turn to head back outside of his office.
"Wait," he calls and you freeze just before you reach the door. You hear him get up from his seat and walk around the desk. "Please stay, talk to me Y/N. I miss you so much it hurts."
"I can't," you say almost in a whisper
He touches your arm and you turn to face him, seeing the pain in his eyes. "I miss the way your laughter filled my chambers. I miss hearing you hum to yourself when you think I can't hear you. I miss the sound of your voice and how easy it is to talk to you," he says and you force down a smile and the urge to hold him tightly.
"I can't bear to be without you," he tells you and you want to tell him you can't be apart from him either but you remain silent for fear you'll lose your resolve completely. He strokes your cheek gently and you close your eyes as you lean into his touch. "I love you," he says.
"I love you too," you tell him, seeing a spark of hope light his eyes. You shake your head and take a step away from him, "But I can't do this. I'm sorry." Before he can say anything else you tell him, "It will only hurt more the longer we wait to end this."
"We don't have to end this, now or ever," he insists as he steps towards you. "I promise I will find a way for you to be mine, not just when we are hidden away, but always. You believe me, don't you?"
"I want to," you tell him truthfully. Loki had promised several times to find a way to marry you but you thought it was false hope. "But this isn't a fairytale my prince, we don't always get a happy ending."
You want to disappear into the marble floor, to be sucked into the wall behind you or simply vanish into thin air but you can't. Instead, you must stand perfectly still and silent as you watch the dancing and merriment around you. You momentarily wish you would go back to a time when you didn't feel an ache in your chest at the mere thought of another woman being in Prince Loki's arms. Shaking your head just slightly, you chase away the thought. As much as this hurts, you will always cherish the limited time you shared with him.
The music changes tempo as the first of seven courses comes to an end. Couples begin to take to the open floor in the center of the ballroom. Prince Thor and Prince Loki make their way to the group of single, eligible women awaiting them, each at a different pace. The older prince seems to now exactly which woman he would like to spend time with first. He offers his arm to her and declares her the most beautiful woman at the ball, causing her to blush and giggle. The younger prince takes his time walking to the crowd and simply takes the hand of the closest woman without so much as glancing at her. His lack of interest does little to dampen her excitement however.
The dozen or so women who were not chosen move away from the dance area and you have to hold back a groan as they gather directly in front of you to wait for a chance with one of the princes. You can't help but listen to them discuss which prince they think is better looking or who they would prefer picked them. The first song ends and the two princes each select another dance partner. Again, Prince Thor takes little time deciding who he wants while Prince Loki simply offers his hand to the first woman he sees. You can practically hear him sigh as she holds his arm and walks quickly to the dance floor.
As the second song begins, one of the women briefly looks at you over her shoulder before motioning towards you to her friends. Your ears go red with embarrassment as she tells them the rumors of your past relationship with Loki just loud enough that she knows you will hear. Of course she gets the ending wrong. She assumes, like everyone else, that the prince grew tired of you and banished you from his bed chambers. You had to admit, it seemed a far more likely story than the truth.
You shift your attention to the ceiling for a moment, hoping that counting the candles in the chandeliers will distract you from their stares and comments. You only count to twenty seven before the sound of a glass shattering draws your gaze back to the guests. A council member laughs loudly, clearly drunk already, as a servant cleans the wine glass from the dance floor.
Your eyes scan the room and easily find Loki at the center of the crowd, a third woman in his arms. Your drawn to his face, studying his features. He smiles at the woman as he twirls her and she giggles but she doesn't know him like you do. She doesn't know that's the smile he uses at court, not the smile he shows you. Showed you, you correct yourself. He glances away, not holding eye contact with her as they move effortlessly across the dance floor.
After the final course is served, the dance floor fills for the last time and you sigh with relief that the night is almost over. You shift on your feet, looking down for a moment when the chatter of the women in front of you begins again. Why must they stand here to wait, you think to yourself.
The princes once again make their way to their potential dance partners and Thor makes his pick quickly. Loki stands in front of the women for a moment and your eyes lock with his as he looks between them.
"Pardon me," he says politely to the crowd as he moves forward, slipping past the confused women. He makes his way towards you and your breath catches in your throat. He stands in front of you and holds out his hand. You look at him, stunned by his actions. He smiles when you don't move, "Will you dance with me, my love?" Still you remain silent, looking past Loki to see how much attention his actions have drawn. "Don't look at them," he says, touching your cheek softly as you look at him again.
You steady your nerves and place your hand in his. The moment his fingers close around yours, you are surrounded by a light cloud of green, shimmery smoke. When Loki's magic fades, you are wearing a flowing emerald green gown with golden trim, perfectly matching his dress uniform. Your hair has been restyled to hold a small gold tiara with short horns, mirroring the helmet he had worn during his entrance.
"Gods, you look gorgeous in my colors," he says with a wide smile, causing you to blush. "To be fair, you are always beautiful but now it is clear to everyone here that you are mine." You feel as if your heart might burst when he calls you his, he had said it before but only when you were hidden away.
Loki keeps his fingers interlaced with yours as he leads you to the dance floor, straight through the group of now very angry women. Some cross their arms, others give you dirty looks and several make rude comments as you pass. You pause before stepping onto the dance floor, the chatter and stares coming from the guests near you holding you back. He senses your hesitation and leans down to place a kiss gently on your cheek.
Your mind can barely begin to process what is happening as he takes you straight to the middle of the dance floor. He places one hand on your hip and you place your hand on his shoulder as you had done so many times over the last few months. You and Loki shared several secret dances in his chambers and his office, he found it difficult to listen to music sitting still.
