No change

A woman was lamenting to me the other day about her breakup.

"I thought he would change"

Women need to realize that the only time they are going to change a male is if he is wearing a diaper.

Anyone can grow or evolve. But that is only in the right environment. That environment doesn't include criticizm, disdain, drama etc.

When I was working as a successful manager, I was asked what I did. Instead of catching people doing something wrong, I caught them doing something right. I was firm, fair and enforced discipline (cold without drama).

Mostly I encouraged positive behavior.

Well, simple economics: We had a demand shock due to closing down of businesses. This caused suppliers to scale back production and shut down all levels. Not just manufacture but also raw materials and shipping. Then, with easing of restrictions, demand for goods and services came back. A lot of pent up delayed demand happened too. However, it is a lot easier to decrease production than increase it. Increasing supply of goods and services means sourcing materials, hiring, investing in equipment and increasing shipping.

So, Demand > Supply = Price increase/ inflation.

Fed rates only affect Demand. (demand destruction). Inflation is with us until Supply is greater than Demand. Move manufacturing back to USA and a lot of disruption would be solved.

Tariffs

Seems like some people don’t realize that tariffs (also called duties) are taxes. For example, China doesn’t pay anything more when their goods are subject to tariff. Instead the US consumer pays a tax when they buy those goods. The effect is to raise the price of the item that is subject to tariff. This may make the foreign price less competitive with a US producer, depending on how low it is to begin with. Either way, the consumer (you and I) pays a higher price.

Interesting that taxes have been first lowered primarily for the wealthy and large corporations and then now taxes have been raised by tariffs which are paid by the consumer. A better choice would be subsidies which would make US goods lower priced on the world market. This is what other countries do. Of course that would be paid by tax revenue. Might have to cut some costs elsewhere in the US budget.

In some cases duties are paid by the person who is selling the item. There should be duties on all foreign made cars. So, if a company moves their factory to Mexico, the cars should be subject to the same duties of any other imported car or truck. Or if you choose to build it in Mexico, sell it in Mexico.

Economics of manufacturing and service industries

Service industries don’t create value and add to the overall economy. They simply move money around.

Manufacturing takes raw materials and combines with labor to create something of greater value. Manufacturing adds to the overall economy.

If companies are allowed to move factories to other countries with cheap labor, manufacture and then import with no tariffs, it hurts the US economy. This should be subject to heavy tariffs.

A better policy would be subsidies for industries in the US.

Based on some messages that I’ve answered, here is an opinion/suggestion for young men, who are living alone and trying to hook up: Before you go out in the evening, spend 10 minutes cleaning up your bathroom and about 5 minutes cleaning up your kitchen. When you bring a woman back to your place what kind of message do you want for them to get from you? In other words are you interested in a woman primarily as a maid? And as a minimum, have coffee, sugar and milk in your kitchen.
