Okay, I finally finished the series.
Fearlessness? Really? That's Wednesday's biggest strength?
Okay, I get it, she still needs friends. That part, I get, because she's starting to see a found family in Nevermore while also strengthening the relationship with her family.
But every single time, it's just loss after loss. Wednesday finds the stalker, it's not the one that kills Enid. Wednesday finds out about the LOIS project, it releases Tyler which still might lead to the premonition of Enid's death. Wednesday's plan to capture Tyler goes wrong, not because of her own incompetence (It kind of was, a bit. But she almost handled it.). Then she tries to gain her ability back, it goes wrong again. She helps Bianca, and I applaud that she knew what Bianca would do, she made a plan, but still, it doesn't show her independence when all she did was stand there and get the pocket watch thing from Agnes. Wednesday tries to save Pugsley, she fucking needs help. AGAIN.
Seriously. I hate it. "I'm Wednesday Addams, I'm strong, independent, fearless"
Then fucking show it for once, how about that? Show it without dumbing her down. And no, the characters saying 'You can't just fight Tyler and his family with a sharp tongue' does not change that. It means the writers are aware of what the fuck they're doing but don't know how to make Wednesday a strong character that's unemotional but still needs growth, without making her lose every single time.
And no, small wins don't count. Like solving Agnes' little game, or winning the stupid side mission in Episode 5 where they win against a bunch of boy scouts.
My point is, a character that's losing is good, it means they're going to grow. But if you keep showing the audience that the character is going to continue to lose when they're by themselves, they're going to assume that the character is just helpless.