He holds you close, his eyes never leaving yours while you dance between the other guests. You focus on how amazing it feels to be back in his arms, ignoring the strange looks and whispers that surround you. He twirls you gracefully and you spin back into him, giggling as you final feel at ease. As the song draws to a close, Loki spins you one final time. When he pulls you back to him, he leans down slightly and your lips meet his.
You smile up at him, hoping this isn't a dream when you see his mother approaching you. You take a step away from Loki but he keeps his hand on your waist, not letting you go too far. You bow to the queen and she says, "I think it is my turn to dance with my son."
You nod quickly in agreement and Loki let's go of you, his magic fading instantly as your armor reappears. You walk through the crowd with your head down and return to your post, once again wishing you were invisible. The women watch you, gossiping wildly as you pass again. You can only imagine what they are saying but they are not your biggest concern at the moment.
Anxiously, you watch Queen Frigga and her son move across the dance floor. You can't hear what they are saying of course, but you can tell by her expression that there will be consequences for his actions. As the song ends you see your captain approach you and your stomach drops. Loki will not be the only one to be punished for choosing you.
"The king had summoned you to the throne room," he says in a stern voice. You nod in acknowledgement and when you look back towards the dance floor, Loki and his mother are gone.
I'm almost done with the second part so please let me know if you would like to be tagged! I hope you liked it and if you did, please like, share and comment 💚💚
Rating: *WARNING* mentions of depression, and $u*cidal thoughts
“You have to eat.’’
Loki’s eyes didn’t even flicker up at you as his fork mindlessly moved around his food. You knew he heard you as you sit across from him with your own plate, but he continues to not further the subject.
It was a delicate time.. his mood swings per say..
You knew he already felt bad for not eating the food you worked decently hard on to make, which didn’t help the already current state he has found himself in for the past several days of worsening depression. At least he had you as a support system and both of you moving into your own apartment has definitely helped since living with “earth’s mightiest heroes” has done a number on his mood already. Yet you worry..
The battle on New York is over, and due to a ton of begging from Thor to let Loki stay under house arrest at the tower to avoid severe Asgardian punishment- death, the Avenger’s obliged with only a few times of “community service” in the field in which special bracelets were made to contain a bit of his magic when it’s needed to be used. He was a really great help and his magic made most of our fights against hydra and a ton of others definitely shorter. You and him even got some one on one sparring sessions and mini missions and low and behold, decided to start going out.. from limited means since he still was under watch.
its was years now, SHIELD still has him wear the bracelets that he currently likes to pull at periodically without even realizing it sometimes. With begging on your part, you lived in this cute apartment not to far away from the Avenger’s tower, and with doing your best with the limited means, you both have been happy. Yet recently his mood has changed. Sometimes he doesn’t wish to get out of bed, even if he was wide awake. Sometimes the smallest things could set him off where he would either yell or accidently break something with his god strength- forgetting Midgardian furniture isn’t built like it is in Asgard. And quite recently, he’s refused to eat a whole meal and now he hardly eats at all.
Being a god, he can go far longer than humans.. but with the amount of time that’s passed, you were sure it was concerning even for someone like him to go on this long with only like two bites and then he was finished.. he was scaring you, you worried for him and whether he realized it or not, you had to prep the house encase any.. initial thoughts would come along..
Getting Thor involved was out of the question, he hated anyone that was related to the new York battle- which happened to be all of your friends but to hang out with them, you were to scared to leave Loki alone so it really put a damper on your mood as well. The apartment was mostly quiet, worrying what would be said or done to set off either of you but sometimes it was just the fact knowing you both were around each other- verbal or not, was comforting.
Yet this eating thing has gone far enough and your already lean boyfriend was becoming noticeably more lean as time went by.
Setting down your fork, you slowly rose and crossed over to pull the seat out next to Loki to have a seat- his eyes barely resisting your movements as he continued to move around his vegetables.
After a moment of silence, you gently placed a hand on his and he stopped moving, the fork slowly sliding from his fingers.
‘’Loki..’’ you began, your voice quiet as your eyes glued to his face with a gentle expression.
The only response he gave you was a small nod- one would miss it if they weren’t paying attention.
‘’I know there are a lot of things on your mind, a lot of thoughts that are sparking new ones, ideas and assumptions. It’s been a few days since you’ve had a proper amount of food, and that’s okay’’ you add and squeeze his hand a little as he gave a small sigh.
‘’what can I do to help? Even if it’s just an ear if you wish to talk things out out loud..’’
Loki stayed silent for a moment, staring mindlessly at his plate but no focus in his gaze. As if someone was forever zoned out and his hand was limp when you held it. his skin was cold- colder actually. You didn’t rush him, you just waited as your thumb gently stroked his skin, staring at his beautiful face you loved so much and stayed quiet as you focused on his slow breathing.
Parting his lips slowly, he sighed another hopeless sigh we’ve all had when there was no point to anything. Where we have been at our lowest and wanted to quit whatever we were doing right then and there. Happiness was dead at this time and light was no option in this type of tunnel we found ourself lost in.
‘’I’m a failure..’’ he barely whispered, his words breaking your heart as tears formed in his eyes once more.
‘’Loki you’re not a-‘’
‘’my whole life is a lie.. it would have been better if I would have just perished as an infant on Jotunheim and all this wouldn’t have happened’’ he said between sobs, his hands forming fists on the table in which you had to quickly pull your hand away but instead rested it on top.
He has found himself comfortable in your relationship to tell you about his upbringing, the betrayal, the lies, Odin, all of it. but he’s always spoke out of hatred.. this was the firs time he’s actually shown sorrow upon the subject. It broke your heart seeing him like this, and you knew you were important to him in your life where he’ll need you more than ever in these moments. You will not abandon him.
You slowly rose from your chair and went to his own, bringing his head to your chest as you wrapped your arms around him, his face turning slightly to continue to cry into your chest while you stroked his silky hair.
‘’Loki.. I can’t tell you how much it pains me and angers me of what has happened to you, you deserved none of it and you did everything to the best of your abilities to make things right with the best intentions. Not everyone will be able to see the reason, it doesn’t mean what you did was wrong..’’ you kept the part of murder out, figuring it wasn’t the best time to revisit that topic as you spoke slowly and in a hushed tone as his sobs began to quiet.
‘’if people fail to see your good intentions and continue to be selfish, hypocritical and blind to their own actions, then- blood or not- are they really worth having in your life..’’
‘’I don’t.. want to be alone..’’ he whispered as his arms hold you closer to him, almost making you fall into his lap as you hold him tighter.
‘’you’re never alone Loki, I’m here and I’ll never leave you.’’ you whisper and pull away a little to be able to cup his cheeks and have him look at you, your thumbs wiping away his tears as your expression becomes serious.
Memories of two weeks ago poked at your mind, how you almost lost him once if you hadn’t gotten to him in time. the fear always hits your heart whenever you saw him like this, afraid he may do it again. It just meant he needs you more than ever and with the right guidance. It just takes time.
‘’sometimes what you’re thinking..’’ you didn’t have the heart to say it as tears pricked your eyes but you took a deep breath. ‘’sometimes that seems like it’s the easiest answer.. but it’s a permanent solution to a temporary problem.’’ You whisper, bending down a little to kiss him, his lips kissing you back with almost a desperate, eagerness.. as if he hasn’t seen you in ages.
You shared this moment, stroking his hair and back before pulling away, seeing how his tears had subsided though he still looked drained. Sitting in his lap now, you picked up his fork and brought it to his lips.
‘’how about.. if you could finish just a few bites, we could go to bed and just hold each other?’’
Loki’s eyes slowly looked at the food, showing no interest in it but looked back into your eyes at what he could have if he did. A small smile- a mischievous one just barely tugged at his lips as he sighed. ‘’just hold each other?’’
You couldn’t help but smile, a bit of his old self peaking out of his depressed state. It’s a start. ‘’we’ll see.’’ You tease and brought the fork forward.
Hear me out
I was falling asleep and suddenly thought about this -
Completely unrelated with anything/anyone. It is just like that, ok.
So I just drew it 😂
Loki’s naked body is warm and wonderfully solid on top of you. He’s all firm lines and defined muscles, and the heavy weight of him settled between your parted thighs surpasses anything you’ve concocted in your many daydreams.
It’s anyone's guess how you both got here; you can’t remember no matter how hard you try. One moment you were drunkenly sashaying away from him at the end of the Grandmaster’s soiree, and the next you’re lying naked in his bed, tangled between cobalt blue sheets while the ridiculous gown you’ve had to wear is no more than a discarded fuschia puddle on the floor.
Next to it, although you have no recollection of removing it, is the deep blue leather that had hugged Loki’s body so perfectly all evening.
Although, you’re pleased to learn that what that leather has concealed from you is equally - if not more - exquisite.
Your fingers grip the shoulders of the last man you ever expected to be underneath, running greedily over the hard muscles that flex and jump each time he presses his warm lips to your skin. Loki is kissing a slow, lazy trail from your stomach over the swell of your breasts, taking care to worship each one with his mouth until you arch in a perfect bow off the bed in search of more.
“Please, more,” you breathe out on a moan, dropping a heavy hand to tangle in his hair and coax him forwards.
He hums softly against your breast, then sinks his teeth into a nipple and makes you yelp. “Are you finally giving in?” He asks, swirling his tongue soothingly over the affected area.
You groan shamelessly at the sweet torture he’s subjecting you to while digging your heels deeper into his perfect ass. “Fuck! Yes, Loki!”
An elegant finger and thumb continue to twist and pull at a nipple, but Loki’s sinful mouth is now at your neck, kissing and sucking a patchwork of pretty purple bruises into your skin.
You welcome each one with relish.
“I want to hear you say it,” he purrs, licking a slow line along the column of your neck until he reaches your ear.
When his teeth sink into the flesh of your earlobe and tug, you feel a molten swell of heat pulse between your shaking thighs.
“I give in! I yield! Please, just…just fuck me, Loki. I can’t stand it any longer!’ you babble out. Yggdrasil knows you’d say whatever he wanted if it meant he’d fuck you.
His warm breath hits your ear as he laughs softly. “It’s me that you want, isn’t it? Me who fills all those filthy thoughts in your head. Tell me I’m wrong, Princess.”
You couldn’t even if you tried. Desire for this man is spilling from your every pore and burning through your blood. You can’t remember ever wanting someone so desperately, not even Scrapper - or Val as she told you to call her - when she made you…
“Fuck!” Your head slams back on the pillows propped up behind you. “You’re right! I dream about you day and night! I can barely sleep with how I crave you! Does that appease you?”
“Immensely,” Loki replies slowly, rolling his hips tormentingly against your aching core.
You’re burning for him hot as the Vanir sun, and the slow caress of his hand along your thigh is kindling to the flames. You spread wider for him on nothing more than his touch, leaving no part of you hidden from his hungry gaze.
It sends a wild thrill pulsing through your blood until you’re almost dizzy.
That same hand curls around your knee so he can press his lips to your bare skin. “You’re going to sing for me, Princess, even it if it takes all night,” he murmurs
Slowly, his lips begin a path along your inner thigh, kissing and sucking his marks as he climbs. You can’t help but clench expectantly as he moves closer to where you ache for him, whimpering at how infuriatingly slow he’s moving.
Loki’s eyes snap to yours and he smirks, relishing the effect he’s so clearly having on you. His mouth moves closer still, until you can almost feel his warm breath fan over your clit. You brace for his touch, for the sweet feeling of relief that will come under his limber tongue…
You jolt awake suddenly with Loki’s name dying like embers on your lips.
Through bleary eyes the room settles into focus around you. The muted colours of your dream intensify to startling white and cobalt blue and, after a few slow seconds, you recognise the living area of the Penthouse. You aren’t tangled between the cream sheets of Loki’s bed, but still lying on the same sofa he’s made you sleep on these past few months.
An odd pang of disappointment echoes in your chest.
The Penthouse lies silent around you, so silent that you could almost believe that you’re alone, but the feel of the locket around your neck - hot and heavy on your skin - is enough of a warning. Despite the silence and the closed doors Loki is lurking somewhere.
Your heart skips a beat at the thought, but it’s out of fear you tell yourself.
You shift slightly on the couch, only then realising how widely your legs are spread in spite of the restrictive fabric and how one hand is loosely cupping your breast. Heat blossoms instantly beneath your cheeks at the implication and you mouth a silent prayer of thanks to the gods that you’re alone.
Anything you uttered in your sleep is between you and them.
You relax back into the mass of cushions at your back, not quite willing to rise and face the day just yet. The beginning of a headache is beginning to pulse behind your eyes, making you curse Val and the numerous drinks she had made you share with her.
Yet, even after the hours you had spent in her rooms, it was Loki who filled your dreams.
You can’t escape the bastard even while unconscious.
That dream - that gloriously filthy dream - dances enticingly at the edges of your vision. You see Loki’s toned chest and feel the phantom touch of his lips against your skin. You hate him, yet you still give yourself over to the licentious thoughts swirling around your mind. You hate him, but surely that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a little fantasy?
Your eyes slip closed at the same time you bunch the hem of your dress up. Perhaps all you need is some relief…
“Do you honestly plan on feigning sleep the entire day?” A familiar smooth voice speaks from somewhere behind you, but sounding so close that it makes you startle.
The hand halfway up your thigh frantically yanks down the short hem of your dress, and you feel your heart begin to pound like a warm drum inside your chest. How long had the bastard been lurking? What had he seen?
What had he heard?
You remain where you are until the racing of your heart subsides to a steady thump, then push off the sofa to peer over at the small kitchen area of the Penthouse.
Immediately, you wish you hadn’t.
Loki is standing at the lime green breakfast bar tossing berries into his mouth, but it’s not that that catches your attention. In place of his usual tried and tested leather is - what you guess to be - the equivalent of a Sakaarian leisure outfit.
Or, at least, the bottom half of it.
To both your delight and irritation he’s decided to forgo a shirt, leaving his chiseled chest on full infuriating display.
You swallow the groan that’s threatening to bubble up your throat, but it’s impossible not to run your eyes hungrily over him. He’s a vain, spoiled little peacock, but there’s no denying that the man is beautiful. Loki looks like he’s been carved from marble, from his toned shoulders and biceps all the way to the deep V at the bottom of his defined stomach. He looks every inch the god he is and, suddenly, you’re struck with the need to run your tongue over every inch of him.
Just how much did you have to drink last night?
You’re so busy ogling the man who makes your blood boil that you don’t notice his gaze is on you until a second too late. Heat creeps back beneath your cheeks at the smug little smirk that tugs at his lips, and at the fact he caught you openly admiring him.
“Enjoying the view?”
Loki’s smooth voice drips with so much arrogance it makes your lip curl into a scowl of disgust. This vain little peacock of a man is aware of his beauty, and while you have been enjoying the view of his naked chest, Hel will turn to ice before you ever admit it to him. Loki may be beautiful, but the heavy piece of gold pulsing warmly on your collarbone is an unwavering reminder that the man is like belladonna; beautiful to look at, yes, but dangerous to approach.
“Try being repulsed at your lack of etiquette when a lady is present,” you sniff, making an effort to turn your nose up.
Loki cocks one elegant eyebrow and runs his gaze over what he can see of your garish pink gown. “Forgive me, but is this lady in the room with us?” he replies, turning his eyes over every inch of the wide living area in a show of looking.
His mockery makes you bristle and a familiar tingle begins at the tips of your fingers, though, with great effort, you keep your hands planted on the sofa because he’s right - out of both of you, you’re the one showing the most skin.
With an obvious huff of irritation you reach for the slinky piece of silk that’s supposed to be a robe, carelessly throwing it around your shoulders and making sure that it’s pulled tight enough to cover your cleavage. You hear Loki chuckle quietly while you try to cover as much of yourself as is possible, and it only makes you want to bash his handsome face into the breakfast bar.
“Piss off,” you spit at him, clutching the robe tightly to your chest as you make your way to the kitchen.
Loki doesn't move from the breakfast bar as you work around him, not even when you climb onto one of the high stools on the opposite side. It’s…unusual, given that he typically can’t escape your presence quick enough, and you can’t call to mind a single morning that you’ve eaten breakfast together.
If that’s even what this is.
You try to focus on slicing the vibrant purple fruit sitting on your plate, but you’re suddenly very aware that Loki’s naked chest is only inches away from you. Fleeting moments of your dream trickle through your mind, enough to make you wonder if that sculpted chest would feel as solid as it had in your dream, or if his muscular arms would feel as warm as they clutched you to it. Briefly, you flick your eyes to scan his biceps, feeling a little flip somewhere in your stomach when you notice the soft bulge of muscle.
It makes your traitorous mind drift to imagining how those muscles would strain as they pinned your wrists to the bed, and further still to what marks his teeth might leave on your skin. It makes you wonder…
“You seem distracted this morning, Princess.” Loki’s taunting, smug voice weaves through the heady haze of lustful thoughts. It’s only then you notice the cerulean juice you’ve been pouring is dangerously close to spilling over the edge of the narrow glass.
A silent curse takes shape on your lips and you hastily right the glass decanter, though you fear the damage is already done. The burning heat returning beneath your cheeks is evidence enough of where your thoughts had strayed, and he’s already caught you ogling him like some lovestruck peasant girl.
But then an idea strikes.
“Perhaps a little,” you answer and place a piece of fruit between your lips. “Didn’t you see who I spent a great deal of last night with? I think I’ve forgiven Val all her misdeeds, although she’s more than welcome to continue making it up to me.”
You flick your eyes properly to Loki - grasping the opportunity to appreciate his half dressed state - and flash him a suggestive smirk. For the briefest of moments, you swear you see a flicker of jealousy dance in his green eyes, but it’s just as swiftly replaced by that familiar mocking gleam.
“Fucking your way to the top? I didn’t think you had it in you,” Loki taunts.
Against the cool marble of the breakfast bar, your fingers twitch and tingle, but you don’t rise to his jibe. “Isn’t that your modus operandi? I expect it took days on your knees to be granted these quarters, and I dread to think what the Grandmaster has you do to keep them. Don’t you have any self respect?”
Loki’s face is a mask of quiet fury and you watch the veins in his arms protrude as he grips the bartop. You will your gaze to stay trained on his face, but, in spite of your best efforts, it wanders easily to the exposed length of his forearms. Appreciative eyes drink in the evident strength rippling beneath his skin and your mind wanders again to thoughts of his stamina. He could likely last hours and not feel a thing, could likely toss you around like a rag doll and pin you easily to any bed.
And you’re disgusted to realise that you’d likely let him.
“I have a great deal more than a princess who sells herself like a common whore. Perhaps you’d feel more at home in one of Sakaar’s whorehouses? Given my closeness to the Grandmaster, I’m sure it can easily be arranged,” Loki replies scathingly, once again using your own words against you.
“I imagine the company would be more agreeable,” you bite back. “All those pretty men and women? Norns, Loki, you can’t even threaten someone properly. What a pathetic little man.” You jump off the stool with a simpering little laugh, praying to the Norns that your words are enough to throw him off the scent.
He’s vain and spoiled and full of a sense of his own importance. He’s rude and cold and downright unpleasant.
Yet, in spite of all this, you can’t deny the obvious.
Ooooo, for the requests…Jonathan Pine the morning after the wedding being in love with reader, his new spouse, and just being so deeply in love and happy?🥹🥹
Afterglow
Jonathan Pine x fem!Reader
Summary: It's the morning after yours and Jonathan's wedding, and the both of you are bathing in the afterglow - and the deep love you share.
Warnings: fluuuuff! slightly suggestive smut, lovebirds being in love
Word Count: 920
a/n: We're kicking off the requests with this fluff ball! 🥰 I loved writing this and I hope you all enjoy it. Especially you, bestie @smolvenger ! 🧡
P.S. I hope you don't mind that it's a bit short...
Jonathan blinked his eyes slowly open; oceanic blue eyes meeting the creme coloured ceiling of the small, cosy cottage. A soft, pleasantly warm breeze rustled the white satin curtains of the opened French doors. Goosebumps spread over his naked torso.
Blinking, he tried to adjust to the brightness in the room; caused by the strong rays of the Egyptian sun. Once his brain had woken fully up as well, all the events of the past day and night flooded his mind. The wedding. His wedding. He couldn't help but smile; immediately turning his head to the right. His eyes landed on you.
His wife.
Jonathan smiled even more. It still sounded so unrealistic and yet... He felt for the wedding band on his ring finger on the left hand... It was true.
Unlike Jonathan, you were fast asleep. Eyes closed shut tightly; breathing deep and even. You were laying on your stomach; bare back on full display. Your hands were buried underneath the soft pillow to support your head, while your lower half was covered underneath the thin blanket. It reached the dip of your lower back and therefore only just covered the curve of your bottom; teasing Jonathan.
A few strands of hair had fallen into your face and your cheek was slightly squished by the pillow - and yet you were the most beautiful woman Jonathan had ever laid his eyes upon. The man couldn't help himself but to shamelessly look; keeping his oceanic blues directed on you and just watching you sleep. He'd do that for the rest of his life. That much was certain.
Jonathan didn't know how long he was just admiring your stunning beauty. Seconds, minutes, hours?
At some point, his heart was beating so rapidly against his ribcage; screaming at him to just touch the woman he loved. So, he did.
Slowly inching closer towards your body, he laid on his side and propped his elbow up to support his head. With a sweet smile, Jonathan reached for your face, in order to tuck the loose strands back behind your ear. Then he let his fingertips wander gently over your neck, up to your shoulders and down your entire back; grazing your soft, warm skin slightly.
You stirred a bit, but kept on sleeping, so he repeated the loving movement of his hand. Sometime on the way, the night manager lost his caution, and suddenly he was using his whole palm to caress your skin. Jonathan just couldn't help it. You were like a temple to him. Worthy to be worshipped.
Jonathan's touch caused you to wake up at some point, of course. Stirring awake, you blinked your eyes open - and the first thing you saw was your husband's handsome face. A soft smile was on his lips, as his oceanic blues looked into yours so full of love and adoration. Eyebrows slightly slanting, he inched even closer; hand stilling on your lower back.
"Good morning, beautiful," Jonathan whispered in his rough, but yet gentle morning voice.
His flirtatious words caused your heart to beat immediately faster. You couldn't help but smile as well. "A very good morning, indeed." You whispered back; biting your lip, before you leaned forward to press a soft kiss on his awaiting lips.
"Did you sleep well?" He asked you then; his thumb starting to caress the skin on your lower back. You nodded; still smiling. "Heavenly. And you?" A soft, breathless laugh escaped his lips. "I think I've never slept better." You giggled and placed a hand on the centre of his chest; fingers playing with the fine hair located there.
After a while of pleasant silence, you spoke up again, when you saw the wedding band on your finger twinkling in the morning sun. "Can you believe this? We are married now...." Jonathan shook his head; smiling. "It's surreal. Like a dream." His hand left the place on your back; travelled further up to gently graze your side and ribcage, which cause goosebumps to spread over your skin. "I hope it's a never-ending dream..." You bit your lip once more, then gave Jonathan a push; making him lay on his back. With on hand pressed firmly on his muscular left pec, you hovered over him; mouth only a hairsbreadth away from his. "Baby, I promise you... It is a never-ending dream." You captured his lips with yours then; tangling them up in a sinful kiss.
Jonathan's biceps bulged as he tried to pull you on top of him. Once he was successful, he rested both his hands on your hips to keep you in place. With his lips still sealed in your kiss, he shifted; moved his strong body to pin you on your back, so that he was on top of you know. The sudden movement of Jonathan made you break the kiss and caused a small yelp to escape your mouth. But when your husband was hovering above you now, you could only bite your lip again and smile.
The sun, which shone through the curtains gave his face a soft glow; his short blonde-brown curls almost shining golden. He looked even more handsome now.
You lifted your hand to his face; fingertips softly mapping out his jaw and cheekbones. You could clearly feel the soft stubble on his cheeks and chin; giving you a sizzling sensation.
"I love you, Jonathan."
He smiled. That dazzling smile you fell in love with such a long time ago.
“ Didn’t you all die in the flood? The entire lot population washed away under the sea” Loki said bluntly.
“No, we survived, maybe not all of us most, we now live under the waves that tried to destroy us. One must not believe everything they have been told now.”
With that you turn your back and walk back to the Quinjet.
No-one says anything to you but you can hear Tony yelling at Loki already. You strap yourself in and just wait.
One by one they walk in and you notice that there is a mouth guard on Loki, no doubt Thor and Tony agreed to do that so you wouldn’t have to listen to him and his rambling the entire trip home. Thor goes back to his spot next you, right across is his brother.
“How are you Lady Y/N?” He says for you to hear.
“I am alright Thor, Thank you.”
“I am sorry about that. I didn’t think he would be rude”
You just shrug, and quickly give him a glace.
Deciding it was better to keep your distance from the God of Mischief in the future.
The entire fly home, you feel Loki’s eyes glued on you. You ignore him and focus on the conversation once again, this time taking a chance to join in.
Once you land Tony escorts Loki to his room, it is on the same floor as you but down the hall so you can still avoid him. You go to the lab once again to work.
Distraction of the best kind.
After a couple hours you have made a potion that if used will make ones memories disappear. You figured it could be useful in certain situations, you started on the cure for it. You always made a potion that would reverse the effects.
“So this is where you were hiding kid” Tony asks as he walks in with two glasses in his hand. He gives one to you, “Whisky?” You raise your brows at him.
“You need a drink after meeting Reindeer games.” he takes a sip of his and you follow, it leaves a warm sting as it goes down.
“It wasn’t the warmest of welcomes but what can one expect in moments like that”
“Reindeer games has been warned to play nice or else.”
“Hmm I am a big girl Tony. I have been taking care of myself since I was a child”
“I know its not just for you he has to be try to be nice to everyone, man I always forget how old you are and you honestly like a daughter to me.”
“I forget myself some day’s as well.”
You smile, you look like your in your early 20’s but really you are over 3000 years old. The pendent is the reason you have been alive so long, each Atlantean is gifted one at the time of their births.
“Kid you zoned out” Tony’s voice brings you back to reality.
“Sorry Tony, just thinking. So I made a new potion.” You try and divert the conversation to something else “I don’t know why or what situation one might use it in but its a memory loss potion. One sip from this and it will make your memories disappear. I am in the middle of making a reversal potion.” You say as you lock away the potion in a coded safe.
“You know Y/N I don’t think you have ever fully explained why you are here instead of in Atlantis.”
“You never really asked Tony.” you look at him with a raised eyebrow.
“You got me there Y/N”
“I left Atlantis cause I felt like my talent wasn’t suited for there. We are a humble race of people but are stubborn when it comes to things, such as the war machines and flyers, even potions. My father never like that I took a great interest in things like that, and without my mother around to help convince him I was often in trouble for tinking with the machines. So he had them hidden above the waves. Very long story short. I left.”
Tony just listens, this is the first time that you have really explained to anyone about your life in Atlantis.
“So you’re a runaway?”
“You can say that. It wasn’t just myself that left Atlantis, there was a small group of us but sadly over the years of living here we have lost them. A couple went home cause they couldn’t adjust to life outside the safety of Atlantis. After a while I was the only one left here and then you found me basically and now I have a family again and I am not alone.”
Tony hugs you, “ I am sorry about your friends”
“I’ll see them again one day. I know that.”
“So kid you are staying for the party right?” He chuckles and you finish your drink.
“Of course, I’ll leave the day after.”
“Good now lets get you another drink” you both laugh and leave the lab.
In the common room everyone is there including Loki who is sitting in the far corner with his head in a book.
“Hey Y/N come join us” Nat says as she drags you over to the lounge.
“What’s up?”
“Wanda here tells me that you leaving in a couple days.”
“Yeah I will be. I need to gather some supplies for the Lab and grab some blueprints for Tony. Then I’ll be going to the compound to work on the machines.”
“We should really train you so you can come on missions with us. Hey Tony do you think Steve would agree to train her, we could all help in our various departments.”
You shake your head at Tony and Nat.
“Oh come Y/N. Training isn’t that bad.”
“Hey guys Y/N is still here” You say pointing at yourself “I am Lab girl, tech girl, potion girl. Not mission girl.”
“They’re not wrong Y/N, having you trained would be handy. If not just for missions but also for your own safety.”
“But then I would be distracting you all from what you want to do.”
By now Loki has made his way over to the group.
“No the little Atlantean won’t learn to fight. It isn’t in her nature to fight.”
You glare at him.
“What you would know about my nature, Asgardian.?”
“I can just look at you and tell you that you won’t fight to save your life. You’re such a princess that you have others fight for you”
“That’s rich coming from you Lackey”
You turn to leave as he grabs your arm.
“It’s Loki to you”
You look at his hand, then back up before pulling your arm, dragging him into you. You use your free hand to punch him in the face, and kick his feet out from underneath him.
“You were saying? ”
The room is silent as Loki stares at you while still sitting on the floor.
“Maybe the little princess has some fight in her, I would love to see more one day. Perhaps a private training session Atlantean.” You feel your face heating up. Was Loki trying to hit on you?
“I think that is enough Reindeer games, as much as I loved to watch you get your ass kicked, I think you need to apologize to Y/N” Tony says from the sidelines.
“ I will not apologize to her.” Loki growled getting up off the floor and dusting his clothes off.
“ I wouldn’t accept it anyway.” you say as you leave the common room. Nat and Wanda follow you.
“Seriously what is wrong with him. He only arrived today and already hates you”
Wanda breaks the silence.
“Who knows Wanda and honestly I do not care. I refuse to waste my time on him.”
“We don’t need to waste our time on a guy like that.” Nat says as you three walk.
“I’ll be glad when he goes back to Asgard.” you reply.
Back in the common room.
“Seriously Brother what is your problem?” Thor asks Loki as he pushes him onto the couch.
“What ever do you mean Thor?” Loki responds dumbly.
“Why are you being so rude to Lady Y/N?”
“Why not, it is fun to watch her get mad, the way her cheeks get rosy when she tries to contain her rage. The way she tries to stand up against me to prove herself. It is quite fun, like poking a sleeping bear.”
“She is the most nicest person here, she was nothing but polite to you upon your arrival and you treat her as if she just dirt beneath you.”
“Listen well Brother, Tony looks upon Y/N as a daughter and if you hurt her, you will be on a one way ticket back to Asgard”
“Oh as if I care Thor. I was forced to come here, I was forced to help your little gang and now I must put up with another one of them.”
Thor shakes his head at his brother.
“It is hopeless when it comes to you Loki. If it wasn’t for Father I would be telling you to leave. No-one would have to put up with your attitude.”
Loki watches his brother walk away, followed by the others.
Leaving him alone again.

Summary: Loki feels down and Y/N decides she wants to help him out
Warnings: Selectively Mute reader
Y/N sat with Peter Parker, listening to him as he rambled on about his homework and complained about how much he had to do of it, instead of just doing it. Even though Peter could be kind of annoying sometimes Y/N loved to be near him. He was the only human so far that had proved to be worthy of her trust. He was a gentle giant and showed her tenderness and care when he provided her company. He even went out of his way to gather her food and certain supplies to help her out, erasing the risk of her being caught by another human.
Y/N knew Peter didn’t have to do all of these things but he still chose to and that made y/n feel good because she knew someone out there cared for her wellbeing. Out of impulse, she stepped up to Peter’s wrist that held a pencil and hugged it.
“Woah there… You good pipsqueak?” Peter said, raising an eyebrow in curiousness. Y/N nodded her head wordlessly. She didn’t like to speak much.
She had lost her parents at a young age and her kind called borrowers lived in small, distanced packs, making it hard to find people to share a life with. After she had lost everyone close to her there had been no reason to speak and communicate with others. Peter was the first person she had talked to in five years. When she first spoke to him her voice had been rough and she didn’t want to admit she had lost the confidence to actually speak. All of her memory of language had practically withered away in her head, making it hard to remember how to pronounce some words. Peter had only questioned once why she didn’t speak to him. He was worried she was frightened of him but she assured him that wasn’t the problem with an exaggeration of her hands and a written note. Peter hadn’t questioned her after that and only spoke to her with no expectations of her responding.
She released his wrist and smiled brightly up towards him.
“I’m glad you’re feeling good today. But I think something has made Loki feel bad these last weeks. Would you know why?” Peter asks, resting his head upon his hand to see her better. Y/n shakes her head.
“Well if you have any free time, you mind using those amazing spy skills for me? I’m worried about him, he won’t talk to me?” He patted her head with a finger.
Y/n nodded, anxious to see Loki for the first time. She had never come across the god since her arrival at the tower.
Y/n sat on a shelf in Loki’s room watching his daily life. He led a rather peaceful but boring routine. Reading late at night and early in the morning, practicing his impressive magical abilities, and occasionally eating a meal. Y/n was about to stand and leave, ready to tell Peter that he was probably sad because he did nothing during the day when the door opened. In Thor walked, one of the biggest people she’d ever seen, and that was saying something.
“Brother, why don’t you just leave this room? There are plenty of things to do.” Thor said to Loki.
“Leave so I can hear you all blabber on of how wretched of a person I am? My life may be spent in solitude but perhaps I like it like that.” Loki retorted snarkily.
“If you stay in here, your chances of being liked will increase no more. “Thor said stepping towards Loki.
“So you admit it? The mortals of this tower do not want me here.” Loki said, anger lashing his voice.
“I don’t blame them, brother. You’re wasting away in this existence you call a life. Mother would be disappointed.” Thor said, his voice going soft to lessen the blow at the end.
Despite Thor’s gentility, Loki still became furious.
“Get out,” Loki said with a scary calm. Thor respected his wishes and walked out. But Y/n stayed, thinking she had just found the reason for Loki’s sadness.
As the days went by Y/n hid well and listened to the others’ Avengers conversations. Most of them as she’d thought spoke terribly of Loki. Remorse became heavy in her heart and she vowed to make Loki feel better. Since Peter had been there for her she figured it was time for her to be there for someone else.
She crept onto Peter’s desk and broke the lead off the pencil quietly. She checked to make sure he was still asleep and began writing.
Dear Mr. Loki,
I am sorry you feel so bad. I know people can be mean but I think your feelings are valid. If it was me I wouldn’t want to hear about what people think of me either. But I think you are very kind and generous. I hope this helps.
-Your friend
Y/n set out the next night to give the letter to Loki. Her handwritten letter was strapped to her back, easily accessible to her reach. The floor was mute under her imperceptible footsteps. She climbed the towering, unstable wall of Loki’s silk, black bedsheets which was a hard task as the sheets slipped from her grip a couple of times sending her heart to beat out of her chest. Finally, after what seemed like a lifetime, she reached the top. Her breaths were heavy and she struggled to keep them quiet. Approaching Loki’s open, pale outstretched palm she retrieved the letter from behind her back. The paper was bigger than her upper half when folded together and heavy enough that she couldn’t place it upon his palm using only her arms to boost it to the surface. Which meant that she would have to climb into his hand.
Oh, how she wanted to turn around, climb down the bed and run to her safe, warm home inside the wall.
But she refused to give up when she had come so far.
And he needed someone to be there for him.
She delicately climbed into his palm, with the letter strapped to her back carefully placing her feet in non-ticklish places. One twitch of his hand would send her flying onto the covers, or worse off the bed itself. She shivered at the thought. Finding a good place to leave the letter she bends down.
Then a powerful, immense weight falls upon her sending darkness to coat her vision. She falls to her butt as vertigo hits.
“What are you doing?” A booming voice demands.
She trembles in fear, covering her head with her arms. I knew I should’ve just gone away. What will he do?
“I asked you a question?” The voice is angry. A light is turned on allowing her sight of her captor.
She dares to look up and is met with the rage of Loki Laufeyson. She shakes her head in reluctance to answer.
“What is this?” He roughly nudges her away from the note she holds in her arms causing her to fall onto her back with a squeak of fear. She holds onto the slip of paper for security but his strength overpowers hers greatly. His eyes squint in concentration as he reads the small handwriting.
“Did you write this?” He asks returning his focus upon her trembling form.
She nods hesitantly.
“Truly?”
Another nod.
“You don’t speak much do you Little Miss, do you?” He asks with a hint of a smile, his tone is much softer.
She shakes her head. Y/n clutches her arms across her chest, scooting back further from his face.
“Did I frighten you?” Loki suggests his eyes gentle voice guilty.
She nods, her eyes wide studying him for any ill intent.
“I apologize. I have a few trust issues. “
She says nothing and only stares at him with distrust.
“How did you know what the others were saying about me?” Loki asks raising her to meet his eyes. Even through her apprehension, she notices how beautiful they are. How his irises cannot seem to decide on a cool blue or a rainforest green.
She doesn’t try to answer his question, from the fear of speaking and the trepidation of angering him with her words.
“Okay, well I will wait until you’re ready to tell me. For now, I’ll let you go.” He stands up from his bed and releases her onto the hardwood floor. He stays crouched even as she slips off his long fingers. Taking a few cautious steps away from his looming form she is frankly surprised he is letting her go. She supposes that is a good sign. Maybe she will come back to him despite her previous scare.
“Don’t be a stranger.” His voice calls out almost wistfully.
Next week…
Y/n finds herself in a vent located in Loki’s room. This past week she’d felt guilty for leaving Loki in such a dreadful, sad state. So her final decision was to come back. She watched as Loki sat reading in an armchair on the other side of the room. He looked regal and imposing from far away, with his head bent down in concentration, long legs spread outward and she could only imagine how intimidating he must look up close. Her legs shook as she dropped to the floor below with no sound to alert Loki of her presence. Scurrying to his chair she stopped by his black boot. Even this simple apparel dwarfed her, able to serve as her sufficient sleeping quarters.
If you want to turn back now’s the time. She said to herself.
The enormous, unaware boot shifted closer to her and she let out a squeak, scampering back.
“It’s you again Little Miss.”
She craned her head all the way up and saw Loki staring down at her. His black hair hung down around his face. His hand reached for her and pinched her waist carefully, lifting her up to bring in front of his eyes. The pressure on her waist was gentle but still made her fearful.
She kicked her legs in search of a non-reachable floor. Loki noticed her apprehension and set her down in his other palm.
“Is that better?” He ducked his head down to meet her eye.
She nodded.
“Still not talking are we?” He asked.
She shook her head.
“Well, I suppose that’ll be fine. Would you care for me to read to you?” He asked kindly.
His offer was so kind and thoughtful. One that didn’t seem right for a simple nod in answer.
“Y-yes p-please.” She stumbled.
Loki grinned and set her upon his shoulder. She wasn’t sure what to do so high up and close to his person. Thankfully Loki caught onto this with his quick perception.
“Sit right here Little One.” He tapped right beside his neck and held still as she walked to the pointed area. Sitting down, she dared to lean a bit of her weight against his neck. She was instantly met with warmth and the gentle pounding of his pulse. When he started reading his smooth voice vibrated her minutely.
After a while, Y/n started becoming sleepy from the comfortableness of her position. Loki stopped reading.
“You know Little Miss, I think you have a lovely voice… perhaps you should use it more often.”
Y/n pondered these words in her sleepy mind.
Maybe she would heed his advice, but for now, she would sleep.
